Two promoted to fill top civil service positions
(CNS): Two Caymanian women already working in the Department of Community Rehabilitation (DCR) have been promoted within the department to take the two most senior positions. Melissa Rivas is now acting DCR director and Erica Ebanks is the acting deputy director, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced.
Around 600 temp workers help spruce up islands
(CNS): During the three-week long National Community Enhancement (NiCE) project, which ended Thursday, around 600 unemployed people worked in every district sprucing the place up for the holidays. They cleared beach accesses points, cleaned up beaches and cemeteries, improved road markings, supported solid waste management, and helped the elderly in their yards.

PWD training 33 new apprentices
(CNS): Thirty-three young Caymanians have enrolled as Level I trainees in the Apprenticeship Training Programme offered by the Public Works Department (PWD). The apprentices completed orientation and started their programmes earlier this month and will be learning carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical installation, air conditioning and refrigeration, welding as well as building and construction management.
