The result of no parenting and nepotism. Parents gave these kids right every time they got in trouble and then the parents finally lost interest all together. Youth services have done nothing because……………..

    • Anonymous says:

so Youth services should take on the job of parenting these children … yea its not like thats going to be an expensive endeavour in fact lets go hire more people and have their job description be parenting and assign like 2 to 3 kids to each employee … this of course will not only require basic salary but also housing to ensure they are in a proper environment … and lets not forget food and clothing …. meanwhile their parents get to live free and reproduce, because lets face it we are a democracy we have human rights so we cant tie them off.

Oh but wait how about a more sensible approach like i dunno holding the parents accountable. Either through fines, detention or court ordered programmes. Force them to be parents and hold them accountable everytime they fail due to neglience.

What is this island really coming to! This pile of deadbeat backing needs to stop! I’m a hardworking Caymanian from Cayman Brac and i agree with alot being said about this island! Persons that should be getting assistance not and those that can work but just lazy and deadbeats get assistance from our Government! Someone please investigate whats going on with this situation ASAP!
We are all one country and when we see something that needs to be addressed in one district, all should be involved for the betterment!

A bunch of wanna be gangsters – its not being tough when 5 young men beat up a 70 year old man. Everyone on the Brac knows who these guys are – and where they live. They need to stop terrorizing people

    • Anonymous says:

Oh, but…. but… the police are seeking information!!! What a load of crap. This is far from the first time — even this year — that these little bastards have assaulted a solitary person. Why aren’t they in jail? Why haven’t they ever gone to court or at least been charged? Does daddy have that much money?

This is a disgrace. It’s a disgrace on the police, the judicial system and the people of the Brac in general., This roving gang of cowards can apparently set upon whoever falls into disfavor with them and there is no repercussion.

You who’ve witnessed this and then said you didn’t see anything should be ashamed of what you have become.

This story is now on page two, and I suspect there will be no new page, because it will all just go away with no new developments, as it has the last few times these thugs beat on somebody. When five young men beat and kick a 70 year old man, that is attempted murder.

Not CNS’s fault that there will be no followup; can’t report news that doesn’t happen. The police should have and should be moving on this and they shouldn’t be auto-bailed — catch and release — as before. It’s gone too far. Somebody in law enforcement has to step the **** up.

The Brac has been for 40 years a place where nothing happens except complaining about Grand Cayman, sex and drinking and the government workers collecting huge salaries for doing nothing -the district commissioner earns the same as a chief officer ($130,000) in Grand Cayman even though he really has NOTHING/NADA/ZERO like the problems to deal with that they do but the salary was fixed by Julie years ago to make sure people knew the Brac was a serious important place-equal to a government ministry on Grand Cayman which of course it is not by light years.. The place is dead apart from the bars and the churches.

    • Anonymous says:

Yeah, in the Brac the high upps does nothing, never goes to work on time and spends little time in office and gets big, gig, big, wages( from Tax payers) for absolutely doing nothing.

    • Just Commentin' says:

I fail to see where your drivel is even obliquely relevant to the article. And, FYI: The “Superscale” salary level placing the D.C in at what was then a “Permanent Secretary” pay grade, was in place many years before Julie ever thought of running for office.

Uhhh…Huh? Say what? So the Brac is a hotbed for boozy sex? Gee? Really? Who woulda thunk? Are ya speaking from experience? If this is true then Cayman Brac flights and hotel rooms should be filled with Grand Cayman dudes (and dudettes) who “come up” for the weekend. (Typed during a break in a frenzied and breathless attempt to book a Brac weekend flight and hotel room online.)

Still I fail to see where your comment is relevant. But…Wow! Thanks for the tip!

(Okayyy! Whoopee! My bookings cleared. Stand-by reservation, though…darn…the flights were full so it seems that lots of people scrambled to act on your advice. Hey! Do you realise that you may have created a new and promising industry for the island?)

      Anywayyy…See ya on the Brac!

What a pathetic and unfunny response to @7:51’s comment, Just Commentatin’. If you haven’t noticed the drinking (especially) and sex (nothing else to do) on the Brac, you should not be trying to make a comment. But,I have done some research with senior civil servants and found you are right: It was James Ryan (a Bracker), Chief Secretary, who insisted that the District Commissioner’s salary should be on the permanent secretary scale, even though the official job evaluators (from the UK) placed it at a far lower point on the salary scale. It is so good to be able to say that Julianna never asked for anything for the Brac other than modest little things appropriate for an island of about 1500 people. Like……………

So let me see if I got this right ? it takes FIVE little Bitches from this new generation of PUNKS to beat up a man from my generation , Lord how far we have come .

I am so sick and tired of reading comments in which the Government is blamed for delinquent children. Last I checked a Government could not give birth. The blame for these wannabe gangsters lay solely with their good for nothing wotless parents. You know the kind because we see them everyday, while their young children running around being destructive – they laughing it off – oh he only a child or oh he so cute. NO NO he nah cute he need have he behind tanned!

The Government’s only job should be providing the resources to ensure that children have a safe community in which to grow up in, medical facilities and schools. Under resourcing of these responsibilities is a problem and the Government should be held accountable for that.

HOWEVER, the raising of a child is the job of the PARENT, the anti-social behavior displayed by children is a result of BAD PARENTING!!! It’s a result of a child being “dragged up” rather than “raised”.

Put the blame where it belongs!

    • Anonymous says:

Bad parenting is the largest part of the problem. However it won’t hurt is the police checked the bars from time to time for underage youth.

        Abortion is probably more effective.

        • Anonymous says:

Forced sterilization would be more appropriate. Too many baby momas and baby papas getting handouts from Govt- for votes, which turns them into super thugs and creates a welfare state.

    • Anonymous says:

This is so very true and in such is the case in this matter. However, the police in the Brac know who these trouble makers and drug addicts are and nothing is done because of ” who they are for”. They keep getting away with terrorizing the community.

    • Just Commentin' says:

“The blame for these wannabe gangsters…” does not quite rest *solely* …with their good for nothing wotless parents”. While I agree that there are a whole heap of worthless parents around, other factors are involved as well. The young brats are pretty much free to be disrespectful to their teachers and bully fellow students without fear of facing any meaningful punishment. Gotta handle ’em with kid gloves, ya know. They spend quite a significant portion of their socially formative years, in what is likely to be a government school. Nuff said.

      • Anonymous says:

yes they attend Gov’t schools but it is not the job of teachers to raise them and when teachers do reprimand them then those seem no good parents come into schools wanting to fight the teachers … the teachers can only do so much they also require the support of parents to do their job properly

  8. Anonymous says:

Everyone in Cayman knows who beat up that poor old man, the thing is the police in Cayman Brac are too corrupt! Once you tell them or give them any information they are the first ones spreading in around on the road.

Its the same police that will hide evidence for their family, or try to change rules to “save” them.

CHANGE OUT the current Inspector and some officers and it will be better. How is it that when a whole task force makes a complaint on an Inspector and then they are the ones offered a transfer!! How does this make any sense?

    • Anonymous says:

COMPLETELY AGEED WITH 2:06 PM, SOMETHING NEED TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY.

    • Anonymous says:

Agree 100% with your comment. The Inspector on Cayman Brac is unproffesional at best. But that can be expected when Cayman Brac serves as the dumping grounds for incompetent and sub-par officers from Grand Cayman.

A Special Constable was seen beating their spouse at the parking lot of a supermarket on the Brac. This act played out whilst being on duty, in uniform and driving THEIR Gov’t vehicle, ( and dont get me started on this individuals use or rather abuse of said vehicle). With the many witnesses to this autrocity and surveilance footage available one would think this “officer” would of been reprimanded severly.
Then again this is the Brac and things have a peculiar way of happening. Instead of punishment, this officer was flown to Grand Cayman and given the officer of the year award. Yet another officer was arrested for getting beat up by their spouse that took place in the privacy of their home. Now you all be the judge and tell me there is’nt something wrong with this place.

      • Next time says:

Hello, sorry but you have it wrong about that “officer”, the truth of the matter is that the other person was (and always has been) the aggressor and abuser. On that day he was defending himself. And yes there is video of it, a whole video from start to finish. I took it while I watched what took place. He dealt with the situation as best he could and trust me if that was some of these other so called men around here the other person would’ve been in the hospital with severe injuries.

As for the use of the vehicle I can say that while he is rough on, it he is someone you can depend on to do his job and he is always there doing his job, unlike some of the other idiots they have there.

In fact I’ll bet that you yourself have been arrested (or a family close member) by him during the course of his job hence why you are stating the innuendoes you are and trying to stir up trouble for him. Maybe the cistern thing huh.

Everyone in CYB knows this officer does his job and can be counted on, no matter what, hence why he had personal issues with this other person.

So sorry, but you lose this round. Try again next time.

Five junior thugs walked into a bar and beat up an older man in his 70s. Cayman Brac has a serious problem brewing. Something needs to be done about these worthless creeps before they kill someone.

    • Anonymous says:

They na buck the right person yet, that’s why. They can’t pull that crap anywhere else. I wish I was there that night! These punks need a very rude awakening!

As usual, everyone that comments apparently knows who did this. Anyone going to give names to the RCIPS so that these “wanna be gangsters” can be removed from this community?

5 men to attack one-how brave. I suspect they all have very small penises.

  13. Not Brackers says:

The perpetrators of this were not original Brackers. These are imports who grew up somewhere else and moved to the Brac. They learnt the talents of beating up old people somewhere else.

    • Anonymous says:

yes 09.50, ‘cos that is so important right? If you know who they are call the police…jeez. Next it will be comments on “deportation”, “Paper Caymanian” “can trace my Caymanianess back to the dinosaurs”

    • Anonymous says:

Unfortunately I think you are only about half correct. The real problem is that these kids parents NEVER set a proper example or tried discipline these boys.

    • Anonymous says:

Wrong. I do believe they have been identified by the police and the are all born and bred brackers

Four out of the five grew up in the Brac.

      • Tell em says:

        Ok if you say so.

How many of the five came to Grand Cayman for a while then went back to the Brac?

        Since you know so much.

        • Anonymous says:

That’s like, so errr, so important “Tell em”. What are you trying to show? A higher level of knowledge? What for? Importance? Failed that I am afraid. And its not intelligence, that much is clear. Does it help the gentlemen concerned or get the thugs of the streets? Why would you even bother to comment…

        • Anonymous says:

Those that did “came to Grand Cayman for a while then went back to the Brac” were trouble long before they ever left Cayman Brac. Lack of parenting is the problem. Mothers and fathers spending their free time at the bars partying is not normally conducive to raising well adjusted children.

        • Anonymous says:

It does not matter if any of them left the Brac and went to Grand Cayman cause the little buggers were menaces here in the Brac before they went to Grand. I guess they could not take the heat in Grand so came back to the Brac to continue being a menace to society and terrorise us .

A bunch of little boys whose parents never bothered to raise them and government has ignored now becoming a nuisance to the community. When one of these wannabees is given what they deserve then the parents will be up in arms.

That is true 5;43 am, but the Government and their parents gives them all that they want and more, so they say its no need to work.
