My sympathies to the family of the deceased, and what I’m about to say is in no way implying this person did anything wrong.

North Sound generally, and the Stingray City Sandbar specifically, has become like the Wild West! There are numerous boaters without proper training and experience (both recreational and commercial boat operators). Yet, there is next to no supervision by Police, DOE, Coast Guard, etc. And no requirement to show that you have an inkling of how to handle a boat.

Its too late to say someone is going to die out there. They have already (even before this tragedy) and will continue to do so. Its like Times Square out there some days with the number of boats and people. Its simply not as enjoyable (nor as safe!) as it once was.

Why on earth is no one in power taking this seriously? We are destroying one of our greatest natural assets, and one of the wonders of the world.
