Speaker McKeeva Bush delivers his New Year Message

(CNS): In a disjointed and rambling New Year Message, Speaker McKeeva Bush found time to take aim at unidentified individuals who have criticised him and the government, but made no apology for his violent and shameful conduct that led to his assault conviction earlier this month. Bush said there were people who had “conducted themselves mischievously” for personal gain and said they were not good examples to follow.

Bush said he could be “scolded” but said that “we should not go about insulting people”. The speaker said this despite calling his own victim in the assault case a “mother f*#^ing lesbian” in a text message circulated among a WhatsApp group shortly after his attack on the bar manager at the Coral Beach Bar in February.

Bush, who is still running for office in West Bay West in May, took credit for the Unity Government’s management of COVID-19, as he called for unity from the community in building “a better society”.

What a disaster. This guy is becoming the Biden of Cayman. Commit crimes with no punishment, and speak incoherently. Yet people still vote for him. He should be behind bars.

    • Anonymous says:

You mean Trump don’t you 4:25 pm, and add racist, lying cheating whore monger right.

      • Anonymous says:

7:31… Show me examples of Trump being racist? Biden is the most corrupt politician the US has… Not just him, his brother, and his son. The disgrace of America. (we won’t bring up the VP nominee). Trump has done more for black America than O’Bama ever did

  3. Anonymous says:

What an embarrassing idiot he is.

  4. Anonymous says:

Doesn’t he have to wear a muzzle in public now?

  5. Anonymous says:

That man still having the ability to address a nation is unbelievable. Shows how much they care about public opinion.

  6. SSM345 says:

I can’t believe I just wasted 12 minutes of my life listening to that utter incoherent garbage.

“Speaker of the House” yet can’t string a sentence or paragraph together from a telly-prompter…..

  7. Anonymous says:

Forget Madam Speaker.. His nickname should be Madam Beater!

  8. unknown says:

Why is he still allowed to give speeches

  9. Anonymous says:

Honest question? If you are an idiot how can you know you are an idiot? I don’t think he has enough sense to know he is an idiot and no one is brave enough to tell the emperor he has no clothes on.

Any reports on the goings on at the event on Dec 26?

ignorance and arrogance. cornerstones of cayman society.

    • Anonymous says:

The real ignorance is in the statement you just made. How do this man’s poor actions reflect the morality and characteristics of every single Caymanian?

      • Anonymous says:

Fact that he is still Speaker because none of the other MPs- all of whom are elected exclusively by Caymanians – have done anything to remove him from that post, and only one of them has even criticized his conduct? Surely the entire population of elected representatives collectively represents Caymanian society?

      • ANONYMOUS says:

Because people continue to support him as an MP, and worse still the government as a whole have done nothing to sanction him for his behaviour

      • A paid vacation for public assault, now that's PROGRESSIVE says:

Lets cut the shit 8:28 Mckeeva didn’t just reach his mid 60s and have a one off incident, this is a long standing pattern of behaviours these actions are nothing new to Mckeeva, I am under 30 and even I am well aware of his reputation and his frequent actions at certain local establishments.
Its not exactly a well kept secret the way he goes on in public and he has done it boldly and brashly for so long that it was only a matter of time before an incident like this occurred.

That has not stopped our supposedly moral and pious community from electing him in election after election which inarguably and clearly does reflect poorly on Caymanians that is a fact.

In that light might I suggest an amendment to our national song:

        “O Land of Hypocrites,
of the selectively and conveniently virtuous”

        • Concerned says:

What Cayman needs is the ability for expats to vote and be voted in. Then the charade of corruption, criminal behaviour and the distinct lack of integrity will end. Cayman you keep voting these idiots in.
At the end of the day there will be more expats than locals in ten years and I have yet to see anywhere globally where over half the population has no say. The band of politicians you vote for will be ushering this in through volume of the expat community inside ten years.

This WBW voter and my entire family see no reason at this point to vote on May 21. The incumbent is a convicted, big-mouth disgrace and any “opposition” to him in our constituency who might declare will probably be someone who is inadequate, perhaps for other reasons.

So we’ll sit this one out!!

  15. John Ebanks says:

People should stop doing business with him …avoid his beach bar and business interests and those that help him… take his honour from him..

  18. Say it like it is says:

He referred to the historic opening of the first House of Paliament but neglected to mention that he had irrevocably stained this occasion with his debauched attack on a defenceless woman. I trust our schools’ local history curriculum will record this state of affairs for posterity.

  19. Anonymous says:

Vote Big Mac out!!!!! Why is he still speaker and gave criminal conviction?

    • Anonymous says:

Because he still has the love of a big portion of the Caymanian population. You should know by now that you don’t want them mad at you.

      • Anonymous says:

No, he has the continuing support of a section of West Bay, not a big portion of the Caymanian population. I doubt many Caymanians outside WB have anything but contempt for the man, I know that’s how I feel.

  20. Blank Stare says:

Delusional ranting creep doesn’t know when he ought to keep his trap shut.

  22. Anonymous says:

So, to all you voters in WBW, remember to vote big mac back in next time. On election day, vote early and vote often. Male voters will have their pieces of silver in their hands. Female voters will have been beaten into submission, following the great leader’s example. WBW will be a shining example of how graft works.

  23. Time to Drain the Cayman Swamp says:

The Premier and Speaker are both dishonorable leaders. They are truly an embarrassment to the people of Cayman based on their actions plus attitudes towards decency and respect for people that believe in accountability and standards for MLA’s elected to serve the people. In 2021 both and their all minions that prop them up need to be voted out of office.

    • Anonymous says:

What you call dishonorable the people of Cayman have called honorable for life. Decency, respect, and accountability is not what the voters on this island look for in a leader. Remember Bush and his minions wanted to call Pirates week Caymanian heritage week. Get back in line or no toaster for you.

  24. Anonymous says:

Mr Speaker, thank you, – if there’s one thing I learned managing to get through 8mins of this, there is absolutely without question opportunity for everyone who’s Caymanian here. 🤦🏽‍♀️

  25. Hemustgonow says:

The arrogance of this baboon, thinking it is his right to give a message like he’s the XXXXing premier or something. And the stupidity and weakness of the Cayman Govt. for allowing a platform to the drunken, misogynistic creep.

  27. Anonymous says:

He is seriously DISGUSTING! It is even more disgusting and unacceptable that Alden and the MPs have not removed him from office.

  28. Anonymous says:

What mr. MILLER is saying on this matter now ?

    • Anonymous says:

Ezzard along with Arden are waiting for the opportunity to join him and form the next Government, just wait for that one to drop! It’s coming! Birds of a feather !

      • BeaumontZodecloun says:

I don’t believe that is true; I don’t think Ezzard will ever meld with Bush regardless of the circumstances. Mr. Ezzard has his problems, but he is not a sellout.

  29. WBW Premier says:

People are always quick to throw stones when they don’t know all the facts. Big up Mr. Speaker. Rest easy knowing that you have taken accountability.

    • Anonymous says:

Huh? All the facts are there. A whole bar witnessed him beat up a woman. What facts do we not have?

    • Anonymous says:

      Let’s see the video then

    • The facts are all on video. What else do you need .Take off the blinkers.

      • Anonymous says:

The problem is they’re not putting the video out into the public domain.

I’m certain if they did, this would be add a whole other dimension to this situation. Keeping it under wraps allows for this man to continue to say “I’ve done so much good!!!!”. No. You have not, Mr Bush.

If people were allowed to see the real monster (and we should be privy, based on his Speaker of the House position) then that would change this immeasurably.

  30. Anonymous says:

We can do this the easy or hard way Caymanians. Either way you choose, change is imminently certain.

  31. Anonymous says:

His message , does he think he is QE II ?

  32. JD McDonald says:

He’s letting Trump be his example to follow.

    • Anonymous says:

Unfortunately he has been around a lot longer than Trump. At least we got rid of Trump after four years. This goon as be re-elected by the genus’s in West Bay for over twenty years.

    • Anonymous says:

Your comparing Bush the woman beater to Trump the self made Billionaire with the super model wife who was elected President of the United States? That’s like comparing Cayman to America.

      • Truth says:

Trump was given and inherited vast sums from his father, lost most of it through incompetence, made lots of shady deals to recoup his losses including with the Russian mafia who were looking for a dupe, became a reality TV star where he played a self-made billionaire, conned millions of gullible people into voting for him. Along the way he married a gold digger and sexually abused women. No one really knows how much money Trump has – or doesn’t have, as he may be deeply in debt. However, it is likely to be revealed in the upcoming money laundering/tax evasion trials.

  33. Anonymous says:

Does this man know no shame?

  34. Anonymous says:

I personally think CNS should be ashamed that they are not using his full name and titles when referring to him in their articles

    Give the man his due,
In future please refer to him as “convicted criminal W. Mckeeva Bush who unfortunately happens to also somehow be Speaker and MP, when he is not busy on druken rampages and assaulting women”
He is not just some random man
I hope this issue is rectified in the new year

    Thanks

  35. Anonymous says:

Does anyone listen to this convicted violent criminal.

  36. Anonymous says:

This man . This drunken rambling message. What has happened to the cayman sense of propriety. Stand up for honesty and integrity. Mac is making us look like a joke in the rest of the western world. He needs to stay home, shut up and give up his misogynistic views. There is nothing at all respectful about this creep. Vote him out – please

  37. Sunrise says:

Bush said there were people who had “conducted themselves mischievously” for personal gain and said they were not good examples to follow. There is the answer good people!! But why is he degrading himself like this? Remember, a leopard never changes his spots!!

  38. BeaumontZodecloun says:

I was under the misunderstanding that convicted criminals could not run for office.

    Silly me.

    • Say it like it is says:

Beaumont – they needed to give him a year in jail which he richly deserved, but all he had to suffer was 2 months at home.

      • BeaumontZodecloun says:

Agree. Our bent system apparently doesn’t allow for true and righteous sentencing of elected officials; at least, I’ve not ever seen it happen here. Once in, a MP is golden, where the laws applied to you and me don’t apply to them. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.

    • Anonymous says:

Only if convicted of an offence involving dishonesty or carrying a maximum sentence in excess of 12 month. Max sentence for common assault is conveniently 12 months, allowing the authorities to prosecute him but without keeping him out of politics.

  39. Anonymous says:

WBW voters take note. Is this the sort of person you want to represent you? In 30+ years has your families situation really improved. Or have you just been kept placated with the droppings from his table?
His comment regarding persons conducting themselves for personal gain not being good examples to follow should tell you all you need to know. He is that person.

    • Anonymous says:

What if he gave me and 15 relatives status? I would not be able to be here without it. We have received hundreds of thousands of dollars of government aid, education and healthcare costs, and some of us are even being paid by the Caymanian people to stay home while the borders are closed. None of this would be possible without Mac. Praise be upon him.

  40. Anonymous says:

Did his illegal “treating” event proceed at Barcadere Park on the 26th? Was the media there taking pictures to file with SIPL Commission?

    • Anonymous says:

WBW voters don’t read these comments, they are totally ignorant of the slippery forever honorable’s disgraceful behavior.
They only know what he tells them, and anything else is dismissed as “political jealousy” or “Limey governor/FCO trying to keep down a man of the people”.
