Cops seek help in Bible school abduction attempt

(CNS): The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service is appealing to the public for help in tracking down a man who attempted to abduct a girl who was waiting to be picked up after bible school on Monday night. In a press release Thursday the police described the man as having black hair cut in a Mohawk style with red-coloured ends. He is of dark brown complexion and medium build, and was wearing a blue and white horizontal striped shirt and a short white pants. Police said he tried to persuade the underage girl to leave with him from the New Testament Church of God, George Town.
The incident happened at about 8:45pm outside the church on North Sound Road, where the girl had been attending the church’s Vacation Bible School and was waiting for a ride home. The man reportedly tried to convince her to leave the area with him and grabbed onto her hand. The girl resisted and went back inside the church and the man left.
Two women are understood to also have been nearby during this incident and may have witnessed what happened. They are asked to make contact with the police investigating the possible abduction attempt.

A possible crime was reported. The police are investigating. Stop casting blame on the church or parents.
Use the little info provided to sensitize your family and friends rather than jumping to conclusions.
Churches are businesses. Sometimes caring souls get roped in to the scam.

As it’s read she went back in the church. These nowadays kids are not easy to deal with bible school usually ends, by 8 so people are doing pick up should be on time. Most bible school workers works during the day at their paying job. Students are generally asked to sit and wait until their family members picks them up if they’re not using the church bus.
Was there some kind of force involved in this incident, or is this just some innocent good Samaritan, who stopped his car, concerned like most of us would be, that this child was standing curbside waiting for someone who had not yet shown up? Based on these very loose incident descriptions, I’m not convinced our police are astute enough to make any distinction. Abductors are not usually so easily identifiable…doesn’t add up.

Why do the churches not run their ‘Vacation Bible Schools’ during the daytime? That is when children need something to do.

Did it occur to you that the teacher might just be holding down a normal 9.00am to 5.00pm job? A child should be free and safe in Cayman to attend whatever, whenever! Why do you choose to criticize the church? Help to make your society safe for all. Could be your child some day!!
no child should be left to wait alone at that time of night. those running the bible school should have enough sense to know not to leave minors without supervision. where is common sense these days?

Bible school, cinema, schools, parties, restaurants, banks, beaches, hotels, homes nowhere is safe!
6.27 pm that means we ALL need to be part of the solution, not criticising or blaming everyone else. The Police on their own cannot cleanse this society. It will need everybody to be pro-active and supportive of the Police. What have you done to help?
My comments was merely to highlight the fact that no where is safe anymore. If a church is not safe to attend without fear of abduction, robbed or provoked then, no where is safe. Yes I am doing my part and one step in curbing crime is to ensure I am a good parent. Despite the lack of opportunities that are available to our young graduates.

I always thought that narrowing down your suspect pool was a smart thing, but hey what do I know.

An accent? How does that help as I can change mine depending on the situation.
Ascertaining an accent does not really help with an investigation to a significant extent.1. Some people can switch their accents and 2. An accent of a person isn’t kept on file and is not really recordable and 3. And accent does not indicate nationality or citzenship accurately.
The suspect could have been wearing a reversible shirt, for example, blue and white stripes on one side, plain blue on the other. They might have been bald and wearing a mohawk wig. That did not stop the police from reporting what was observed and reported. Why not report what the witness said about accent? Clothing and hairstyle say almost nothing about nationality and citizenship. An accent might provide a clue.
