(CNS): A Remington shotgun and three cartridge cases that were stolen from the home of a licensed gun owner in North Side last month have been found in Spotts. The RCIPS said that as part of their investigation officers had conducted a search in public land off Shamrock Road on Tuesday, where they came across the missing firearm and ammunition, which was reported stolen after a burglary in July.

No arrests have been made in connection with the burglary, but police said the enquiries continue to identify those involved.

Any news yet on the charges that should have been laid with the owner for failing to properly secure his weapon thereby allowing it to be taken in the first place?

And will the police give him the weapon back?

How do you know the weapon was not properly secured?
Given the opportunity thieves have stolen cocaine from police evidence lockup. Just saying if criminals really want something they will find a way.

Curious to know what charge do you think should be laid if indeed the firearm was not properly secured?

Very true. Police are, at times, criminals too. Can’t tell me that all the seized drugs, which have gone missing for years repetitively, are not sometimes the product of police impropriety.

        “stolen”

Can we explicitly state where the “stolen gun” was found that was missing since July apparently? On public land off Shamrock Road in Spotts is extremely vague…. I doubt I need to tell RCIPS and FRU Unit how to do their job, but a firearm being found at random, in the open in a residential area is a very serious situation, at least for the Cayman Islands. Suppose someone got to it before law enforcement?

RCIPS, PACT Government(Heather and Wayne) clear the air here, please.

Something is not right about this. Getting the gun and ammunition off the street is a good thing. There is, however, something more here.

Shotgun rounds are called “shells”. Shotgun “cases” are several boxes of shells with each box holding 25 shells. Each case has 20 boxes, or a cumulative 500 shells.

I have a feeling that three rounds or shells were found. Not that it matters, but three cases would be 1500 rounds, or shells.
