CAL seeks clearance from CUBA for flight
(CNS): Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) is asking the Cuban authorities for permission to operate a repatriation flight from Grand Cayman to Havana to repatriate Cuban nationals currently living here and to bring Caymanians in Cuba home. This flight will be for permanent residents of either country only. In order to comply with the Cuban authorities’ requirements, Cubans who are permanent residents currently living in Cayman are being asked to submit their interest this week via email.
CAL said there will be only one flight taking Cubans to Havana and bringing back Cayman residents to Grand Cayman. The flight is being proposed before the end of this month but CAL said the date is subject to approval from Cuba.
The deadline to submit expressions of interest is 23 August and potential passengers are being asked to email havanatravel@caymanairways.net.
Email contact is preferred, but travellers may also call Cayman Airways Reservations on 949-2311 and request to be added to the list for consideration.
Proposed passengers will be required to supply their full name as it appears on their passport, their passport number, gender, date of birth, province of residence in Cuba and their primary contact details in Cayman.
Caymanians who are currently in Cuba may be repatriated back home on the return leg of the same flight once they have received approval from Travel Cayman for re-entry. Details on the application process and entry requirements can be found on the Cayman Islands Government’s website here.
No return flights can be offered in either direction at this time, so all tickets will be one way.

Wish they could do a repatriation flight to my city. I need a cayman vacation!
How many Caymanians are stuck in Cuba that need to come home? Is there really a need to waste money to go to Cuba.
Operate a few more flights a week to Miami so that students and their families can get their kids to school and back. It is quite stupid to tell you that they are putting on flights to get you there and then you are stuck for weeks trying to get home..Who is incharge of this Travel Cayman now? Can they please appoint someone from Cayman Airways that understand something about flight planning please?
And what about the Cubans families that want to come to the Cayman Islands? Did you think about it? Did you know that the last flight to Cuba was in January? Sometimes you can’t be so selfish
We are not open? Cubans that want to come here must understand that..There is nothing selfish about that..So should we operate a flight to Columbia if people from there want to come here..You do know that the Government is paying for these flights

When is Cayman going to announce Miami flights for September. It is absolutely ridiculous that two weeks out and I still cannot get home from taking my child to school.
I understand now that Cayman Airways are protecting all of those that booked the ghost flights so even when they open up the flights they are likely to be full. Most of these people will likely be going on non-essential travel (vacation) and that should not be allowed as it punishes us who use the flights for the right reasons..I still can’t understand why they can’t operate more than two or three flights a week. or at least operate two back to back on Saturdays and Sundays.
It was a good thing that both the CIG and CAL themselves said don’t book Ghost Flights on multiple occasions.
Why? How many Caymanians are there? It can’t be that many..fly the SAAB over there and pick them up. If they have been there for over a year and half they must be well settled by now.
I know the Cubans here are not looking to go back to that mess right now.

Why are so called “repatriation” flights from Miami going to the Brac first when there is no testing capacity there? Which politician is getting dropped off, and how is this type of abuse of office allowable with PACT in charge?
