(CNS): The Cayman Islands has seen another day without a positive case of COVID-19, as the coronavirus-free status of the country begins to look all the more certain. On Tuesday Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee reported on 256 test results that were carried out over the last day, all of which were negative. It is now more than three weeks since the last positive results were reported and there are no active cases here.

Cayman has completed 30,657 tests and turned up 203 positive results in total but it has now been free of active cases for 12 days and has seen only two positive results in more than five weeks.

  1. Just need an update ✈️ says:

The lack of no briefing is very stressful for those of us overseas. I understand there’s a lot more going on than just covid, but as the border closure is impacting so many of us, it would be good if the powers that be, could send out a press release with a weekly update even if they don’t come on YouTube 📺. The only update we are getting is covid negative streak 🤔

Kinda wish our banks would give enough shits to competently provide local merchants with decent functional current-decade credit/debit point of sale machines that actually accept tap to pay without signing anything. Every POS transaction is unnecessarily problematic because their dated terminals suck.

Jamaica 43 cases on April 26th. 10 cases August 2nd. Tragic.

This streak wont last for long. There are cases still in existance in Cayman, its just that they arent being picked up and its only a matter of time before we get positives again. And just wait till 1 month after the borders open Sept 1st and the chit show will be in full gear again. Just look whats happening in the Bahamas and Jamaica.

Hopefully there are cases still in the community. We will one day have to achieve high immunity to move on from this virus.

There is no such thing as immunity. They did testing of antibodies and found low amounts of people who had it.

You are right but actually wrong. While you can be reinfected it is generally accepted it is very unlikely. If you are reinfected the illness will be less severe then the initial infection. How do you think the Spanish Flu ended without a vaccine.

So there is no such thing as immunity, but low amounts of people have it? Great logic.

How many times do professionals have to debunk immunity before you dimwits get it?! People around the world are getting sick with this virus more than once, immunity does not last!

          Read what professionals say
There may be limited immunity for a period of time! it is not know how long it last months, years or weeks!
They have also found people from 5 years ago may have immunity from T cells, maybe 60% of the population.
If there is no such thing as immunity how will a vaccine work?
What is one of the leading vaccines also triggering the same T cell response that was found in people that show immunity now?

It was the Bahamians Locals that caused the problem as they where exempt testing and did not isolate on return and no second test.
There was over 4500 locals that travel out of the country when it first opened for weekends away.
You cant blame the tourists there for the mess!
As for Jamaica what are you talking about?
