(CNS): Three men landed in hospital this morning following a fight outside the Bananas Bar at the Dolphin Plaza on Eastern Avenue, George Town, early Monday morning. Police said that at around 2:00am they were called to the brawl in the car park, where they found that a large group had been involved in the altercation in which at least three people were badly hurt.

Two of the men with stab wounds were taken to hospital after the emergency services were called. A third man presented to the private Doctors Express medical clinic later on this morning, where an ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital.

One of the first men taken to the hospital directly from the fight has since been discharged after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The other two men, however, had sustained more serious injuries and both remain in the hospital in stable conditions.

Over the last couple of years, the bar in question has been the scene of numerous violent incidents, including murder and gun violence.

Detectives are now investigating the circumstances of the fight and the assaults and are encouraging anyone with information about what took place to contact the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.

The problem with this licensed premise is the hours of operation. It operates from 8:00 pm – 4:00 am most nights, whereas other bars in GT close their doors at 2:00am. Patrons of the bars that close at 2:00am go to Bananas and cause problems for this establishment.

Late night consumption of a toxic liquid that can result in an overdose and violence? Perfectly fine.

Mid-shift consumption of nicotine laced tobacco on government time? Perfectly fine.

Growing your own weed (no overdoses in history) and relaxing with a spliff after work? LOCK THAT CAYMANIAN UP!

Sigh. No one has ever consumed cannabis and want to attack anything other than a bag of chips. Yet we allow the more harmful.

Notice you hardly hear about these types of incidents at the few bars that plays country music and some good ole calypso and reggae where more mature and civilized people hang out? It’s very rare to find a local bar nowadays that plays anything in English. Bar owners, here’s a suggestion….play more country music and you’ll eventually get rid of the bums and fighting idiots. Problem solved.

FYI. I don’t play music. I am an elderly country music lover that would love to sit and enjoy my beer without having to listen to latin music all friggin night. This is Cayman, not Honduras or the DR. You got that? I guess you’re probably one of the married men that are wasting your monthly salary on the latina barmaids or some fool fool Caymanian gal that married some dude in order for him to get permanent residency. Poor unna. Since you’re a risk taker, I’m sure I’ll be reading about you sooner or later while I’m sitting comfortably at my lil hot spot listening to some good ole Merle Haggard and George Jones. Toodle Loo, Hater!

This government fritters-away millions and millions on suppressive litigation/avoidable settlement payouts yet can’t see their way clear to install $500 worth of functioning CCTV in the handful of logical ground zero crime hotspots where violent weaponized crime and murder recurs again and again and again, for like 30 years. What is the corrupt truce agreement between CIG/RCIPS and the criminal gangs that hold these areas?!?

Segregate the Jamacians, Caymanians and Spanish to their own bars so they can slap kick stab each other and leave us others be.

Americans, Canadians, and Asians will grab anything, knives included to “defend themselves and their human rights”. Whereas Caymanians tend to use their fists and get in a good drop down roll up. Hell, Jamacians are quicker tho throw a punch or break a bottle over pulling a knife.

Spaniards are the ones who tend to use knives as their weapon of choice, so don’t lump Caymanians and Jamacians in with them. We are not the same.
