Ian Hopkins, Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police

(CNS): British born Salman Abedi (22) has been confirmed by the chief constable of Greater Manchester Police as the suicide bomber who blew himself up outside a pop concert in the city last night, killing 22 people and wounding at least 59 others. As world leaders reacted to the terrorist attack, Cayman’s premier and the governor released statements here, as flags flew at half mast. Manchester police have named Georgina Callander (18), Saffie Rose Roussos (8) and John Atkinson (26) as three of the victims killed in the worst terrorist attack in the UK for a more than a decade.

The suicide bomber, said to be from the city of Manchester, also died in the explosion. He was the second youngest of four children, whose parents are Libyan refugees who went to the UK to escape the Gaddafi regime. The UK authorities have confirmed that the terrorist group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack and intelligence organisations are working on finding who assisted Abedi to carry out the attack.

“It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the senseless terrorist attack on concert-goers in Manchester, England, on Monday night,” Premier Alden McLaughlin said, as he spoke about the frantic search parents and guardians had looking for their children who had gone to the Ariana Grande concert. “Flags in the Cayman Islands were ordered to be flown at half-mast on Tuesday. Our prayers, thoughts and sympathy go out to the people of Manchester and England as they pull together in the aftermath of this act of terrorism.”

Meanwhile, Governor Helen Kilpatrick said, “We were all shocked and saddened to learn of the terrible events that took place in Manchester last night. As the prime minister has stated, all acts of terrorism are cowardly attacks on innocent people. This attack deliberately targeted children and young people and is therefore particularly despicable; its intention was to sow fear but it will not succeed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones.”

Officials said flags will remain at half mast until further notice.

Don’t be so bloody stupid in not believing that a terrorist attack cannot happen in the Cayman islands .
Who do the terrorist want to kill when they do their attacks ? Look at the large amount of people who arrive on cruise ships . Those are the kind of targets the terrorist like . Look at how ineffective the Cayman islands Government is in protecting the border . Do we have people living in the Cayman and Immigration don’t even know how they got to the Islands ?

This is why I think that the Government and you should be watching and learning and making a plan to prevent an attack .

Notice how many Catholics or Baptists are blowing up areas? None.
Wonder why they seem to be all muslim??? Hmmmm. Seem to be a connection.

CNS: Here is a list of bombings carried out by the Catholic IRA over the course of about 30 years – Click here
The IRA was largely funded by Irish Americans before they found out in 2001 what it is that terrorists actually do.

Ah yeah but they would make a phone call and they didn’t target kids on a night out. The only reason it stopped is because a little know truth…..the protestants started out killing them. Anyway this current madness won’t stop while the world treats the Saudis and their ideology as masters. The Saudis fund it, they teach the imams, export it to the world. Wahabism. Yet Trump stands up and points at Iran and gives the Saudis and the Gulf states weapons! Gee I wonder where those weapons will end up…..

I wonder if the Cayman islands Government is learning anything from all of these terrorist attacks . I hope that they are paying attention , and making a plan to prevent one from happening in the Islands .

But it’s funny that no one in CI Government has yet not spoken out about and is condemning the terrorism .
I wonder if the Government will be cooperative in the fight against terrorist organization by cutting off their funding like what President Trump is trying to do with the terrorist .

The main issue here is the failure and refusal to assimilate into one’s adopted country / culture.

Interestingly, this plays out in many places and in various forms.
Whereas some are by no means explosive, they are by no means less harmful.

Anyway, after all is said and done, the quickest and most effective way to address these issues and domestic threats is to reassess the foreign policy of one’s country – which is regularly cited as the motivation.

I think it is pretty clear that the meaning of racism has changed radically in common parlance in the last 10-20 years or so to become a catch-all expression for “other”.

So we cannot even criticize a religion or idology we don’t agree with?Lest it be a nuanced version of racism? You speak of some kind of post modern neo Marxist political nonsense. For one i am not willing to cede the meaning of words and language.

There are sanctimonious religious folk that hide behind the “christian” moniker and then there are non-religious people who get what Jesus said.

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven.”

Which one are you? If you despise organized religion, you are halfway there. If you hate me because I love Jesus, then I would say that there is a problem in Houston.

For your information this man was born in Manchester, his parents were refugees not him. Dont blame the entire refugee population on one terrorist attack. Do u even know what a refugee is? Why dont you do some reasearch on the horrors of war before you start writing ridiculous comments like this. Im sure if Cayman or America were being bombed, chemically gased, slaughtered, raped you would be the first to try and flee the country just like anyone else would be. Muslims are not bad people! Terroists are bad people! I dare you to try and grasp that concept, your head might hurt for a while but it will you do you some good to understand it.

Why don’t you do some research of the horrors of war?

What on earth do you think contributed to this mans decision to blow himself up and i’m sure it was not because of all the times his parents carried him chucky cheeses.

Refugees from a civil war torn religion stricken country is never a good idea especially when the country is influenced by one of the worst ideas in human history, islam.

Why are there more terrorist attacks in Europe and why are most carried out by muslims?

…Because they let refugees in from a worn torn country. Do I know what refugee means? Yes it means trouble.

I’m not one for condoning trump, however it would seem as though his highly controversial US implemented “travel ban” of which included Libya could have negated this event seeing as though Salman Abedi had been traveling to Libya before the attack.
Although it is an extreme measure, affecting many innocent individuals and perhaps not the appropriate way to deal with the issue, there is some food for thought.
