(CNS): The former education minister was in traffic court on Monday facing a single charge relating to drinking and getting behind the wheel of his car, but this time it appears that Rolston Anglin was netted by the cops before he made it onto the road. Anglin is charged with ‘being in charge of a vehicle whilst intoxicated’, a different charge to DUI, in connection with an arrest in September of last year. The former minister, who was elected three times in West Bay on the UDP ticket, made no comment during his brief appearance in court before the case was adjourned until next month.

Anglin was convicted of drinking and driving in November 2012 following a crash on the West Bay Road in the early morning hours of 23 May of that year. He had been arrested and charged at the scene of the single vehicle collision when he drove his car into a ditch. No one, including a mystery female passenger who was travelling with him, was hurt in the accident.

Following an eleventh hour change of plea to guilty after Anglin had at first denied the charges, he lost his licence for twelve months, paid a five hundred dollar fine as well as the crown’s costs of almost $2,500, and attended a drunk driving rehabilitation course.  At the time Anglin said he was well aware of the gravity of the charges and had learned his lesson, as he urged others not to make the same mistake.

Anglin had a valid licence when he was arrested during the latest incident. It is understood that he was sitting in his vehicle at the time of the arrest and not driving, as the car was still stationary in a parking lot.
