Overstayer waiting deportation after raid in ‘Swamp’

(CNS): A 24-year-old Jamaican national found to be living in the Cayman Islands on an expired work permit was arrested last week following a raid in the Swamp area of George Town and is currently in CBC custody awaiting deportation. The police and CBC conducted a raid just off Cypros Road, Thursday in response to reported community concerns about illegal activity and allegations of immigration offences.

On approaching the location, officers arrested one man but a second man ran from the scene and made good his escape.

In a press release about the joint operation the RCIPS & CBC offered their thanks to the community for bringing the matters to their attention.

  1. Who are they hiding from? says:

If CBC are looking for overstayers they should start pulling over all of these people riding around on bikes with their faces covered. What are they hiding from? COVID? The sun?? I guarantee half of them are hiding their faces from CBC, an ex-boss, a current boss, a baby momma, the cops. Somebody is looking for them.

So, a pre-planned operation resulted in one of two people escaping? How do they go about these things?

It reminds me of the INTELLIGENCE computer from Team America.

All these buy a work permit people need to be rounded up and deported, the people who are getting their permits need to also face stiff fines and possibly jail time. All those workers at the LG Hyatt site, where they all checked to see if they were working under the terms and classification of the issued permits? Were other LG sites checked? Were there any over-stayers on that site? It sure seems that that incident has been swept under the rug. Makes one think that there is some high up pulling the strings.

Government issues work permits. They know when they expire.
Government controls the borders. They know who arrives and when. They know when they leave.
Government has at least one computer.

    Here is an idea:

Ask the computer who is still here after the expiry of their work permit. Those are the people to go for. No need for raids that people can run from.

    We appear governed by idiots.

…”We appear governed by idiots.” And each is duly elected – the real idiots is the electorate. Sadly, the Ministers are successful grifters, con-artists and abusers.

The ministers are not the ones operating the computers, guarding our borders, and issuing work permits. Just sayin.

A fish rots from the head down. Your point is well taken, but the Electorate is responsible for electing Ministers; they fail in their self-responsibility – then cry for relief from what entails. I have zero sympathy.

They are not idiots if they keep getting away with it all the time getting big fat paychecks and sweetheart deal benefits. We are the idiots who keep putting them in office.

They are also getting big and FAT!
Latest photos show almost every single one of the elected has gained at least 20 pounds if not more.
Nice and cushy jobs and eating well is very evident.

When it takes at least 6 months for a work permit to even be processed because the staff are “so busy”, who do you think is going to say they have the time to do this extra work? There is zero accountability, the government departments all claim they are understaffed (despite having one of the highest per capita civil service employment figures going) but no one does anything about it as they all enjoy the benefits of being paid to do very little.

      I know, right?

Your idea resonates as suspiciously close to the CBC job description. Didn’t used to be an issue. Someone came up as overstaying and they were literally hunted down, and often detained until the issue was resolved.

The entire administration arm of the cayman islands is run by the very nationality committing the most permit crimes. the fox is guarding the hen house, but we are also governed by incompetent MLA’s, that i cannot refute. I bet they dont ask for a single status update on matters of immigration.

I also never understood how people with outstanding PR fees are allowed to stay. Give them a final notice, revoke the PR and put them on a plane.
