Over 6,000 CUC customers hit by power outage
(CNS): CUC said that an outage at one of the substations on Thursday evening impacted more than 6,000 customers in West Bay, who were all left without power for around an hour. The outage appeared to cause a number of small explosions around the district and brought down several electricity lines. CUC said that crews were out to attend to those lines in a matter of minutes to begin reconnecting the supply.

Bury those ugly power lines
Good idea but would you wish to pay for that cost. That is, keeping the wires fully sealed away from the ground water.

Despite all the grumblings about CUC bills, I hope Cayman’s residents will acknowledge that, with CUC, we get what we pay for.
We pay premium rates BUT we get premium service – every time!! Compare the standard of our power supply with that of neighbouring countries, Jamaica, Honduras, etc. and CUC excels!!

Premium service would include better reliability and better preventative maintenance. But that costs money meaning profit reduction. Electricity is essential in this modern day, especially for a major finance hub. While you laud reaction times, the aim is to have less of them.
True. With most other Caribbean countries rolling blackouts are the norm.
CUC May have its faults, no pun intended, but they do a great job.

Power companies make money on kWH used. If the power is out, then they are not making money.
