North Side station fire deliberate, say police
(CNS): The RCIPS has confirmed that investigations already indicate that the fire at the North Side Police Station early Monday morning, 31 July, was set deliberately and police are following a specific positive line of inquiry. The blaze caused major damage to the premises and the station is not operational.
Calls for service to the station are being forwarded to the Bodden Town station, but officers will continue to respond to calls and conduct all other policing duties in the district. The North Side officers will be based at the East End Police Station until another location is identified, the RCIPS said in their latest update.
Investigations into the act of arson will continue and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220. Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or the website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to caymancrimestoppers.com.

Shameful, I hope there were cameras.
🤣😂
why is the police station empty?
Because in the infinite wisdom of the Police Commissioner and Cabinet they feel that it should be left unattended and empty after normal business hours.
The Police Commissioner does not have the resolve to get the station properly staffed so that there are at least 2 people on duty 24/7.
Common Sense is not one a strong point of the current Police Commissioner or for that matter the political representative for North Side.
this is pure madness…not even in developing countries police stations remain unmanned and unsecured…the scale of absurdity on this rock is mind boggling…is it some sort of experiment conducted by the UK? definitely RCIPS existence in Cayman defies common sense
You funny. That station has never been manned up. Ever. And it appears there was no fire or burglar alarm. But nothing to see here, what happens in North Side stays in North Side.
Police are investigating.
Burning Down Da House!
If there aren’t going to be police officers in these district stations, serving, protecting, and responding to the public, then what are they for?
Exactly, for the day shift to sit down on their @*** and collect a paycheck.
Should be more police on duty at night
There is no social order in Cayman. It’s in the state of anarchy. L I T E R A L L Y.
The Police Staton arson can only happen in a lawless, totally dysfunctional country.
Only visitors are arrested effectively and efficiently, charged and fined(or jailed)⬅️This alone speak volumes about who is running the God forsaken territory➡️Hoodlum are not acting alone, they are protected.
“The station is not operational”
Let us all be honest with ourselves, most of them aren’t operational at the best of times.
Not even the police station is safe in North Side – the world we live in 2023.
Police work in Cayman has devolved into mostly after-the-fact actuarial support for victims filing a complaint to the universe, or recouping losses via an insurance claim. Few police are on shift past dinner time, and this arsonist had no expectation of being filmed or apprehended in the act.
I wonder if there are surveillance cameras there? If not, should be.
I believe we have only one police man in NS, and of course he cannot be on duty 24/7.
NS does not need someone sitting in a police station, we need someone out and about … who can be contacted directly by telephone if need be. I expect this is indeed the case …
The police station surely is a relic of a bygone age?
Duh
