The writing is on the wall for the PPM
The Constitutional Critic writes: I have said it before and I’ll say it again, the only thing the PPM has really been successful in doing in the past 19 years is constructing and maintaining the lie that has convinced a portion of the population that there is no other stable alternative to form a government. Anyone who takes a real sober look at the facts should realise that out of the past five general elections (2005, 2009, 2013, 2017, 2021) the PPM have only secured an outright majority one time, that being 2005 when they won nine out of 15 seats.
Again, they have only won a majority ONE time total out of five elections. In 2009 they were wiped out, in 2013 they relied upon C4C candidates to secure a majority, in 2017 they lost three ministers in one night and relied upon the CDP and Independents to form a majority, and in 2021 they only managed to maintain most of their incumbents, they made no gains, and their vote share dropped to its lowest every level.
The PPM have not held a clear and convincing mandate from the electorate since 2005. They have always acted in the own interests first (the port debacle) and have failed to appeal to a broad portion of the electorate year after year, Outside of George Town and the Sister Islands they are essentially unelectable, which is why they instead of embarrassingly watching their official candidates lose this year decided to attempt to endorse independents in their “alliance”. What kind of independent goes into an election pledging to join up with and work with a party?
I would be willing to bet that without the overall decent handling of the pandemic, this election would have been a bloodbath for the PPM. As things stand, they barely held some of their seats in what should have been a good night for them.
Regardless of the outcome of the current horsetrading, if I were the PPM I would enjoy these next four years while they last, as in my humble estimation the spectre of the CDP will soon be joined by another failed and divisive waste of three letters and a vote.
The writing is on the wall for the PPM and not a moment too soon.

Now we can take back Cayman from all those foreigners on work permits who stay on and get status the lord it over us.
Dollars didn’t work this time around…Find another plan PPM.
What exactly is the alternative to the PPM?. A bunch of independents who are serious about banning all work permit holders from driving, requiring all landholders to develop their land within two years, adopting a national health insurance policy that will require all civil servants and M.P.’s to pay for their medical insurance?. Do these people live in the real world or as seems likely are they primarily interested in the ginormous salaries and expenses on offer?
PPM is a well funded machine that knows how buy and pay for support in GT at all levels.
Sammy Jackson Johann Moxam and Alric Lindsay are far better candidates than Alden McLaughlin (Red Bay) Joey Hew (GTN) and Barbara Connolly (GTS).
Calling early elections helped PPM but resources and money in the right areas was key. PPM have become the old UDP money talks and the country will suffer.
Yep. They had an 8 year head-start and the literal public purse at their disposal.

Either we will have a government with Mac being the center of power or we will have a new election. I prefer a new election.
A public holiday every 6 weeks is just fine with me.
And yet by their tone, you would think they believe that this election has confirmed their right to rule (because that’s what they were doing, make no mistake, ruling over us and not by consent).

The sad part is that there are a few good people in the PPM, but egotistical, self serving and hypocritical individuals like Alden, Moses and Julie (to name the biggest ones) stain the others.

Did anyone notice that he paved his own street Marbel Drive and left the two next to it where the poorer people live in the same condition..Go look at Slate and Helen Drive..They were too close to Dog City and he couldn’t be bothered.
The territory is in shambles under PPM and it’s getting worse.
Overdevelopment. For whom?
SMB is gone
Education is dismal
Vocational training and trade schools don’t exist
Infrastructure is atrocious
Pollution is overwhelming
Cancer rates are staggering
Traffic is a nightmare
The Dump is burning
Waste Management does not exist

Last item should be first.
A thriving education system is vital to a country’s success. There is no way forward without putting education as a priority
Nearly every country that experienced a financial windfall (Qatar, Norway etc) had wisdom to realize that it wasn’t going to last forever and invested in education which equates to future proofing. When the oil runs out, they want to be left with a viable, advanced economy.
But Alden personally pushed for the modern schools to be built over a decade ago. So, as far as he is concerned, the education system is fixed. Go back and read his arguments of the time.

Agreed. But as 11:39a stated, “as far as he (Alden) is concerned”.. Load o’ BS! It takes more than a building eh!
The point is, Alden vehemently argued otherwise, over a decade ago. For you to get thumbs up, shows no one has done their homework. Back then, Alden knew best and spent millions of our money so he could have monuments to himself. No one should ever forget how arrogant this man is! Two weeks ago he was going to be the new Minister of Finance.
