(CNS): Government’s target of inoculating 90% of the over 60s is getting closer as 70% of people in this age group have received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine and 80% of the over 70s have had at least one COVID-19 shot, public health officials said Monday. Over the weekend, another 716 people got their first dose at the airport site, as people in the first group in stage two were invited to get the shot.

Health officials have administered 13,609 vaccines to 8,839 people, as 4,770 individuals have now had both doses.

Meanwhile, another three samples among 487 COVID-19 tests carried out over the weekend were positive. All there were in travellers who are in isolation. There are currently 36 active cases of the virus among the 682 people in quarantine and home isolation, and five of those are suffering coronavirus symptoms,

To date, 408 people have tested positive in Cayman and officials have carried out just over 69,000 tests.

How exactly are they able to establish any numbers/percentages when Dr Lee said he didnt have the information to discern how many vaccinated people were permanent residents vs visitors?

  2. anon says:

We have vaccinated the 70% that wanted it. Let’s see how we get on with the remaining 30% that don’t want it.

In the photo, looks like both the recipient and donor are wearing the same shirt
Is this propaganda? I am only asking.
I will never accept an unrighteous test nor an even worse vaccine.
    NEVER!
You do whatever you think is right for you, but I will not be bullied by your decision. Can you people just leave the rest of us alone?
Stop putting pressure on us. Many of us are fitter than you will ever be. I refuse to be punished for your poor life choices.

The extraordinary privilege of having landed capacity to offer vaccination so broadly, right now, is truly the envy of the world. We wouldn’t want the HSA to waste a single globally-scarce dose on anyone who hasn’t also volunteered for injection on their required consent form. That’s clearly not going to be you, so relax, and good luck.

“I will never accept an unrighteous test nor an even worse vaccine.”

Just go ahead and get the vaccine, since we are going to chip you one way or another. At least this way you get some protection from Covid-19 in return for us knowing your thoughts and whereabouts 24/7.

Stop this nonsense, you’re scaring people with your cr@p.

There is no arguing with the Q crowd, so you might as well play along with their fears. But maybe the poster should have added a warning: “This post is not for sane people.”

    Yes or no? Simple.
    Science does not lie.

Slow roll out. Need more innovated ways to reach the elderly population. Cant force them all to take.
Israel programme vaccinated both old and young to get the herd immunity necessary to open the borders. Slower the roll out longer cayman is shut

  6. To reach the other 40% elderly ones nurses should physically go door to door to reach them. But they will never get a full 100% of elderly ones to accept it.

Is cayman wasting vaccines? But waiting on those who do not show up is wasting time. Im sure caymanians in the community will like to get it. But roll out is slow. why not take a page from Israel program Vaccinate both the old but doeses remaining give to those who show up in other stages. Not turning them away. I’m sure the BA flight coming every 2 weeks is dependable.

How can n they say that when they are using the 2010 census as a guide.

And when are the borders reopening for tourists? Government needs to issue stimulus cheques like every other country or do another pension fund withdrawal. I’m selling personal items on Ecaytrade to buy food.

Have you looked into employment opportunities at Government, in Financial Services, in Real Estate or Construction or Development, or at any charity that is employing people?

5:31 then go and seek a job instead of expecting handouts.

    • Anonymous says:

Umm…how about you get a job??

    • Anonymous says:

Not every other country has done stimulus cheques. Those that did, it’s because their citizens pay taxes.

You can’t keep sitting around waiting for government to help you! Alden said, when the borders closed almost 11 months ago, that tourism workers needed to find work elsewhere as it would be a long time with no tourism.

I would tell you the supermarkets are understaffed and seeking employees but they pay minimum wage CI$6ph or CI$1056 a month which our Premier admitted nobody can live off of so you’re better off trying NICE or finding a way to get the tourism stipend or any other welfare avenue which pay more for doing less. Yes, sarcasm may be noted because government is clearly pushing many Caymanians into a welfare system so that they can be better controlled.

Name those who haven’t so we can at least know who we are being held hostage by.

    • Free to choose says:

It’s the government’s policy that’s holding you hostage, not me. My body. My choice.

      • Anonymous says:

Open borders w/ just protest and vaccination requirements. Skip the quarantine. Have tourists wear masks in public locations if necessary, but drop the 10-14 days!

        • Anonymous says:

Yeah, I’d prefer not to put fatigued ignorance at the helm of public health policy. We’d quickly descend to the ambient misery of everywhere else right now…incubation period is still 14 days and vaccines are perhaps only 5-10% effective against the rapidly spreading 501Y.v2. The planet is effectively dealing with two simultaneous pandemics where current vaccines are only designed to address the one from 2019.

      • Anonymous says:

That is correct. I don’t agree with you, but I wholeheartedly support your right to choose. Just wondering though… do you support women’s rights to choose? How about LGBTQs’ right to choose?

        • Free to choose says:

Of course. And the right to end one’s own life. These are fundamental freedoms that some seek to erode. This cannot ever be allowed to happen – to anyone, anywhere. Any restrictions, however justified by good intentions or religious beliefs, are pure dictatorship in disguise, not democracy, and go against everything that free citizens hold dear.

    • Keep your nose in your own business says:

9:13 What business is it of yours who has decided to take the jab and who hasn’t?

    • Anonymous says:

There are people, like myself, who have had adverse reactions to a simple flu shot and have been advised by our health care professionals to wait on taking the vaccine. Not all of us who are willing and wanting to take it can at this time, so stop being such an asswipe.

Can we please get some stats from Cayman Brac/Little Cayman. You always talk about Grand, but forget that we are also part of the Cayman Islands.
Thank you Dr. Lee, Government, Minister Seymour and CNS

  12. Anonymous says:

Ok, so they will not be protected from the virus. The vaccine studies so far prove that. So what’s next? No plan and island closed until 2025?

    • Anonymous says:

While I agree the no plan plan they have is a joke, your statement that the vaccine does not protect you is incorrect.

But hey why not quarantine people who have had the vaccine, at least the statement that CIG made ” Vaccine is the road to reopening” is now know as BS!

      • Anonymous says:

They keep moving the goal post. When it suits the electioneering, borders will be opened. Until such time, everyone gets to remain hostage to this ever changing “plan”.
