Whilst I did not have the pleasure of knowing this fine gentleman, it is quite obvious from the comments that he was well respected and well liked individual and former officer of the law. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and colleagues. May his soul rest in peace.
Actually, the count from this latest tragedy is two gentlemen and (from what we’ve been told) one lady still clinging to life. We should be thinking of them all, plus the many that preceded them over the years in equally preventable accidents. The best way to honour them all is to challenge the ongoing status quo. We should seek basic boating regulations, even if it is simply to formally adopt international marine codes, and to legislate our insurance companies to offer some kind of mandatory third party boaters insurance. Then the JMU can mobilize an enforcement presence with the tens of millions in budget they have at their disposal.
Hmmmm? Didn’t Ezzard Miller propose measures to improve boating safety a few years ago, which were rejected by Government? Again Ezzard shows why he should be on the Government side of the House at all times. Proactive, educated and for the betterment of Cayman. Nevermind that he has a “gruff” personality, his skills matter!
Vote for Ezzard and his upcoming Team!
He did years ago and McKeeva Bush led the charge in squashing it. He said it would be too costly for the boat owners. He rejected all boating safety measures and to date nothing has been put in place.
The Speargun Member wanted two sets of rules, one for Rooster-listening pickup-driving Caymanians and another for the rich folk who (clearly) deserve to pay all the fines.
We don’t know what happened but that doesn’t matter. We are very sad to hear this news. RIP to a good man. Thoughts are with your family.
If all the police were more like Manny they would get heaps of respect. A great loss to the community. Sincerest condolences to the family.
It was truly a pleasure to be able to know and work with you at Starfish Point for the past two years. Less than five hours before you left us you were standing beside me trying to educate those who care more about their Insta photos than the fragile creatures they hold. Your calm and softly spoken authority was that of a man at ease with serving the public, whether as a Police Officer or whilst operating your water activity business. We shared many past experiences and laughs whilst trying not to cook ourselves in the hot sun, those memories will certainly be with me when I stand under the tree that served as our shade and your office.
I’ve had the privilege of knowing a true gentleman and a man passionate about his beloved home. May you rest in peace my friend.
I’m also so sorry to learn that John Turner was lost with Manny. John was a constant companion of Manny’s at Starfish Point when on island.
John was another gentleman, a good ‘Essex Boy’ who loved his adopted home and cared very much for its jewels, joking with me on Sunday afternoon if I could get him a badge to back up his passion for protecting the starfish.
It was a privilege to know both men and my heartfelt condolences go to both families.
A. Mackay.
It also should not be overlooked, John too was a special person. Not only a special friend to Caymanian people but to all whom he touched.
We lost two good people everyone.
Let this traffic incident not fall on deaf ears, show justice, stand tall, pay tribute, and remember.
I pray
@1:17 DOE Officer Mackay
To quote you, this says everything you would ever need to know about Manny:
“You were standing beside me trying to educate those who care more about their Insta photos than the fragile creatures they hold. Your calm and softly spoken authority was that of a man at ease with serving the public”. He was a true Gentleman
We should all take note and strive hard to raise children that will portray similar attributes everyday…
God Bless you Manny, and warm hugs and love to your family & friends

RIP “E-Man”… Very nice, down to earth person who always had a smile on his face.
Rest In Peace Mr. Brown, such a tragedy. May God comfort his family in these sad and hurtful times.
Very sad to see another life cut short.
Not attributing any blame.
Sincere condolences.
We really need:
-awareness,
-common seaman courtesy
-education,
-voluntary compliance
-legislation,
-enforcement
-support
for all things marine in these Islands.
Make our forefathers/mothers proud.
12:08pm, Perhaps the legislation could have some reference to his memory as he seemed to have been a lover of the sea. Unfortunately, too often it takes tragedies to make changes for the good.
He’s a former police officer but once you have served and not dishonored the oath then you remain a member of this enteral fraternity regardless of the next chapter pursued; thus, we mourn his passing with profound sadness along with his loved ones.
As others have commented, we shall remember his endearing smile and a reminder of his goodness.
We salute your unselfish service to the RCIPS and peoples of these islands. RIP.
My condolences to his family. He was one of the good guys.
Rest my friend, you will be truly missed!
Always had a smile on his face whenever I saw him.
This man was such gentlemen. So caring and friendly, an all-around happy person…you just felt good to be in presence and speak to him. This is so sad. Horrible reminder though that it can be here today – gone tomorrow for all of us.
Live your best life everyday, stay humbled, and love all. Passion + Impact
Rest In Peace Emmanuel see you on the other side bro Marine DTF Port Starboard Midship Watches. There are no words said that can fill that void created by your tragic loss to both your children and family and friends. But we take comfort knowing that your love for sea is where you would have want to be.
