If it’s the junction, I think it is, I’m not surprised; it’s been an accident waiting to happen since day one. If trying to turn right to head towards the cricket ground – it’s a nightmare to get out of. Easier to go to lights at Jacques Scott, turn left and go down to the roundabout by Mid-Town Plaza.

If it wasn’t that junction – the above is still all true!

Is this the airport road junction? If so, when is someone going to realise that the junction needs a roundabout. It’s not as though there is not the space!

5.25pm I could not agree more. Traffic from the airport direction wanting to turn right onto Smith Rd have to queue up and often take chances to beat the traffic flow. Why Government have taken no action on this problem is a mystery – how many more accidents do we need?.

Why “take chances”? If you are only turning right into the centre lane then it is quite easy to wait for the clear opportunity. Then merge left a bit further on if necessary.
Problems occur when drivers turn right but go all the way across to the left lane, so they cross 3 lanes. This should NOT be done anywhere there is 3 lanes.
        Make 2 manouvers NOT 1.

A roundabout would be the solution IF people could use roundabouts.

The ‘CTMH’ roundabout for the bypass/Red Bay/Shamrock Road/Dual carriageway. Vehicles heading east frequently turn right onto Shamrock Road by using the outside lane…this is tourists, taxi drivers, truck drivers, regular locals…for the love of god, somebody put up a sign showing how stupid this is!!!! Slightly off-topic I know, but I may well commit murder one day, and this posting will be my proof I was broken mentally by this issue.

I get you! 1/2 way round or less, the left lane, more than 1/2 way round the right lane.

        Can’t fix stupid though!

So true!!! I was in a taxi last night on the bypass heading towards West Bay, we were in the right hand lane and needed to turn right at the roundabout towards Morgans. The driver then moved to the left land and went all the way in the outside lane to turn right and was VERY UPSET when the driver he cut up on the inside sounded his horn. He continued to rant that it was a good job he learned how to drive properly and everyone should take a lesson out of his book…he genuinely thought he was in the right!! Where is the sense in getting in the left lane to go right??

Please do not forget the roundabout by A L Thompson leading to Camana bay. That is a death trap. I will use that road to go down to eastern avenue, but not to go up to industrial park. Too many close calls on that one.
