(CNS): Immigration staff have begun “migrant reception and detention protocols” after seven more Cuban men landed on Cayman Brac around 8:30am this morning, officials said, though no details were released about the vessel in which the latest group of migrants arrived. The latest group brings the number of Cubans currently held by the immigration department to 109.

The Immigration Detention Centre  at Fairbanks can only hold around 50 to 60 migrants and so many of the Cubans, most of whom have arrived since the beginning of this year, are being detained in civic centres in the eastern districts.

Officials deported 32 migrants last week but costs are running higher and higher for government as it faces a surge in the arrivals of Cubans trying to reach Honduras on their journey to the US in makeshift boats.

Why won’t goverment let the people help send these migrants to america or honduras? By fund raising? A flight to honduras is little over 200, i’m sure enough people will be willing to donate and we can give some of these migrants better lives.
