Police appeal for eye-witnesses to Jet Ski crash
(CNS) Investigators from the Joint Marine Unit are appealing for witnesses to the collision of two Jet Skis off Seven Mile Beach near the Westin Resort & Spa on Wednesday afternoon. Robert Cole (31) who was visiting from the USA on a cruise ship was killed when the personal watercraft (PWC) he was riding collided with another PWC driven by a 15-year-old boy also visiting Cayman from the US on a cruise ship.
Police say that Cole was thrown into the water and his passenger, identified as Amy Comer (37) in US media reports, was also thrown from the PWC. (See earlier CNS report)
“She heard an awful noise and next thing she knew they were in the water and he was facedown,” said Kathy Comer, the mother of Cole’s friend, who described it as a freak accident.
Comer is understood to have left Cayman last night and returned to Virginia after all of the parties involved had remained to help with the police investigation. It is not clear if the teenager, who was out riding with his brothers and father when the ocean crash occurred, remains in Cayman.
Anyone who may have seen what happened is asked to contact Sergeant Antonio Hanna antonio.hanna@rcips.ky; or Constable Garvin Dixon garvin.dixon@rcips.ky or by calling the Joint Marine Unit on (345) 516 – 5140.

Rcips should check the footage on tape from the Governor’s Mansion. They have widefield cameras pointed out to sea.
