Smash-and-run driver leaves plate behind
(CNS): A driver who rear-ended another vehicle on Crewe Road, George Town, on Tuesday evening fled the scene but left his bumper behind with the registration plate attached, leaving a significant clue to his identity. Police responded to the collision near Ryan’s Retreat at about 5pm, where they learned that both cars involved were heading east when one stopped to turn right. As it did, a white Honda Integra hit it from behind, damaging a door and fender.
No one was hurt. But despite literally losing bits of his vehicle, the driver sped off and police, armed with the plate, are currently making an effort to locate the driver and his damaged car.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the vehicle is encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.

Looks like the police were given the evidence on a plate.
i bet the police will still mess this up….
Thia is why I ride a horse.
Bumper still there, cotch up by Ryan’s Retreat if anyone needs a spare.
Got to give credit where credit’s due, well done, CNS, great picture for the story!
Link the license plate number to the DMV database system which has all the drivers information and get his/her home address and arrest them from their home….
Look at Captain Obvious here…
It may be obvious, but do the police actually have access to a system that does that?….
If you mean a functional system then no. It was probably one of the many cars never registered with a stole plate that CIG has pardoned in its effort to win votes.
5:04 PM – Why haven’t the police done this before if its so … “Obvious”. 7:39 PM – If they can search your car/home with no warning, surely they can pull some government information to catch a criminal.
You would think, not least given the millions we have spent.
Doesn’t work if the guy hasn’t paid his fees and they’re driving a car they a) haven’t registered/transferred in their name yet or b) if their home address etc hasn’t been updated on their drivers license. Might not be that straightforward unfortunately – even if it leads to the right place and owner what evidence do they have the owner was actually driving the car?
Thank goodness you are not in law enforcement. How are you so sure the registered owner committed the crime?
Surely this should be quick and easy right? The plate should be registered to an address? I mean it is a Honda so chances are its been stolen from somewhere so maybe not…
Who wants to bet they still don’t find the guy?
Guy? What makes you think it wasn’t a woman?
Anyway, considering the state of DMV and the fact that RCIPS haven’t released the vehicle’s reg number I’d say the odds are pretty good on them not finding whoever it was.
Who said it was a guy?
Statistics
Statistics don’t say 100% of the people who do this are guys.
Statistics also don’t rely on ignorance. Like you.
You’d make a terrible detective. Solved the case based on statistics did you? No need to investigate? You should apply for the RCIPS. Oh wait. You probably work there already. Hi
yawn…maybe it wasn’t a man or a woman……zzzzzzz
9:32 LOL, good comment!
My dog did it!
No integraty at all.
Bravo
