Driver admits killing nurse in South Sound crash
(CNS): Kesley Arnoldo Martinez-Ebanks (27) pleaded guilty to causing the death of Kiarah Perkins Williams (32) by dangerous driving in a major South Sound crash more than two years ago. Ebanks, who was also injured, was bailed to return to court in September to allow the lawyers in the case to discuss charges relating to other people who were hurt in the collision, which involved six people.
Williams, who was from the United States and working for the Health Services Authority (HSA) at the time, was killed when the Honda Fit she was driving was hit by Ebanks’ Changan CS75 SUV at around 1:00am on 23 May 2021 by the Palm Springs apartments.

Check the RCIPS data. The problem is speeding, poor lane discipline, careless driving. The RCIPS data presents the facts. The focus on drinking and driving is disproportionate and at odds with facts.
The law of unintended consequences often strikes. All the answers exist but nothing will be done, as usual.
An easy example is the protection of the taxi lobby – allowing them to maintain price gouging, and to double down by preventing low cost ride share/taxi alts like Uber etc without question attributes to the accidents that involve tiredness and alcohol and drugs.
the ongoing less than punitative (if enforced at all) penalties regarding speeding, car insurance (lack thereof), drink driving, etc – again, all can be linked directly or indirectly to huge amounts of accidents on our roads
and on, and on.
Good points, but car insurance is taken seriously. Caught without it and you can be arrested, and you’ll also lose your license. The real issue is dealing with those who repeatedly drive while suspended.
Deport him…..oh, wait a minute
Was there any official enquiry into another death on South Sound road, Margaret Garcia’s some time back. It seemed mysterious, one car? Two car? Then it went totally quiet with no public announcement of what happened apparently.
Obviously something to cover up 7:43.
its none of your business really!
Not true. Road safety is a matter of public interest. Why do you think we have police investigations and coroners courts? What a very silly comment 1:49.
For safer roads, deport any driver that is driving A) UNLICENSED vehicle. B) UNINSURED vehicle. C) without a driver’s license and seize all personal belongings just as should be done to drug dealers.
Deportation doesn’t help with the biggest population of offenders.
So we should continue allowing imported offenders to run free and wild then I guess?
Perhaps not but it would be a great start.
10.55pm You are obviously one of those people that can’t tell the difference between a Caymanian and a Jamaican. Try to learn.
Sentencing hasn’t occurred but based on precedent it’ll be grossly inadequate and disgraceful like 3 years in prison. What a tragic loss. The sentencing should be severe not only as individual punishment but act as a deterrent for future reckless drivers. 1am driving… alcohol involved? It was a Sunday night. Was she at brunch? Premeditated plan to drive home afterwards? Maybe or maybe not but these factors should weigh on the sentencing by the soft judges.
With the millions in budget surplus the Cayman Government can have police to more checkpoints alcohol tests or perhaps a dozen speed bumps in South Sound is needed
You can’t have speed bumps on a major road, we covered this (Police, Fire response & Rescue/Ambulances..)
Remember?
You obviously havent travelled often.
Speed deterrents on 2 lane RESIDENTIAL roads with a low speed limit of 30 MPH are common all over the first world, especially in America.
South Sound Road is not a major road. It is a residential community road and emergency forces will adapt to the slowdowns.
Bullshit.
Cayman Islands could have the worst drivers on the planet especially with such basic roads and slow speeds. Government should overhaul the entire process and development of teaching and testing newly licensed drivers. Also police issuing couple hundred dollars fines for “texting and driving” and the elephant in the room Drinking and Driving (where is Uber and Lift?). It doesn’t take a lot behooving to save these road fatalities. Sad!
The sad part of it is just too many speeders with low IQs. typically it’s a Honda.
And moms in suvs. Speeding, folllwing too closely, and overtaking like the Fit brigade.
Taking their cues from the drunk contractors in their big trucks.
And the drunk politicians taking out light poles and or passing out with some random female in the car.
How much behooving does it take then?
