West Bay store robbed at knifepoint
(CNS): A local convenience store at the four-way stop on Town Hall Road, West Bay, was robbed Thursday night by a man armed with a knife. The lone robber entered the store at about 10pm and demanded cash and goods from the clerk. He made off with an undisclosed sum of cash and several boxes of cigarettes.
No one was hurt during the ordeal, and in the CCTV footage from the store, the robber is heard taking the time to thank the clerk as he left.
This is now one of a number of robberies this year under investigation by police, but no arrests have been made yet. In this case, the detectives from the West Bay Criminal Investigations Unit are encouraging anyone with information to call the station at 949-3999.
Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or the website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to caymancrimestoppers.com.

I randomly read your news today in the hope of seeing something that may inspire me to return after a long absense. No way- your locals are out of control and at 71 years old, its no place for me. Damn shame- feral residents have a paradise to live in and manage to ruin it, like everywhere else. This used to be a nice place. It’s your loss.
I read the US news and do not want to visit the US either.
Damn these UK/American/Canadian/Everyone but Caymanian expats robbing the place….oh wait a minute…
Yes it was us. All I know he isn’t a West Bayer with that accent lol
A handfull of pocket change from one store owner isnt aa bad as millions from mutiple hardworking people falling victim to whitecollar crimes. Happy to provide UK/Amercian/Canadian examples if nee
First of all, those criminals don’t threaten your life and aren’t one nervous twitch on a trigger away from killing III. Secondly… Just make sure you include the dozens and dozens of locals who have stolen from their employers and private citizens. Those you mention before almost exclusively steal from their employers. Those stealing from individuals through “white collar” crimes like taking rental money for properties they don’t own, selling PR or status, etc are not expats.
A handfull of pocket change
A handfull of pocket change from 1 store owner isnt as bad a millions from multiple honest victims of whitecollar crimes. Happy to provide UK/American/Canadian examples if needed.
The Cayman Islands are in very real trouble culturally. The generation that this Caymanian is from is rife with uneducated, unmotivated, reckless and unemployable men and women as tremendous wealth from other lands consumes their homeland as they feel left behind.
This is dangerous. Even worse, the generation following them is potentially more troubled.
Firecrackers in Burger King.
Bullying and violence in John Gray High School.
The breakdown of the family units is largely responsible. Older and wiser Caymanians know this and the legacy they leave behind is not what they want, and the education system is also to blame.
The entitlement mindset is stronger than ever.
Caymanians are stuck in a cycle of blaming those who do the jobs they feel are beneath them, and those who do the jobs that they are neither qualified or experienced for.
I do agree that “breakdown of the family unit is largely responsible”.
The real tragedy here is that in the New Cayman Islands, a robber/thief exhibits better manners than most working in customer facing roles nowadays…
I see you’ve been to Cost U Less and Blackbeards
Don’t forget Tortuga!
Since we name dropping, The Cayman Islands Civil Service Cooperative credit union reception staff! Abysmal…
My family shops at Kirk Market more than the others and one of the primary reasons is the good customer service. The other retailers could learn from Kirk Market.
Not to compliment him in any way, but, after robbing them at knife point, he did wish them a good night.
#Caymankind
That mask looks familiar.
So you get 2 plus years for armed robbey and you make off with $300. The till wasn’t that full. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Good on the girl at the till, just stood back and got through it. Glad no one was hurt.
but now he got 2 years of free rent, meals, and utilities while we out here still struggling
cYman needs to ship the majority of Jamaicans home and the immigration need to stop the marriages for money by these lazy ass caymanians
Racist mfer
What would you do without Jamaicans? This is obviously one of your own home grown’finest’ and you still chat crap. The audacity though.
Why, they would blame Filipinos, Indians, Candians, Americans, etc, etc.
Caymanians do no wrong.
Home grown Caymanians are delusional. Jamaicans and their descendants own more property and spend more in this economy.
For starters, not a damn thing. The work ethic of the Jamaicans is very good and valued by employers.
The valuable work that Jamaicans do is difficult, dirty and hot and requires showing up to work.
Employers hire Jamaicans not because they are cheap.
“taking the time to thank the clerk as he left.”
Caymanian.
Caymankind! The façade of being all smiling and polite whilst they’re robbing you blind. 😂
Highly accurate.
Cayman scum strikes again. Waste of space
Thank you come again
