Two men robbed at known GT gambling spot
(CNS): Two men were robbed of bags containing cash, bank cards and personal items around 6:30pm on Thursday evening as they sat outside what is believed to be an illegal gambling spot on Kennedy Drive in George Town. Police said that this is the scene of two previous robberies that they believe are linked to gambling. The victims, who were said to be visiting the spot, were approached by a masked man carrying a machete who demanded cash.
No one was injured during the incident but the robber made off with their belongings. He is described as being about 5’10”, of light complexion, wearing a black shirt over his face, a multi-coloured shirt, dark shorts and dark sneakers.

The “gambling spots” are paying protection money to someone it’s quite obvious
When you sit outside a known gambling den with a sack of cash, you expect to get at least the police protection that goes with the place.
No big deal as they were probably a few “old men” just trying to supplement their meager pension payments. Or maybe it is Robin Hood getting the money to give to the poor. What you say about that Sir Alden!
If it is a known illegal gambling spot, why has it not been closed down and the people who run it charged?
These places fuel crime and are a magnet for criminals.

Q. Can the CoP kindly explain publicly how “known GT gambling spots” are still in operation after his own recent admissions? It’s like the police are using their own uselessness to buttress whatever criminality transpires, and try to adjust our expectations down even further to as close to zero police follow-up as they can get away with. The CI public are paying hundreds of millions for this?!?

What does “light/dark complexion” even mean? Our police still haven’t received basic training in how to take an accurate witness report. Quite startling given their heavy reliance on eyewitness testimony to form cases, and seek convictions. Even when police show up, they aren’t trained to do their full time job.
It seems a bit harsh to charge the victim, but technically they were taking a ‘gamble’ just by going there.
