(CNS): A Cayman Airways (CAL) flight bound for Miami this morning turned around and came back to Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) some 15 minutes after take-off because of a sick passenger. CAL released a statement Wednesday confirming that there was no emergency landing and nothing was wrong with the aircraft but a passenger aboard repatriation flight KX3102 was experiencing a medical emergency. The captain returned the aircraft safely to Grand Cayman to ensure that the passenger received the necessary medical attention as quickly as possible.

CAL said that an ambulance met the aircraft to take the passenger to the hospital. After the passenger’s baggage was located and removed from the plane, the flight departed again around noon on its journey to Miami after all public health protocols were adhered to.

I’m surprised that after the turn around that all didn’t have to get off and quarantine.

    Best pilots/airline on the planet!

      calm down.

    • Anonymous says:

Why, because they turned around and came back?

    • Anonymous says:

Yes. All we need now is a Pilot’s Association and a monthly pilots allowance.

    • Say it like it is. says:

3.43pm World class?. except it needs a bottomless trough of taxpayer money to keep it flying a luxury very few airlines enjoy.

3:43 Yes, and it’s a gigantic recipient of welfare/ government subsidies. I literally lose it laughing when I read that CAL has received a high rank in the industry. It’s not exactly fair when you can spend like a drunk sailor knowing the CIG has you covered.. while your competitors are publicly traded companies that have to manage costs to barely squeeze a profit. Don’t forget that your wonderful CAL averages a 5M dollar annual loss before receiving a 7M dollar cash infusions that leaves the fake surplus funded by the Cayman people. Fake economics?

ya’ll need to get over the subsidy argument. All airlines receive subsidies, even the major US airlines.

9:32 – They do not receive outright cash infusions that basically convert major deficits to surpluses, as CAL does. They may receive tax breaks or incentives, but they will still go bankrupt when poorly managed. Airlines in the USA actually go bankrupt. There is no comparison to the outright welfare that CAL receives.

Not sure you understand what you’re reading there…

9:32, you are grossly misinformed if you think all airlines receive subsidies!

Yes, because of the pandemic there was some assistance given last year but that was primarily used to keep employees on the payroll. Extremely extenuating circumstances.

Only Cayman Airways is free to squander endless cash because they know Government will bail them out. This is every damn year. Not due to extenuating circumstances like a pandemic. They need to be forced to operate within a budget.

Praying that the person makes a full and speedy recovery. Thanks CAL!
