CAL adds more flights and BA confirms for July
(CNS) UPDATED: Cayman Airways has now released its repatriation flight schedule for July, which includes additional Sunday flights to Jamaica and Miami. The schedule has been confirmed in partnership with the government, as the borders remaining closed and no commercial airlines are operating officially outside the agreed essential flights. British Airways has also confirmed two additional flights in July, which were recently requested by the tourism ministry.
The CAL flights for July remain confined to and from Miami, Kingston and La Ceiba. But CAL said that as a result of increased demand additional flights have been added to the existing Friday flight between Grand Cayman and Kingston, with flights now operating on Sundays and Thursdays. The Miami repatriation flight schedule now includes eleven return flights in July. The weekly Thursday flight to La Ceiba, Honduras also continues.
The first additional British Airways flight departs London Heathrow on 7 July, returning 8 July, and the second on 18 August, returning 19 August.
Travellers are advised to follow official Government channels for the latest travel information and approved flights. The Government site and the Travel Cayman portal are regularly updated with the latest travel information, including confirmed British Airways flight dates, once approved. Travellers who make reservations for unconfirmed flights (ghost flights) do so at their own risk.
Details of the confirmed British Airways repatriation schedule can be found here.

Bahamas, TCI and many others have removed quarantine for all vaccinated travelers. By not making a decision the Cayman Islands is making a decision. What is the point of the vaccine if we don’t have any benefit for travel from it (except of course the protection which is number one). Time to fully open for vaccinated travelers as the risks are not zero but so low.

6:01 pm, G0 to Bahamas or TCi if you think there is so great. Go and spend a year or so there, i an sure you be very glad to get back to Cayman.
CAL and the Cayman government are ripping there own people off! Why are tickets almost $800 for round trip to Miami!!!! Open up the XXXX airports and resume regular flights!!!
cal and cig have been ripping off passengers for generations…
I really hope they reduce the quarantine to 5 days for vaccinated persons and add flights to Tampa especially for students who need to return for school. It’s a huge hassle going through Miami. Government needs to start thinking about the students that need to return for school. Keeping us locked away is pointless we have to face the virus one day everyone else in the world
Is doing. Wayne pls put your foot down we sick of Dr Lee ideology of keeping us locked away.
Open the border!
August Miami return tickets on cayman airways website now as high as 900 dollars return. Outrageous. And stop giving free quarantine to caymanians… they are all using these flights for shopping trips then freeloading the quarantine. One policy for caymanians and residents please.
Policy should be that EVERYONE pays unless travel was verified as necessary medical or return home at end of term for students.
Cayman Airways staff members fly 3-4 times a week without having to quarantine. Why???? Shame on the premier and Dr Lee!!!! This needs to stop!!!! Enough is enough.
When are we going to get some financial statements so we know what their record deficit is?.
So how the f*** do you expect these flights to happen if the Cayman airways staff cannot work on all of them.
They NEVER leave the plane when they land in Miami.
So here’s the deal: If the quarantine is reduced to 5 days there is no chance that CIG will allow other airlines to fly in. Let’s say vaccinated people are allowed to arrive beginning in July with a 5-day quarantine. Most of the Cayman Airways flights are already booked; therefore, no access to arriving flights. CIG looks good because they dropped the quarantine to 5 days but in reality, they have prevented any additional people from arriving. We are still doing the same exact thing we’ve been doing except it is easier for locals already booked on those flights to visit the US and return with a less restrictive quarantine (good thing.) Likely the same situation will exist for flights in August.
For months Cayman Airways has had the monopoly and CIG will drag their feet on lifting the commercial airline restrictions for as long as possible. Consider this, should CIG allow American, Delta, JetBlue, etc. to resume service none of these carriers will immediately schedule flights. They will need a chance to figure out demand before committing to return to GCM.
In my opinion, even if quarantine is reduced, and additional airlines are allowed to return, nothing much will change for a few months. I believe this is exactly what CIG wants: By dropping quarantine they look like they are making progress toward reopening the border. By continuing to only allow Cayman Airways and BA to fly in/out they are effectively keeping things basically the same. Once people return from the US or UK and test positive for one of the dreaded new variants of the virus CIG will flip out and put the breaks on everything and we will end up like Australia and remain closed to tourism until mid-2022. I know this will make some of the “keep the border closed” advocates angry, but remaining closed indefinitely is not the right path for Cayman. We need a path to reopening before the end of 2021.
You nailed it! Pretending to make progress while logistics prevent actual progress. What a sad state of affairs!
Keep the borders closed until the countries that C A L flies have Covid 19 under control
IDIOT
Or stop them flying there?
1:02, with that mentality CAL should be grounded.
But if you have to travel to UK this summer, only a US passport allows us back into Miami?? and with the US Consulate CLOSED for a month, there will be a lot of stranded Caymanians without US passports- what are we doing about this???
Nope. You can get back into the US. Just not from the UK, Schengen , Brazil and South Africa. Nothing to stop you going to the UK , flying from there ( no limitations on outbound flights) to somewhere like Turkey, then back to Cayman via thebUS – if you have an ESTA or a B1/B2. It would be an expensive ticket but doable.
Wrong. Admission to USA is dependent on your USA citizenship or certain types of USA visa. Going via turkey would make no difference. All travel needs should use BA direct from UK to cayman, and avoid USA if not based there.
Listen idiot, Caymanians cannot (and aren’t interested in) applying for a US passport and you DEFINITELY do not need a US passport to get into Miami.
Go find your brain, it’s missing!
Oh, please.
Stop calling it “repatriation flights” when it is not.
CAL is flying commercially.
“Need shopping ?
Need some weeks off ?
Here is our repatriation flight’s schedule!”
Get rid of quarantine for those vaccinated!
No because both parties cannot even wipe their a$$es properly, much less stop spreading covid. No one cares if the UK has us on amber, they can barely get their sh*t together.
Charge Caymanians for hotel quarantines. Too many using it after shopping trips.
Exactly! Drop the farce and fly commercially!
5:52 pm. Your are right. Cayman would have to have more people than China to be repatriation so much people.
Government warns of ghost flights.
What a joke Cayman Airways is selling two daily flights from MIA from August 1st.
Oh, for “essential travel” you mean? Surely.
Open the damn borders Wayne.
Any cuban flights planned?
No gracias. We don’t want to Castrona Virus
I got a inner tube I can lend you.
Feeling a bit itchy? CAL has weekly flights to La Ceiba.
Why are we flying there weekly anyways???
More Miami flights would be better imo.
It is time to add daily flights to Miami as well as opening real flights for August and beyond.
Flights are currently sold out for weeks in advance and ghost flights for August and beyond, there is not even a notice that these ghost flights are not confirmed.
Not enough bracelets or travel time staff for that – can’t add flights and have 10-14 day quarantine. And no balls to reduce quarantine even to 5 days – even tho the UK let’s you put after 5 days vexed or invaded with a 4 day PCR.
You are aware that the UK have had several lockdowns, thousands of deaths and have a new strain to contend with all because of slack and late to react government policies. That’s what we are trying to avoid here. The UK is not doing great, let’s not follow them this time pls.
Get that. Now answer me this. We have no community Covid. The chances of an inbound traveller who is unvaccinated bringing in Covid after having to pass an exit PCR after 14 days are zero. The chances of a vaccinated traveller having Covid at all are at per the CDC 1 in 10,000, and having passed a pre flight PCR test must be even lower. And the chances of a vaccinated person contracting Covid and transmitting it are way less. How do you begin to compare that with the problems faced by the UK in a) who CJ already had Covid in the community b) allows people in unvaccinated and out after 5 days they get a clear test. Really?
Huh, you talking about the UK? Hell I just spent a lovely week in london, taking in the warm weather, dining in, shopping and overall enjoying the friendly vibes. We are doing very well contrary to the scary news articles.Everywhere scary, only Cayman is safe, thats the grunts i hear from the island. Good luck living with island fever.
No island fever for me…loving the lack of traffic and annoying tourist tbh.
Lack of traffic, you are an idiot
Must live near SMB coz the daily commute from the East is worse than ever. Can’t blame tourist for that, but can worry about how much worse it will be when they start arriving again.
1:01, you’re right! Caymanians are being fed the story that everywhere else is locked down, that people can’t live freely and that Covid jumps on your body if you encounter a Covid-positive person. People are eating that story up when it couldn’t be further from the truth!
Most areas of the world are (and have been) able to live VERY normal lives!!!! A handful of places still have to wear masks but that’s a small price to pay to not be subject to government overreach and control.
We typically travel to Cayman annually to spend our vacation dollars, but went to Cozumel in March and going to Antigua in June.. cayman may be losing many long time visitors money!
So how the f*** do you expect these flights to happen if the Cayman airways staff cannot work on all of them.
They NEVER leave the plane when they land in Miami.
Let’s get American, Delta, Jet Blue flying starting July. Open the borders! No quarantine. Stop the madness.
United too!
And Pan Am!
Fly to Tampa once a week, less chance of getting the Virus there than Muami.
