May election holiday off the calendar
(CNS): Government officials released the redrawn list of public holidays this week, confirming 14 April as the Election Day holiday and removing the previous date of 26 May, dashing hopes that workers would get a bonus day off this year. Government Information Services said government had not published an order in relation to the May date, so it was never officially confirmed and therefore did not need to be cancelled.
But government has now published the Public Holidays Order, 2021 after it was approved by Cabinet, designating Wednesday, 14 April, as a public holiday to facilitate the 2021 General Election.

Thank goodness,
Already stress small businesses do not need anymore expenses.
civil service are outraged!
Ummmm, obviously….
Cayman it’s the only place in the world that has a public holiday for voting. Even expats that can’t vote gets the holiday. So if it was a voting holiday, those that can’t vote should not get it, oh but they would cry descrimation, so it’s not only a voting holiday, is it ?
No it’s not the only place. More like the US is the only place it isn’t.
Key criteria is if there is no stimulus cheques like every other country then there should be another pension fund withdrawal!
We already are getting a “bonus day”. Election Day on April 14th. Maybe one day we will have electronic voting and there will be no need for a holiday. The polls can stay open until 9/10pm and the counting would take 30 mins. Postal/mobile ballots in 25 mins. Constituency result 5 minutes later.
If we are going to progress then progress in all areas.
And end up with a “Biden” 😄
It’s good to get away from your keyboard, warrior.
