(CNS): For the first day in more than a week, all of the 270 tests for COVID-19 carried out over the last 24 hours were negative, Medical Officer of Health Dr Samuel Williams-Rodriguez reported Thursday. Cayman has seen 15 positive cases over the previous eight days of test results, as the surge in cases overseas has a knock-on effect on the local tally.

There are currently 15 active cases of the virus among people in isolation, two of which are now said to be symptomatic. No details have been given regarding the level of severity of the latest patient to show symptoms of the virus or the status of the individual who has now been sick for some time. At this point, neither patient has been hospitalized.

Currently there are 971 travellers in government quarantine or isolating at home.

Immigration should bring in more positive people. We don’t need no more negative people.

No new cases is much better news than Bermuda is getting these days. Bermuda stopped doing 14 day quarantine of incoming travelers and now they have community transmission, schools closed, hospital workers infected and lots of other problems.

We should be grateful that our politicians and their advisors have kept our 14 quarantine plus PCR testing. Hopefully they will also take the next logical step and require airport day of departure testing as well.

They have operated for 5 months without 14 day isolation. Schools are not closed!

Bermuda has 27 cases, Cayman has 24. Not much difference. Bermuda is open. Cayman is closed. Big difference.

What the hell are you talking about? As of today, Bermuda has 3 more cases than Cayman and unlike in Cayman small businesses are not dying every week. Bermuda us open and getting along economically while we in Cayman are economically sinking fast.

The exact same thing can be said of Barbados too. Barbados is open now and surviving economically.

It would be interesting to learn how long the 15 positive cases have been in isolation. The release of this information should not offend our National Secrets Act.
