Nightclubs waived from gathering limit
(CNS): Nightclubs and most commercial operations are exempt from the public meeting gathering limit of 50 people, according to the latest change to the COVID-19 suppression regulations. Concerns had been raised that nightclubs were hosting hundreds of people in contravention of the limit, but such establishments are bound only by the headcount limit under their liquor licence conditions and social distancing rules.
As is the case for shops, restaurants and bars, the owners and managers of all nightclubs should be ensuring that their patrons are all following the requirement for people to observe the six foot distancing, which appears to be proving very difficult.
At the 17 July COVID-19 briefing it was indicated that under the further softening of restrictions down to Level 2 Minimal Suppression, that were in place from 19 July until 31 August, late-night spots could reopen. All bars and restaurants could permit dancing again, too, although nightclubs were limited to 50 customers inside at a time.
However, it is understood that that information was inaccurate and the limit does not apply to any businesses, including nightclubs.
Complaints have been made, however, that social distancing, mask wearing and other protocols that still apply to all indoor establishments are not happening inside clubs.
This was an issue that Premier Alden McLaughlin had also noted when he revealed at the last update on the suppression levels that he was not sure how clubs would manage to keep people six feet apart while also allowing them to dance.

I hear that Rum Point is not open and will NOT be open. The rich home owners have made it clear that THEY do not want boats in front of their homes making noise and the main thing that they are saying is that now CAYMANIANS are not having Fun Sundays the TURTLES are now coming back. how many things CAYMANIAN do they want us to give up for them. Our fun sunday has nothing to do with the turtles. Gov kissing ass to rich white people again.

Stop your uninformed racists rants! The rich home owners have no authority below the high tide mark. The only people that can ban boats from there is your duly elected MLA’s via a gazetted law. Stop una fussing and petition your MLA’s to do their jobs and sort it out.
Why do you insist on making people miserable. There are plenty places that are not right next to someone’s house.
And there are plenty of places to build your home except right next to a popular beach bar. Why should the poor always have to adjust their behavior so the rich can enjoy themselves ?

The Governor and CoP Bryne, via the RCIPS, has the full authority to enter the club, supervise compliance with the amended Health Law Regulations in force, and call the Liquor officer to close the club and/or revoke liquor license. Will they do it?!?
How many tickets issued for exceeding capacity, failing to wear mask properly, or failing to social distance? Any?
Store employees, managers, and security have been thinking they are exempt from these legal regulations since this all began. How many sanctions have they been given? Any?
We are only lucky we didn’t have a bigger initial outbreak, but it’s not even close to being halfway over yet!

What did everyone expect? The Premier, as much as I stood behind him and suffered through this, as fallen right back into his old ways of “politricks” and making sure he appeases his financial support side necessary for his political win in the next election.

Just drop the 50 person max already. Bars and clubs are the most likely place for the virus to spread given people’s proximity to each other, recirculated indoor air, loud music that forces people to shout (which causes more droplets to be expelled) and not forgetting the drunken “I love you man” lean ins and bro hugs. If they are exempt, why shouldn’t all establishments?
There are different rules at night. No one is wearing masks at these clubs.
I have never observed any attempt at any regulatory compliance in any bar or nightclub. I’ve not been to them all. Those I’ve visited in the past week, I won’t be returning to. This is where the nexus of the virus return will be.

So churches and service clubs still cannot accommodate more than 50 persons whilst nightclubs will be able to do so. That makes no sense but comes as no surprise. Confusion continues to rain (?reign) upon us.
Churches can have more than 50. It depends on their sanctuary size. There are some too small to hold 50. Social distancing still applies.
Thank you for correcting me but where does that leave the service clubs who do so much for the island. Doing zoom meetings each week is not the answer.
