Car smashes into wall in Pease Bay
(CNS): A driver had a lucky escape Monday afternoon after the silver Honda Accord he was driving east on Bodden Town Road smashed into a wall. Police said the single-vehicle crash happened just before 4:00pm on 17 February in the Pease Bay area. Emergency services were called and he was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital where, despite the state of the car, he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and discharged. The RCIPS said the incident is now under investigation.

1. Proper public transport
2. More police enforcement
3. Cap importation of cars older than a certain year (10 years if we’re being generous)
4. Rigorous inspections
5. Proper education and road testing
Would cost less than the current projects that are clearly only being put forward to line a few people’s pockets, and have a much better impact on lifestyle in Cayman overall.
The solutions to our problems are too simple for us not to push forward.
“A driver had a lucky escape Monday afternoon after the silver Honda Accord he was driving east on Bodden Town Road smashed into a wall.”
It sounds as if the driver really was lucky, as the car apparently decided to do that all on its own. The driver did not drive the car into the wall, no. But the car he was driving just lost its mind and smashed into a wall.
I’m not sure how “lucky” the driver was, compared to all of the other drivers on the road who did not happen to have such luck, but managed to stay on the road instead.
How can one small island have so many crashes in a week..
poor driving standards of locals and west indians generally, poor police enforcement of basic road rules, drink driving by everybody.
and those coming from outside of the Caribbean, thank you very much. Lets be truthful and inclusive here. I’ve been nearly hit by those coming from all walks of life.
Bermuda is smaller and has more road accidents, more injuries and deaths.
But they mostly have 2 lane roads that twist and turn with no road shoulders and stone walls on both sides. And they have thousands of kamikaze scooters on its roads. They honk when approaching a blind bend to notify oncoming traffic they are coming.
Cayman roads are open and mostly cars. Accidents mapping and analysis is overdue.
A female driver was speeding heading West, lost control and a severely impact to our fence occurred around 4.15 pm. She was in bad shape.
There are so many fences bashed in that it is easy to be confused. This picture is right but not the story here.
What about the High rate of speed and another car
Pass that stretch of road daily and routinely get passed by cars going well above the posted max of 50mph.. corner? no difference…. car coming towards us? no difference ….. car exiting Midland Acres? no difference …. 9 cars ahead of me? no difference: in their minds, it’s a perfect opportunity to overtake as if the mission is simply to get ahead of me.. regardless of the consequences!
Stupid is as stupid does.
For the love of Country can we please introduce points system for insurance purposes. My gosh, reckless acts like the accident above should have consequences. Happy to learn no serious injuries occurred.
One word, Honda.
Drivers
Two words: Cell Phone.
Three words: TV in Car
Um. No.
These words….
Drinking and driving.
Stop the shit.
Driving is a privilege.
the only people who were lucky…were the other innocent road users who not involved.
I would have been the target minutes earlier, I was turning in my driveway!
Speeding like a demented idiot for a car to fold up like that. Another fool heading for an early grave! Thank God no other vehicle was involved or it would have been a different story. When will these boy racers ever learn.
When they’re six feet under
It was a girl.
Is there really any difference these days?
true it can be a minefield…esp when its dark
women drivers!…..zzzz
probably putting on make up at the time…
Alcohol
Yes the story is wrong here, it was my fence and I was there, my husband was first respondent and call 911. It was a girl, she was in bad shape. Stone wall debris were scattered 40′ away and took the chain linked fence behind the stone wall 20′ away….
In 1996 I watched a man die in his car after hitting the Moon Bay wall nearest the tennis court. He was being chased from East End by the police. 24 years later nothing has changed. This all boils down to the unfortunate fact that the school systems of Cayman have no mandatory drivers education programs. It’s good to know this “girl” didn’t kill innocent people.
It’s funny, if no gender is mentioned the reporters tend to just assume the person is male.
Sexism
Boy?
Mexico will pay to repair it!
