Another warning of climate chaos within 30 years

Cayman News Service(CNS): A new research paper published on World Environment Day warns of ‘outright chaos’ if mankind does not do something to reverse climate change. “Climate change now represents a near- to mid-term existential threat to human civilisation,” according to the authors of the paper, David Spratt, a climate scientist, and Ian Dunlop, a former fossil fuel executive. Published by the Breakthrough National Centre for Climate Restoration, the research suggests that climate scientists are too restrained in their predictions of how climate change will impact the planet in the near future.

“Much scientific knowledge produced for climate policy-making is conservative and reticent,” the authors wrote, warning that to reduce the risk of society collapsing over the next three decades and to sustain human civilisation, the world must build a zero-emissions industrial system very quickly.

“This requires the global mobilisation of resources on an emergency basis, akin to a wartime level of response,” the two men state in the document, which focuses on security issues that will result from climate change and contribute to escalating cycles of humanitarian and socio-political crises, conflict and forced migration.

“Climate-change impacts on food and water systems, declining crop yields and rising food prices driven by drought, wildfire and harvest failures have already become catalysts for social breakdown and conflict across the Middle East, the Maghreb and the Sahel, contributing to the European migration crisis,” the authors wrote.

“Understanding and foreseeing such events depends crucially on an appreciation of the real strengths and limitations of climate-science projections, and the application of risk-management frameworks which differ fundamentally from conventional practice.”

Adding to the mounting pile of evidence that the situation is actually worse than previous predictions have suggested, the dire warnings in this document and those coming from the entire credible scientific world are still not resonating with most powerful world governments or enough ordinary people to enforce change.

Other news marking World Environment Day on Wednesday, which is focused on air pollution, included findings that it kills around 7 million people each year, and that on this very day large parts of the Earth are in the grip of severe heat waves. There is also news that the unreliability of seasonal weather patterns is already causing chaos for farmers and rising temperatures are fuelling the spread of infectious disease.

Here in Cayman, the National Trust will be hold a public education meeting this evening about the National Conservation Law and the National Conservation Council at the Family Life Centre on Walkers Road. The Trust has a seat on the current review panel convened by government to water down the legislation and the NGO is urging people to come to the meeting so they can be better informed and express their wishes to government about this critical legislation.

Registration will open from 5.30pm with the educational session starting at 6pm.

“Climate-change impacts on food and water systems, declining crop yields and rising food prices …” the article says.

    Here some food for thoughts.

For the third year in a row in my home country non stop rain and uncharacteristic low temperatures have negative effect on local agriculture.
Yesterday in FL I asked for celery and was told about impact the rains in California have had on the planting of crops during the first quarter of the year. The coastal production areas from Oxnard to Watsonville have had steady rain with standing water being reported in some fields for 10 days or longer.

People on this rock should be prepared for the worst in the near future.

These news stories always bring out the armchair scientists who would believe it was raining when it wasn’t if one of their idiot websites posted it.

Ever notice that the end is coming in ten-fifteen-thirty years and you never hear another word about it? It’s just governments trying seize control over the people to to restrict and govern the world as they think it should be. Climate change is an excuse not a problem!

Because your feet are not wet today does not mean your grand children’s feet are not at risk of being submerged.

Well Einstein, it’s not like a Hollywood movie. It’s not gonna be lights out in 15 years to the date. The outlook for the world is way worse than it was 50 years ago. Report back how things look in say 25 years. And look around, not just at your privileged lot on Cayman, but at more distressed areas of the world where people that aren’t major contributors ( like say, Dart) but are bearing the brunt of failed crops and rising sea levels.

The entire universe is constantly changing and has been since the beginning of time. It will continue so to do. Remember your school classes about the Ice Age?

I don’t doubt that the earth is warming and we are contributing. We absolutely need to reduce global carbon emissions to minimize our impact.

Global population levels are a major concern and we must find more sustainable sources of food.

Even if it’s just rearranging the deck chairs, we gotta do what we can. And sending our garbage to poor countries is not ok.

We have these things called farms btw. We even farm trees! Wow what a concept!

And notice how the left are actually anti-farming? Or there is always some climate change clause attached to it?

The point is, no matter what you do, you are destroying the earth, so pay up to the morally superior leftists!

There have been five mass extinction events in Earth’s history. In the worst one, 250 million years ago, 96 percent of marine species and 70 percent of land species died off. It took millions of years to recover. Planet Earth is our life support system. Altering it, we head for extinction. And it could manifest in the least expected way as in the Children of Men movie.

Do you know you can fit the entire world’s population in the city of Los Angeles? Won’t be comfortable, but you can.

Still think the world has too many people?

      And, population growth naturally adjusts:

If then entire worlds population can fit in 506 square miles as compared to the 197 million square miles of the earth available, let’s say only 50% of that is habitable land leaving us with 98 million sq miles of habitable land, that would mean that the entire world population actually occupies .

0.0000000516 of the earth available habitable land masses.

So the dots in my argument could be joined by the brain dead.

    YET
the Cayman Islands is debating if they need a chicken farm and use their noses as an argument. They seem OK with the Dump’s stench and ground water and air poisoning though. How utterly stupid things are in the Cayman Islands.
This country is nine meals from anarchy. No one would be spared, unless you are an avid fisherman and don’t mind to eat plastic filled (though invisible) fish.

A noteworthy thing about cayman is that a big big ‘pollute the world for profit’ guy, is your biggest land holder and arguably responsible for the livelihood of the island.

The human experience does not have 30 years left. We are in the first seal of Revelation. Donald Trump is the rider on the White Horse.
Watch him subdue the earth with his strange brand of politics. The next rider will be on the Red Horse and peace will depart as the result of a great war (China & Russia vs USA. Surprise attack initiated in Taiwan). Famine and want will follow followed by death and disease. At this point, the earth will accept Barack Obama as the saviour.
Atheists will be converted to believers as they worship the Beast.
    30 years?…..Keep dreaming.

Climate-Hysterics right on cue once again.

Ok, first it years 10 years back in 2006 gore send the earth would end, then it was 12 years to “Save the Planet” in 2008, now with have the hysterical “Extinction Rebellion” that we will go extinct in 12 years, AOC claims 12 years to the end of civilization.

Now another group of hysterical clowns are claiming 30 years.

Thankfully, many people are not drinking the cult kool-aid anymore and are realizing that there is A LOT of money to be made by defrauding the tax payers for this pile of bullshit.

    Wake up people:

100’s of billions of dollars in climate research money:
    https://www.gao.gov/key_issues/climate_change_funding_management/issue_summary

    https://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/tax-policy/tax-analysis/Documents/WP-115.pdf

    Quote:

To examine the effects of a sample carbon tax, OTA estimated the 10-year revenue effects of a carbon tax that started at $49 per metric ton of carbon dioxide equivalent (mt CO2-e) in 2019 and increased to $70 in 2028. We estimate that such a tax would generate net revenues of $194 billion in the first year of the tax and $2,221 billion over the 10-year window from 2019 through 2028.

This revenue could finance significant reductions in other taxes. In 2019, this carbon tax revenue would represent approximately 50 percent of projected corporate income tax payments or 20 percent of the OASDI portion of the payroll tax. If the revenue were rebated to individuals it would amount to $583 per person in the U.S. The last section of the paper uses Treasury’s Distribution Model to provide distributional analysis of this sample tax and four possible tax swaps. Distributional analysis is particularly valuable in this context for guiding the choice of the tax swap to address possible equity considerations
