Woman trapped after crashing car into light pole
(CNS): A woman who crashed a blue Kia Rio into a light pole in Prospect on Sunday night was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be rescued from the car by the Cayman Islands Fire Service. The collision, which caused significant damage to the front of the Kia, broke the pole half and caused a power outage in the area. After the woman was freed from the car she was taken to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Services, where she is still receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Cayman Utilities Company (CUC) was contacted by police after the crash so they could begin work to restore power, though it is understood the power was out in and around the area of the crash until the early hours of Monday morning.
Police said that the crash is now under investigation.

There is nothing wrong with poles as poles don’t use mobile phone when human are thicko for using mobile phone while driving. TURN THE F#$KING PHONE OFF!
CUC needs to do a better job of nailing these poles down, they are jumping all over the place and trying to hit cars and trucks whenever they cross. Its worse when some of the poles leave the bar
Top tip: I don’t drive like a moron, therefore I don’t drive into stationary items like electricity poles. Follow my advice and you too can avoid driving into things that don’t move.
“In and around the area” – does this include South Church St which was without power for 3 hours, and if not what was the cause?.
Better than crashing in to a heavy pole!
Vehicles seem to be drawn to major power poles…. Out of ALL the poles you could hit, come on people!!!!!
It’s those bloody autonomous poles, they keep moving all over the place! Hard to avoid them. 🙁
People…….Pllllease! Stop crashing into the darn CUC poles! That must be the 3rd one this month!
If you need to hit anything, go for a small sign post, a hedge or a bush.
If it has to be a power pole, maybe hit it during normal waking hours.
Thanks very little…
I hope that the driver or their insurance is who is paying for the CUC work when these incidents happen. CNS that would be good questioning to pursue. Otherwise it is all of us electricity users paying for the stupidity of a few.
What the hell is going on in this place?
We have aggressive power poles… Crazy isn’t it!
