The 2025 Election and Referendum in ten charts
(CNS): The number of votes that each of the winning candidates received tells one story, but the political strength of an MP is shown more clearly by the proportion of votes he or she got. A candidate who was elected with less than 50% of the votes could be vulnerable in future elections. We’ve made a chart for the turnout in each constituency and looked to see if there is any correlation to the likelihood or otherwise of an incumbent winning — there doesn’t appear to be.
We’ve also looked at the strength of incumbents, the continuing gender disparity in parliament, and the emphatic answer to the port question in the referendum.

Congradulations for the strong win Premier Andre Ebanks and for forming the coalition government. I have much more hope for this government to achieve great things for Cayman.
I’m just happy McDweeber didn’t get back in. Let new blood in. Can’t be any worse.
200 votes each? Brac and LC should not have 2 mp’s! That’s ridiculous.
The data seems to suggest that Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are significantly over represented based on the number of voters.
Why no figures for losing candidates?
It is 2025, there is no cruise port, and yet the cruise ships keep coming.
Would be interested to know where the local jobs come in if such a cruise port was built.
Lets see -clerks in shoppes, staff in bars/restaurants? Hmnn, mostly work permits.
Construction crews? Again, mostly work permits.
I am trying to figure out just where the “local” jobs come in.
Someone out there in the CNS readership world please enlighten me about these jobs. Thanks
Ask Monique Hamaty. She’s one of the primary goons pushing for the cruise port. While we’re at it, we should ask her how many generational Caymanians she employs currently.
(I understand I’m preaching to the choir here, and I truly appreciate the people that make posts like you do.)
They employ most of Phillipinas ever seen.
Thanks for God, RedBay had danger runnning!
West bayers happy that red bay was smart enough to dodge PhillipE
Sometimes the most remarkable insights are the numbers that the charts don’t show.
There are over 5000 registered voters that didn’t bother to show up, spread out over districts with margins in the triple and double digits.
Which is common internationally, in a uk general election voter turnout is usually around 60% maximum. That’s tens of millions of people who don’t vote.
When Cayman becomes a default welfare state, we all will suffer with the naysayers! Mark my words!
Mark whose words? You wouldn’t even put your name to your ridiculous doomsaying. Cayman will be perfectly fine, and markedly better-off than if we were to destroy the rest of what people actually come here for by building a port. If PPM had gotten in, they would have strong-armed the port through. Why else would SpendyB have aligned with them? They all take that FCCA b̀¶r̀¶ì¶b̀¶è¶ — *ahem* sorry — “lobby” money.
What was the total# of persons who voted?
CNS: Good idea. I’ll add this over the weekend.
I think it was 18000+
Please also add the total % of vote for the new Govt. Vs the opposition.
Thank you CNS for the charts, makes it easier to see and understand.
You’re right in that there would be many jobs, but none of them for Caymanians. The port would be under full control of the cruise lines, and they don’t hire local, as has been proven time and time again. See one of the more recent examples: https://www.facebook.com/REALTBT242/videos/1196045018579681
I look forward to hearing how this group will deliver on their promises about Immigration, Development, Cost of Living, and the DUMP. You all promised you would hit the ground running and had a plan (5 manifestos I believe)
Looking forward to keeping my MP accountable for their many promises.
Congratulations to Andre Ebanks, our new Prime Minister for winning the popular vote of all the Cayman Island Candidates.
Congratulations to the TCCP party in being Ambassador’s for the National Conservation Law that oversee the sustainable environmental development in the Cayman Islands.
@ Jay Easterbrook – *Premier* not Prime Minister
I hope the independents understands that where a PPM ran against them it’s clear their constituents did not wanted a PPM representing them. So joining the PPM to make the government would be a slap and an insult to the people in their respective districts.
One love!
The problem is that too many people ran in districts like EE. Had it been a 2 person race the result would have been different.
CNS: Isaac Rankine got almost 53% of the vote, indicating that he would have won in a head-to-head against any of the candidates who ran. See here.
the no port makes me so happy! the greedy people didn’t win for once!
It’s not as cut and dry as “greedy people”. There would be many jobs for young people and people in the lower to mid income bracket. In the long run, the port will be built although town would not be the ideal location. At some point job creation will win out.
it actually is as cut and dry as “greedy people” lmao you lot wanted to build a port that lead people (who arent spending money btw!!) to 20 diamond stores and a lackluster excuse for a town. no culture and nothing for people to do except get bussed to bonny moon and turtle farm excursions that are double the cost lol
get real.
all environment issued aside, which also happens to be the most important factor… Fix town properly and have good and sustainable offerings on island for people that stay here for a max of 8hours and then MAYBE talk to us about a damn port other wise you just talking greedy SH*T. simple.
clap clap clap clap clap
Agreed. Stayover tourism is much better for the islands economy. Removing cruise ships also adds to exclusivity of the island. Hopefully this govt will encourage and support development of that sector. Improved airport facilities are required – increased runway, improved terminal and investment in FOB facilities. This along with improved road network will encourage further hotel stock, bringing more airlift and those that are a bit more likely to splash the cash.
The stayovers won’t appreciate having to sunbathe on the ironshore. Our new Govt needs to put beach replenishment at or near the top of their to do list.
Nah, that should be solely on the property owners who were told time and time again by Caymanians not to do it (whom in hindsight are apparently far more intelligent than them despite possibly being less educated). Then money talked and of course they got their way despite all the warnings from those of us who knew better.
“Ya ears can’t hear, but ya ass gon’ feel”
Just ask Marriott.
Jason – what ever young people you are talking about, they would not have been born on this island. They would have been imports who would have been paid an inadequate wage, who would have lived pay cheque to pay cheque and who would not known anything about these islands.
Those who were being “smart arsed” about the whole thing, thought by wording the referendum question so broadly, they would have nudged it further to “their” version of a successful/desired outcome….now that has just completely backfired on them.
The people have spoken and decisively so – no, “ifs ands or buts…per the referendum question and the answer given by the people, there was no sunset clause in the verbiage. NO, repeat NO, cruise berthing development, in any way, shape or form, now, or in the future. EVER.
Thanks Kenny B. for delivering this result. Even a broken clock can be right 2 times a day, in spite of itself.
