West Bay Public Beach

(CNS): A Royal Cayman Islands Police Service investigation has been opened into a violent assault Wednesday evening by four men at the West Bay Public Beach. Police said that they received a report that a man had been at the beach at about 6:30pm on 2 May when he was approached by four men, who threatened and then attacked him. The man fell to the ground and was hit with sticks and a rock before his attackers fled the scene. He was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital, where he is being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries, including a broken arm.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any relevant information to contact the West Bay Police Station at 649-3999. Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS) or online here.

“Gangs” these guys would get bullets in the head if they tried this stuff around real gang members. They are a bunch of pansies whose mothers need need locked up too.

Is this the same four who beat and robbed a man in George Town and did the same type of attack in Tropical Gardens earlier this year.

I believe this had nothing to do with going to the beach. This has to be one of the most outrageous police reports ever. At least provide some details of this fight, don’t leave the public with impression that gangs are just waiting to attack people at the beach 6:30 p.m, in the evenings.

Another non-discript amateur-hour RCIPS report. What was the motive, detectives? Did they take his bike/wallet/jewelry/phone/swimtrunks/flipflops? Or was this just a random (or not random) attack? Where at West Bay Public Beach exactly? What was the verbal exchange that preceded the pounding? Was it a hate crime? Is there no webcam/CCTV at WB Public beach, Alfresco, or the docks?

I am sure the much vaunted island wide CCTV system caught the whole thing on tape.

True. They know exactly who to trouble whether it’s one-on-one or not. I’m waiting and watching. Come to me dudes?

Why is it that there is no presence of the RCIPS at PUBLIC beaches? Do we really need to tell them what to do? First there was no traffic department, but after the public complained they reinstated the department. Now all they do is give out speeding tickets while the multitude of other traffic law infringements go without enforcement. Not saying that giving out speeding tickets is bad, but you need to enforce the law across the board. If you ask me the RCIPS seems to be more focused on bringing in revenue with tickets than actually trying to police the community, while building relationships and make a safer and more desirable island for it’s inhabitants.

And how many cops do you think are actually on duty at any time? Enough to cover all the beaches and all the roads?

Needs laws like Singpore, where they beat criminals, but the politiicans won’t make against them, every new law made is for them, Can’t beat them, Can’t give them hard labour and can’t lock them up for life etc, etc, etc.

Stop allowing black out windows…its against the law
Stop people driving on their mobile phones…its against the law
Stop people driving with unrestrained children in cars…its against the law
Drink driving is against the law…over known busy spots for night time drinking

Yes they need to be told what to do cos they sure do not have incentive or initiative to enforce the law.

Yeah yeah, and I suppose you think they should put an end to fronting, prosecute people who steal employee pension monies, arrest the people who stole gas in the gas boy fiasco, take steps to stop all corruption…

You must think that just because it is a crime, it is lllegal or something.

You are not from these parts, are you?

I’m certain you are the one and same that want the clubs to open until 4 in the mornings, agree to the sale of booze on Sundays, want prayers out of school, stop parents from scolding their children with a belt, wanted the strips club to open, divorce with single baby mamas/papas and also wish for gambling to be legal. These are the things that encourages the gangs, the crimes and criminal activities. Tint, cell phones, children in cars without a seat belt and drunk driving does not create the types of crime that cayman is now seeing. Get a grip to understand the real problems facing this country!

Some are home town criminals, but their are numerous other undesirables. No need to specify. If the Cops had a sixth sense ( good old common sense) they would earn their salary.

Please log onto the judicial website and view past traffic lists. I’m no fan of the police but with the exception of mobile phones, what you have said is untrue. The traffic list is constantly full with all sorts of traffic offences.

        Parking on sidewalks – illegal
Parking on double yellow lines – illegal
        Missing license plates – illegal

And yet, just this morning I have seen 6 separate police vehicles drive by and ignore an area where all of this going on right in front of their faces.

If the police won’t do anything about illegality taking place so openly then what hope of ever getting crime under control?

11:09am those infringements are common place from whence they came. So, do you think that they matter to them here?

I’ve seen the cops drive behind unlicensed trailers and pickup trucks with people in the back and do nothing, they really don’t care. Also don’t know how to work their indicators, but then very few people here do. Rass!

I’m sure they are all angels in their mothers eyes who never did anything wrong and it’s a system that holds them down that made them do it. It’s this crap that needs to stop among many other things. When did walking on the beach become so dangerous?? Hopefully it wasn’t a tourist, we don’t need this type of negative publicity.

Or if they ever had to apply for Cayman residency/status aside from a familial ancestral relationship, then deport them because there’s enough local idiots around. Cayman really doesn’t need to allow the imported ones to stay.

I’m Guernsey for instance, a drink driving traffic offense is enough for a work permit to be cancelled, fired from a job and banned from providing director services again in that jurisdiction.

Why should a distant Caymanian familial relationship provide such scum a right to come and live here if they are not Caymanian themselves?
