Webb’s home in Atlanta, Georgia

(CNS): A New York judge has granted permission for Cayman’s Jeffrey Webb to move his house arrest to his home in Atlanta, Georgia. The former FIFA vice president and CONCACAF president had applied for a change in his $10 million bail conditions so he could live at his house in Loganville, as he said he could not afford to live in the area close to the Brooklyn courthouse in New York where the FIFA corruption case, in which he has been indicted, is being heard.

Webb (50) is accused of taking millions of dollars in bribes regarding marketing and broadcasting rights for CONCACAF tournaments. Having agreed to extradition from Switzerland, where he was arrested and jailed in May, Webb was bailed when he arrived in New York after stumping up some $10 million in luxury goods, including high-end cars, Rolex watches and his wife’s diamonds.

With his assets frozen and no job, Webb was finding the cost of living and covering the cost of security for his house arrest increasingly difficult and asked to move to Georgia and to the home where, according to the indictment against him, some of the cash he is alleged to have gained via the alleged bribery was supposedly spent on a swimming pool.

In a letter to the court last month, Webb’s attorneys stated, “This financial burden is worsened by the fact that nearly the entirety of Mr and Mrs Webb’s cash savings is maintained in bank accounts that are encumbered as a result of the indictment and forfeiture allegations in this case.”

The judge hearing the case, Raymond Dearie, ruled that Webb could live in George as long as he made it to court in New York when required and he remained on home detention with an electronic tag and 24-hour security.

Webb is next due in court on 9 October. Next Monday US Attorney General Loretta Lynch and her Swiss counterpart, Michael Lauber, will be holding a press conference in Zürich to update the media on the ongoing FIFA probes.

To all of those Webb supporters still out there, ask yourselves how Jeffrey possibly paid for this house and assembled the $10m in Rolexes and Diamonds on deposit for his bail on his official income, then look at the state of Cayman soccer and the long awaited pitch at CIFA. Then look me in the eye and tell me that the man is clean.

It is said the Cayman Islands is built on Christian heritage, but All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. When last have you taken the time to read your bible? and since your are so critical of Jeffery’s fault s when are you going to stop doing what you are doing and come clean. It is so much hate flying around that it is hard to believe that its possible for anybody to be safe here. Since the reports on Jeffrey Webb came out it a lot of crimes happening. Obviously, he never started and it looks like he is not going to close the doors. Don’t worry your time is at hand.

Steal $5, I will forgive you, steal MILLIONS of dollars from the youth of this country and development of the sport in this country to line your own pockets, no forgiveness whatsoever.

Really, every dollar JW took from bribes (if he did), according to the US indictment he did, he took from children who love football everywhere, including the Cayman Islands. Over twelve years and over $3 million waiting for pitch to be completed for our own children to be able to enjoy and learn the game and perhaps look for opportunities abroad. How many of our kids missed this opportunity? About 12 years ago I used to go to Turks and Caicos and they did not have pitch to play on, today T&C is ranked higher than the CI and have an operational goal project. I even recalled a citizen of T&C playing professional football in the MLS with LA Galaxy along David Beckham. Every time JW take a swim in his CI shaped pool he should be embarrass.

I thought Cayman was built by Pirates and that’s why we celebrated Pirates Week every year, not the church. All we are doing now is follow out heritage, stealing, robbing, bribery, rape and of course drug dealing.

Just another normal day on our island!

Cayman: corporate secrecy, so its difficult to work out whats happened, but hey. if you are caught, everyone will forgive you, so whats the problem? Therein is the reason we have both our home grown and foreign scoundrels. You are unlikely to get caught, and if you do, someone is going to say “everyone’s a sinner so as long as you repent that’s fine”. I do not think I have seen a culture anywhere else in the world that s blatantly accepts thieves and scoundrels misdoings (as long as they are Caymanian) and yet claims to be god fearing and law abiding, and wonders why crime is out of control. And yet the good folk are amazed that not everyone shares their values and sees this as a licence to steal and cheat – and then of course promptly forgive them.

to 8.27 If Jeff has committed crime, I’m sure you did. The difference between you and him is he would scorn the very action of picking up a pen to write about you the things you have written about him. Jeff is going to pull himself out of this mess and when he does , be careful you are not in prison serving your time. When you dig one hole you dig two, because you are right behind him. Your destiny is Jeff Webb release.

Does anybody know or care that Jeff Webb is a major partner in one of the most profitable companies on 7 Mile Beach? Guess which one? Yep, the Captain’s Bakery with a monthly profit of nearly half a mil. Try going there for a little ice cream. This business XXXXX needs to be investigated by the police.

Nice. Mr. Webb will be fine in Georgia. Familiar territory. No more of the hustle & bustle of Brooklyn, NY.

A much better arrangement than living in New York City. At least he is able to continue enjoying what he has worked so hard for. It’s cozy, over-sized and has all the amenities needed to relax (as much as possible) while his U.S. Court battle moves ahead.

Most importantly, he gets to enjoy his family, more often.

Really?? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Why all of the hate, lets be supportive for one of our own and pray that he is found innocent.

      • SSM345 says:

9:05, prayer will not help him, he is guilty, read the 100+ page US Federal Indictment instead of your Bible and you might get it. If you can’t read, watch the TV press briefings. If you are blind, have someone explain the situation to you. All Jeff needs to figure out is how much talking he is willing to do to reduce his sentence at this stage.
