McGaw-Lumsden is running as an independent candidate in the constituency of George Town West.

Embarking on her third campaign for office, McGaw-Lumsden will continue to do what she has done for years – meet, connect and listen to people about their challenges and concerns, hopes and wishes for the Cayman Islands.
“Whether or not you reside in George Town West, I encourage every Caymanian to ponder the question, “Are we a country that requires its leaders to work for the benefit of the entire community or one that will settle for minimalistic achievements?” said McGaw-Lumsden. “It is incumbent upon us to vote, to demand more and refuse to settle for anything less than our country deserves. We should demand more from our elected officials and thus I am here to serve, to listen and to help move the country forward for the benefit of all Caymanians.”
Over the coming months, McGaw-Lumsden will share her perspectives on the most pressing issues facing the Cayman Islands and its people at present including:
- Housing and Cost of living
- Employment opportunities and Unemployment
- Education and Vocational training
McGaw-Lumsden has a well-rounded background and wealth of experience in the classroom, boardroom, and school of life. From private enterprise to non-profit service, from youth empowerment to women’s rights, she has a track record of service, and action and impact.
McGaw-Lumsden is a graduate of the Cayman Islands School and began her tertiary education with an associate’s degree from the International College of the Cayman Islands and was later awarded a scholarship to pursue an accounting degree from Howard University in Washington, DC. Thereafter, she acquired a master’s degree in law from Bristol University in the United Kingdom and a master’s degree in Sports Management from the Southern New Hampshire University.
Over the course of her career, McGaw-Lumsden worked in the financial services industry and also as a lecturer at the International College of the Cayman Islands for Business Law and General Principles of Law. She has also served as a board member for the Health Services Authority, National Roads Authority, Information and Communications Technology Authority, Education Council – Scholarship Secretariat, Water Authority Cayman, and the Immigration Appeals Tribunal.
Now a successful entrepreneur with several businesses, McGaw-Lumsden has also become a strong advocate for the local arts and is deeply committed to public service. In recognition of her leadership and contribution to community service, she was nominated as a finalist for the Young Caymanian Leadership Award in 2006.
McGaw-Lumsden is a board member of Generation Now, a youth empowerment programme that provides, amongst other things, workshops on personal budgeting, scholarships, and professional development. She is a past member of the Young Business and Professional Women’s Club and former member of a task force for Young Business and Professional Women’s Club which helped implement laws to prevent sexual harassment and stalking.
On and off the campaign trail, McGaw-Lumsden continues to work hard to improve the lives of others, often sharing her life story and experiences through motivational talks to and mentorship of students at local high schools and young professional groups.
McGaw-Lumsden noted, “I invite the people of George Town West to begin this journey with me. Let us work together for a better tomorrow. I believe that, with your support, we can absolutely achieve greatness for all Caymanians and people who call the Cayman Islands home.”

What is her stance on the dock?? I am voting for any of GTW that states they are against the dock. Funny how I can’t find out what each think about it…
I would give her slightly more attention if she was to come and take a vocal stance against the head of the party she was once aligned with. Enough fence-sitting. Half of your voters are women. Are you with them or with “him”?
I am very proud of Pearlina. What a amazing achievements.
In entering the race she shows more gumption than most of us men and women. That was the same smarts and courage that she demonstrated in her climb up the academic and career ladders.
We each have to make our decisions on whom we vote for but give her her due.
Best of luck on the next phase of your amazing journey, Pearlina.
She’s wasting everyone’s time

More like Stay Home!
Waste of time. If you can’t beat Hew you definitely can’t beat David.
A huge trade down if you ask me.
Is she really an independent though? All of her previous attempts have been as part of the UDP. I get that a connection to the speaker may pose a problem but she didn’t denounce his actions in her press release either.
Also is the change of districts because she thinks David would be easier to unseat then Joey….
This is my first time voting in an election and I will be voting in GTW. This article does sound promising and she seems to be quite qualified, however I see that she has been previously affiliated with the UDP – why?
Sounds great and best wished, but what businesses do you own? Those should be openly disclosed so we can be assured there is no conflict of interest.
Looking for a Home, got to find a home.
