Migrants evacuated during fire at Fairbanks centre
(CNS): Police are investigating a fire at the Customs and Border Control Detention Centre at Fairbanks on Monday. CBC said it started at about 1:00pm and the eight migrants housed there were evacuated from the building while the Cayman Islands Fire Service extinguished the blaze.
Arson suspected after fire at migrant centre
(CNS): The Cayman Islands Fire Service successfully tackled a small fire at the Fairbanks Customs and Border Control Service Detention Center in George Town on Friday lunchtime. The Cuban migrants who are being held at the centre were all evacuated from the building while the fire crews extinguished the blaze. No one was injured.
2.7Ks of cocaine seized from fishing boat
(CNS): Customs and Border Control recovered four packages containing 2.7 kilos of cocaine from a commercial fishing vessel on 20 August. The vessel was stopped by the Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG) in local waters and escorted to the George Town Port, where CBC inspected the boat.
