Cops find stolen car with public’s help

2000 white Toyota Mark II, similar to the stolen car

(CNS) UPDATED: The white 2000 Toyota Mark II that was stolen from Whitman Seymour Road in George Town over the weekend has been found. Police said the vehicle was recovered yesterday but they did not say where it was found. Officers are now investigating the circumstances of the stolen vehicle and thanked the public for their assistance in finding it.

    Quick off the mark,, I suspect the thief crashed at high speed into the West Bay Police Station.

    They will probably be in court next week. The chip in the new license plates fed the information back to the police from the numerous checkpoints the car, of necessity, passed through. Besides the information fed from the new license plates, the surveillance camera system that was installed many years ago has video footage with clear images of the occupants for just about every yard the car travelled as they drove the car from where it was stolen to the final destination.

    Police are becoming aware that stolen cars are used as getaway vehicles after robberies.

    Curious. What’s up with this? What makes this stolen car more special than others that are stolen that it is on CNS?

    CNS: We post all the RCIPS reports about stolen cars. There just haven’t been any for a while. I’ve no idea if that’s because no cars have been stolen or the police haven’t issued press releases about them.
