Online form created for quicker quarantine exit

| 02/02/2022 | 58 Comments

(CNS): The Public Health Department has created a new online platform to enable people who tested positive for COVID-19 but have completed their full isolation period, are asymptomatic and have CT values of 32 or more to be released more quickly. An early release request can be sent to PHD through the new online form here, where people can upload a PCR exit result. If the criteria are met, they will receive an isolation release exit confirmation email to leave quarantine.

According to the latest figures from Public Health, there are still around 5,500 people in isolation but there are indications that the number of positive cases may finally be starting to fall.

While concerns remain that people are simply not reporting anymore because of the problems surrounding isolation, officials confirmed that there were 438 new cases on the 28 and 29 January, the lowest daily average for several weeks. So far, the count for positive cases on Sunday is just 132.

Hospital numbers have not been confirmed since the weekend, when there were 18 admissions, but officials have confirmed that Education Minister Juliana O’Connor-Connolly has been released from the hospital and is continuing her recovery at home.

I still have to pay $75, and be late to work 3 times for this nonsense. I am not a rich person. This is a useless endeavor, and serves no purpose other than to punish low income persons. And some Karen wants to give rich people Fancy Pocket Books? Am I in Narnia?

Too much beaurocracy about isolation. Why dont we follow UK practice or CDC guideline.
Are we more knowledgeble than them.

Anybody know how many people Sabrina, “ The Queen of Mean” has had arrested for not reporting a positive LFT?

  4. Anonymous says:

Whoever makes this up needs to look beyond their nose to the damage they’re causing. People are losing their jobs waiting for release because employers have had enough and don’t believe them. Fix the rules and clearly state them so ALL can follow rather than try to keep up with all the changes.

Still waiting my results on Cayman Brac from December 23rd, 2021.

Public Health and the Ministry of Health are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. In a feeble attempt to control the population with so-called public health directives – all of this is causing havoc.

Yes, it is sad that Covid has taken so many lives, but at what point in time do we follow the guidance of the Motherland (UK) and not the great promised land to the North (Biden/Fauci failed socialistic Covid Policies) …. just saying.

I work out in the public, not vaccinated and have not caught Covid in two years. Know people who have had 3 shots and they are quarantined at home – so much for the bs misinformation from last year that getting vaccinated would prevent you from getting Covid ….just saying.

You see sheeple, the first thing Dr. Lees replacement did was delay public reporting – just saying.

Why would you need a letter when your PCR is negative? Surely it would only be needed for those on the fence negative and not wasting time for the no question negatives….

    • Anonymous says:

Yes – it’s for those who are positive but the number of cycles to get the positive result shows they are unlikely to be infectious. The same people who would previously been kept in quarantine just because the rule said so.

  7. Questions?? says:

Question for those who have visited and experienced the day 2/5/7 testing.

    1) Did the testing sites collect your ID and record your test results on any official document or official website?

    2) If you or anyone you know tested positive, was there a follow-up to ensure you came in for a PCR to confirm the positive LFT?

    3) If you or anyone you know tested positive, was there any follow-up to make sure you were staying in quarantine?

    4) How about follow-up for positive quarantining people to remind them to come in for an exit PCR?

    5) When you left the island did the airline collect your card to prove you completed the supervised LFT test on 2/5/7?

    6) Did the airline accept LFT result to return to the US even if you had been in quarantine?

I’d really love to hear from people that have experienced these situations as a visitor.

    • Anonymous says:

Nope. I took my parents through that whole super spreader testing event every single time they needed to be there and not once did someone ask for that when they were on island or when they were at the airport.

      • Anonymous says:

Nope- no one took my testing card when I left the island. I tested day 2,5 and 6 ( 24 hrs before departure)- $90US and brought the card that I guarded w/ my life home as a souvenir! Thankfully, tested negative on all tests.

    • Anonymous says:

Yes to #1, don’t have answers to 2 a-f for positive LFT experience. COVID loophole: a positive PCR certificate can be used in lieu of test for entry to many airlines/countries after 11 days and up to 6 months, even if the variants recovered from are as different as Delta and Omicron.

  8. Anonymous says:

Great! I’m waiting two days now for my test and I’ve even emailed them.

  9. Anonymous says:

    Whatever happened to the flu?

  10. Anonymous says:

The test kits were purchased by someone, they have to re-sell it now. They will stop testing when all test kits are sold, at profit, I assume.

name one working, functional CIG website, portal or organization… ill wait.

For real. Cayman Business Portal has to be one of the worst ever. Government websites are the worst.

Let us be free, stop it. STOP the MADNESS

We are among the freest places you can name right now, and have the highest community transmission rate on the planet to prove it There are no tickets being written, no QR passports, no distancing, restaurants, bars, nightclubs all open, defiant non-mask wearing, and persistent vax hesitancy. Enjoy it, with a side order of COVID!

That’s just it. It is imagination and some people believe their imagination is real.

Masks don’t do crap. Jabs don’t work. Lockdowns don’t work. COVID therapeutics work. Common sense works.

Let’s see if government relinquishes their power willingly.

These policies are not based on any science at all but on irrational fear alone.

  14. Anonymous says:

This should have been made from the beginning not at the end of the pandemic. Now we will stay under these rules longer to justify sending on this

  15. Anonymous says:

What a load of crap! Stop exit testing!

    It’s brilliant and works perfectly!

I tried it tonight and it took all of 2 minutes! The email was virtually automatic and my child is now out and about and able to rejoin her class tomorrow.

  17. Anonymous says:

What genius came up with this horseshit?

Here is another suggestion, in line with CDC and UK guidance: If you test positive on an LFT, isolate for 5 days, test with LFT again & if negative go about your business. Do not, repeat, do not report any positives to CIG as they will unlawfully detain you and your family in your own home.

CIG can butt out with their PCR tests and no-one should be pandering to this grotesque government overreach.

    • Anonymous says:

Yesterday we got emailed same day results on earlier exit PCR, filled in form with >32 positive, and was immediately emailed a permission to release certificate. Couldn’t have been faster. Some people will complain about anything, including massive improvements in exit release service level. Thank you Public Health for finally figuring this stuff out!

      • Anonymous says:

if it worked for you, congratulations, doesn’t it mean works for everyone. Speak for yourself and stop judging.

The time and effort they spent making this garbage should have been used to abolish the foolish certified LFT policy which is currently destroying the Sister Islands and their people.

    • Dmc says:

Why is there no one talking about the film and production that shut down when the government arrested and put in jail the film crews they not coming back wtf

    • Anonymous says:

This too late policy of LFT to the Sister Islands have succeeded in killing the Sister Islands already small economy. Who is it protecting there has been community spread in the Sister Islands for months. What next road blocks for LFT between districts in Grand?

      • Anonymous says:

An LFT or certified LFT is hardly a roadblock to anything. It takes like 10 minutes. Or you can risk the $250 ticket, not that anyone is handing those out. So much drama over nothing.

  21. Anonymous says:

    Newsflash: won’t be reporting.
2 consecutive LFTs and I’m out.

this is the culture that CIG has created. If they had more sensible ways about this three years into a pandemic with multiple cities as proof and skewed rules that topple into each other maybe people will trust and work with them. in the mean time, a lot of us are doing against the maddness and doing exactly this to combat CIG and their insane rules.

CIG will restrict everything social and outdoors except working life when i see more people coming to work and at my desk than i do any place else. and everyone i know that has it are contacts of those in offices.. so whats the catch

      • Anonymous says:

Actually, this culture has always been in place. The era of leaders like Trump and the Q Anon lunatics made people like this feel free to share their true selves.

Unfortunately, we are now discovering how many people actually suck.

Mark my words. Not one single person will be released earlier from quarantine as a result of this electronic form.

    • Anonymous says:

We were released with low >32 positive PCR. Super easy now, actually. We should celebrate these improvements.

  24. Anonymous says:

    End this madness already!

  25. Anonymous says:

Huh? How will this make it quicker if we don’t get our results for 3 days? School age children need to get back to school ASAP or risk falling behind. What a load of crock. I will never report another covid illness in my home again after the piss poor job CIG has done running this.

There’s no shame in having Covid, it’s a highly contagious virus.

There is shame in having Covid, not telling the people you’ve been around and/or continuing to hang out with ppl while knowingly sick with a highly contagious and potentially deadly virus.

Shame also rests on government’s push to return to normal with little to no enforcement of established regulations in restaurants, bars, or other public spaces.

The trend of wearing fashionable masks or silly bandannas that offer minimal protection is also most likely a contributing factor in the spread of Covid, and yet, no business or agency is requiring proper mask use.

We are so consumed with a return to a normal that vanished in 2020 that we are unwilling to change our processes or even use the minimum of common sense and empathy for others.

“Peoples with comorbidities” aren’t people who were too sick to live. it’s a father who has to watch his blood pressure, a grandmother who is healthy but survived cancer, a cousin who wears an insulin pump, a sister or coworker whose asthma is mostly under control.

What is to come from this pandemic? The Spanish Flu pandemic provides the likely answers.

The spanish flu killed 1% of Europe.

It also caused permanent chronic illnesses in tens of millions of people.

Kidney disease, heart disease, developmental disabilities, stroke victims, etc.

Doctors decades later could tell exactly when their patient’s mother contracted the flu during her pregnancy by which organ system shut down first.

In the wake of a devastating pandemic, millions of survivors were left with debilitating permanent health issues.

The effects of long Covid are real and are increasing globally.

History will not judge our society well if we continue the path we appear to be on, with this pandemic as well as climate change issues.

Mother Nature and/or a higher power has been sending us signals for decades and this pandemic is one of the clearest ones yet, and we refuse to believe it.

Blame greed, selfishness, the normalization of sickness and death, lack of empathy, and the overall current state of humanity. We are our worst enemies.

      • Anonymous says:

You know we can have COVID and not tell the government all while we self-isolate until negative right?

      • Anonymous says:

Sickness and death are normal- are they not?
And life expectancies in most western cultures continues to increase.

I’m with you on the greed, selfishness, and lack of empathy.

Got same day results on exit PCR. Low positives can also immediately apply and receive a release letter in minutes. Nobody got hurt. All good. Progress!
