325 more cases of COVID-19 reported over 24 hours
(CNS): Between 8am Tuesday and 8am Wednesday, the highest daily tally of positive COVID-19 tests were recorded, when another 325 cases were confirmed by Public Health from a batch of 1,413 PCR tests, 320 of which were community transmissions. As of yesterday morning, there were 2,485 active cases across all three islands, including 80 cases in the Sister Islands, where they did not record any new infections during that 24-hour period. There are now 15 people in the hospital with COVID-19, three of whom are in the Critical Care Unit, including one person who is now on a ventilator and two more who are having help breathing.
Five of the people currently in the hospital were admitted with the virus over the last 24 hours, while four were discharged over the same period. Twelve out of the 15 people currently being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital are unvaccinated, but no other details of their age or pre-existing health conditions have been revealed.
The remaining 2,470 infected people are managing any symptoms they have at home. In a video message about the current situation, Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee said most people who are infected will have very mild symptoms, such as a fever or a cough, that can be relieved with paracetamol and after a few days they will be well again.
In addition to the people who are currently positive, Public Health officials said that there more than 2,000 people who are isolating as a result of either being a traveller or a close contact of an infected person. As of 8am yesterday, the number of people in isolation increased by 232 for a total of 4,806, or more than 6.7% of the population.
The government is still hoping to curb the spread of the infection by encouraging people to wear masks, wash their hands frequently and maintain social distancing.
Despite the high level of infections yesterday, the CMO said, “We are managing the numbers that we have. We’ve been in this scenario with positive community cases for some nine weeks now, and you’ll be aware that in many countries around the world these so-called waves of infection, as they travel through the community and a lot of people get infected, often take around two to three months to begin to see them burning out.”
To date, Cayman has now recorded 3752 positive cases of COVID-19, with well over 3,000 of them occurring in the last two months.

This post in relation to someone’s comment asking Dr Lee if he takes paracetamol daily ok .
I’m completely missing the context here but for obscurity that’s a 100% thumbs up 😉
If the Health Authorities have said to public 6 weeks ago prior to the local transmission that vaxed will get mild symptoms or no symptoms and unvaxed will get severely sick and paracetamol will help for mild symptoms would have got confidence and trust with health info.
But CMO saying these after the fact doesnt help much. Easy to loose trust . So CMO should be ahead of game.
Paracetamol is to manage fever. It has no role against the covid virus.
I hope Dr Lee is not saying that. If true then Noble prize.

Basically, anyone that doesn’t want to test their immune response again Delta should seriously consider leaving the islands and coming back in February or March 2022 when this surge is over. Either that, or bunker down for a few months. CIG has decided to surrender and let the cards fall where they may.
Right, now is the time to test one’s own natural immunity before the opening.

Not CIG, segments of the population have decided not to comply with the basic COVID protocols.
They are NO basic Covid protocols that call for offices with hundreds of people in them to operate as normal. The failure of Government to mandate protocols in such environments is negligent, as is the failure of the RCIP/Public health to arrest those who are going about town even though they know they are positive.
This government has a lot to answer for. They have caved in to the churches, locals and anti-cabal idiots. If only they had made vaccination compulsory for everyone in January, no one would be in hospital and the borders would have opened 6 months ago.

What is the age range of hospitalized and those In critical care? Those in critical care, are they vaccinated or unvaccinated? How many of vaxxed and how many of unvaxxed have underlying health Issues?

CNS has been asking. The Government is choosing not to provide all the requested information and giving answers that support their expectations of the public.
Maybe just maybe you might want to consider some additional public health measures.
Like a lockdown of the unvaccinated.
Would you lock away all the unvaccinated children? Who would take care of them? Or would you lock up their vaccinated parents too? Just wondering how much you thought your solution through.
Clearly public health measures only apply to people who are eligible and able to take the vaccine. Just like they are everywhere else in the world. It would not affect children since they are not eligible to take the vaccine.
what sense would it make to lock down some unvaxxed and not the others that aren’t eligible? Wouldn’t the purpose of the lockdown be to reduce spread? It makes no sense.
It does reduce spread by limiting the number of unvaccinated people spreading covid in public. Children and those unable to be vaccinated will be even more protected because they’ll be less likely to interact with people with covid since unvaccinated people are more likely to catch it.
It wouldn’t be fair to lockdown people unable to be vaccinated. This is just a way of lowering risk.
I hate to hear stupid ignorant responses like this. I can’t believe what it has come to. All this hate… vaxxed or unvaxxed can still get the virus and spread it. The difference is the vaxxed have this impression that they are immune so they don’t get regular tests done to ensure they don’t have COVID hence the reason the unvaxxed are spreading it more. Everyone has a right to choose it is a matter of taking the right precautions and having common sense which you clearly don’t have. You don’t even know the reason people choose to not get vaccinated so stop judging and maybe start using the brain you might have to think.. stop throwing blame and try to find a solution to what us coming
The best solution that we have is to vaccinate everyone that is able and eligible. That helps protect children and those unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons because vaccinated people are five times less likely to catch covid (obviously you can’t spread covid if you don’t have it) and are infectious for less time.
I know that unvaccinated people do not like to hear that they are a greater threat to the community but that is the truth, and that is why governments across the world are encouraging vaccinations.
I think you need to start using the brain you “might” have. Unless your “reason” is for not getting vaccinated is that you’re allergic to an ingredient in the vaccines, it’s not a good one. Anyone with common sense can see that it’s clear that the majority of people who will be in the hospital who get seriously sick and die are unvaccinated.
You can try and twist that fact any way you like but the reality is that it’s hard not to judge people who think they are smarter than they are.

Then why is 25 % of Iowa hospital ADMITTED COVID cases fully vaccinated and less than 1% past COVID infection. So what is written in media print is different than what is really happening. You need the vaccine because they help. But, you are going to need to get through a natural infection too. And, guess what Cayman your isolationist mindset failed. Any one should have known it would.
There needs to be a lockdown of all unvaccinated people ASAP.

The Head of State of Austria, a country of 9 million people, announced today that
“more than two thirds of the people should not suffer because others were hesitant”. 11,975 new COVID cases were recorded in the past 24 hours. A lockdown of the unvaccinated is going into affect this weekend.
Doesn’t matter. Everyone will catch it.
The purpose is to slow the rate of infection so it doesn’t overwhelm the healthcare system. Not only are the unvaccinated protected but it is less likely that a vaccinated person will pass covid to another vaccinated person, making it safer for everyone.
Our healthcare system may not be overwhelmed now, and hopefully it stays that way, but it’s still early days. Public health measures now could help bring things under control.
Unfortunately it does not appear that CIG wants to make any difficult decisions that way.
The purpose is to make money.

These outcomes are mostly preventable through vaccination. Many insurance companies will no longer cover COVID-19 related hospital charges for unvaccinated people.

Not true. Insurance companies must provide coverage for COVID related charges, however, in the past month, insurance companies in America have started to dramatically increase health insurance premiums for the unvaccinated.

The problem is not the re-opening which has not happened yet, it is the unvaccinated and those who still will not follow logical protocols. And no, I am not un-empathetic; BUT, they still should have gotten the vaccine if at all possible.

I long for the days when we were living a normal life. Covid was imported in travellers, but quarantine was keeping it away from the population and it was working. We were all living wonderfully free and carefree lives. THAT was normal.
And now…this is not getting back to normal. Normal was what we had before quarantine was relaxed.
I just don’t get it. People thought quarantine was such a huge inconvenience but now isn’t all this even worse than that?
We gave up something truly unique and wonderful for the sake of the dollar. If any of you end up on a ventilator, I’m sure you won’t think all this was worth it.

Dr John, if I take a paracetamol daily will that help me obtain the scarce LFT kits ?, will it get me to the front of the line when the next batch of vaccines come in ?, will it provide that my employer has to continue to compensate me after showing positive even weeks later after testing ?, will it get my kids to school consistently ?, – Dr John Lee, permit me to point out there is another picture we should be looking at here as well besides just waiting for it ‘to burn out’ 👨⚕️
