(CNS): Police are investigating three reports of gunshots being fired in different places during the early hours of Monday morning that officers believe could all be linked. The trio of firearm incidents began in West Bay with a report of shots fired in Finch Drive. When officers arrived at the scene around 1:10am, they found two empty cars with bullet holes, including in the petrol tank of one of the vehicles.

Forty minutes later, at about 1:50am, a report came in that more shots had been fired in George Town at Pedestrian Plaza off Printers Way. Less than half an hour later another report was made that guns had been fired at The Strand off Canal Point Road.

At all three crime scene investigators collected evidence, which was not detailed by the RCIPS. At the first one the police called in the fire service to make the tank safe before the scene was processed.

No suspects were encountered at any of the scenes as the shooters had left before the police arrived. Police also confirmed that there have been no reported injuries as a result of these incidents so far.

Detectives believe these incidents “involve a specific group of individuals” and there is a possibility the incidents are linked. But police said they were keeping an open mind at this early stage of the investigation.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information that might assist in these investigations to call the Major Incident Room at 649-2930.

  1. Deportation Worx says:

One of the main problem now also 739pm those that do not belong to these shores . Who are either mixed up or involved in serious crimes here now for some idiotic reason can not be now deported because of “the right to family life” ,Yet decent or law abiding residents who contribute to Cayman society are made to returned home because of immigration policies and decisions. Yes and we have actual persons in our government employ to support this Bull$#@%. What about the human rights of the victims of these crimes perpetrated by them.

Mann Lik a shot been going here for years bro ! Caymanians been dying on this rock and not one single solitary successful strategy to deal with the amount guns and violence that occurs partly do to the promotion of certain criminals and corrupt elements right here in the Law enforcement arena. Instead terminating these extremely corrosive elements we have allowed them to be legitimised and established by electing ,appointed, awarded them royal titles and positions of power and immunity from legal consequences or accountability and to added insult to injury to the public dismay by seeking their advice on such matters that affect us all . It is our own indifference that allows corruption to flourish in this case our governing power is one of these culprits and frequently now to blame for this. The NSC is a utter and complete waste of time as is those who perched themselves in its ranks !

We once had a law that had a 20 years mandatory jail sentence for possession of an unlicensed firearm, whether used in a crime or not. That was a reasonable deterrent but what did our legislators do? Amended the law to make it softer, giving judges discretion. Well so much for a deterrent. Gun crime is through the roof and criminals don’t give a $hite!

Instead of waffling and flip flopping about COVID, our legislators need to re-amend that legislation and 25 years (no judge discretion) would be a good starting point.

Personally, I think the death penalty is better by far! It doesn’t cost much to bury them but keeping them at the bad boys hotel runs up the cost too much!

This ridiculous gun violence needs to stop. It’s putting the good people in a precarious situation, where we have to think twice where we socialize, otherwise a stray bullet (intended for someone else) might hit us.

I pray that no innocent person gets hurt. And I hope that the violence stops. We need to build each other up, not tear down. Crabs in a barrel mentality needs to change.
