Passenger boards CAL flight with positive COVID test
(CNS): A woman was allowed to board a Cayman Airways flight in Kingston, Jamaica, yesterday and fly to Grand Cayman despite having a positive test for COVID-19. The woman and her companion were detained when a Customs and Border Control (CBC) officer here at Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) checked the her PCR documents and they were both placed in government quarantine.
It appears that airline agents in Jamaica missed the positive test result. Both Travel Cayman and the airline are now conducting investigations into how the woman was able to breach the COVID-19 health and safety protocols. All the other passengers who were aboard the flight are currently in quarantine and will be closely monitored by Public Health and Travel Cayman.
“We are grateful for the vigilance of the CBC team, who quickly highlighted and addressed this incident,” said Medical Officer of Health Dr Samuel Williams-Rodriguez, adding that there was no cause for public health concern.
Cayman Airways said that the airline requires the Kingston station agents to conduct two checks of negative COVID-19 test results before passengers are allowed to board flights bound for Grand Cayman. CAL President and CEO Fabian Whorms said that, given the apparent breach of the process, an internal investigation was underway while measures have been put in place to introduce a third check at the gate prior to boarding.
“Our airline will be working with the Travel Cayman team and local Public Health authorities in order to also put additional measures in place to ensure that such a situation does not reoccur,” he said.
He noted that all Cayman Airways flight crew are fully vaccinated, wear full personal protective equipment (PPE) on all international flights, and were “completely cleared by Public Health authorities in Grand Cayman of any possible exposure”.
Cayman Airways’ standard COVID-19 safety procedures include onboard social distancing, limited in-flight service, and sanitizing aircraft between flights, which have all been carried out today as usual.
The news of the breach came just a few hours after public health officials confirmed that two people in the community had tested positive for the coronavirus.
As Cayman braces itself for more community transmission after more than 400 days without a case other than those in quarantine and isolation, the HSA has moved plans up to cope with more infections, including resumption of the Flu Clinic and Respiratory Care Unit (RCU).
Officials said the HSA is fully prepared for the reintroduction of the virus here and to treat all those who could become sick. However, those who are unvaccinated are being urged to get their shots as soon as possible.
ORIA is no longer providing space for the vaccination clinic, which is now operating from the Camana Bay location with additional district events.

Jamaica will be the death of Cayman. If not by the criminals we import from there it will be import of Covid. Time to grow a pair PACT!
Our culture is generally one of law abiding and peaceful but it is dying from the infiltration of other nationalities and their ways. We are slowly losing our identity. We are becoming the foreigners. They come here with no respect to our ways or these islands, law, culture or people. Far time to stop making them say “where would cayman be without us”!. Where would they be without these islands and the prosperity/work it gives them is the question. Don’t bite the hand that feed you! We are being taken over Cayman… And its greed that’s doing this! PACT PLEASE SAVE CAYMANIANS!
Simple:
Ban Jamaican flights!
Jail the 2 passengers.
Fine and deport them.
Bermuda does a 2 seat rule for close contact quarantine for sitting near someone who is positive. They don’t quarantine the whole plane ffs.
It has only occurred once the news reports.
But just suppose …
If the passenger turns out to be a civil servant working in the country’s highest office,
And her ‘companion’ is closely related to a new MP….
Would either one of them be charged with knowingly attempting to escape quarantine.?
2.13pm A redundant question, if they were we would never have known about it.
Jail this fool and her accomplices and PACT certainly needs to act responsibly by restoring the 14days of quarantine for ALL arriving on this island. It was a very very foolish idea to do away with established quarantine measures but it’s absolutely clear who exactly they are listening to and who they catering to . The same folks who are running around this island who are not wearing mask and not using sanitizer and not taking preventive measures and already back to their normal behavior . This place has never been closed we have more folks here now than ever before. We are simply restoring their conveniences to the detriment of our lives and our children we saw their behavior during lockdown and we see it now. When is Our government ever going to listen to what Cayman people want for their island ???
What a load of nonsense. As a cayman resident I who paid cayman taxes that contribute hugely to all the roads, schools, stipend etc, I should be free to travel and 5 days as vaccinated is plenty of quarantine time on return assuming I have a negative test at day 5.
I didn’t realize that paying taxes makes you an expert on health and safety matters.
Your opinion is based on what scientific study or proof??? Cayman Taxes please spare us it’s the least you can do for your opulent lifestyle you surely couldn’t afford or enjoy in your homeland I am quite sure.
i think the 14 days for unvacinated people is still in place. the 5 days is for vacinated people.
ps take the politics out of this. we suffer we triumph together. politics devides us.
There has to be consequences for her for knowingly doing this. She has cost OUR government God know how much to quarantine a plane full of people for 14 days. Make her pay or jail time. Not a genuine mistake, make an example so the next one to thinks twice about.
So a Jamaican agent, presumably not an employee of CAL soyou can’t directly blame CAL this time although they are ultimately responsible, lets a Jamaican on a plane in Jamaica.
Surprise surprise, not.
Why are the Government hiding the origin of all the positive tests arriving on island? I think we know only too well where a vast majority of them come from, and I think we know only too well the answer.
As a Caymanian I’m fed up with this pandering to certain sections, but I’m not surprised as it’s all politrics.
Correct 7.30 money changed hands Jamaican style of doing business.
Not sure I buy the theory that the passenger bribed a gate agent. She would still risk several more checks to her documents. Would have been simpler just to fake a negative test if she wanted to game the system. But, the behavior of her traveling companion suggests that at least he knew she was positive.
Talk to your Jamaican helpers how it’s done and they will tell you how it go.
Pure setup on Cayman
Why do you assume this person is Jamaican?
Because of the way they destroyed their own country.
Bottom line is that Cayman Airways is to held criminally negligent. KX cannot simply blame third parties. Mr Whorms the buck stops with your organization.
Under Cayman law the DPP should prosecute Cayman Airways. That is the strict reading of the law. “Person” under Cayman law includes corporate entities
Great then the government can give Cayman Airways our money to pay the fine? Or do you think CAL should just stop flying?
Shareholders are not liable. CIG is simply the shareholder of the ckmpany called Cayman Airways. Agree that under the law the Cayman Airways is liable for prosecution for breaching Cayman law. The world is watching whether CIG upholds it’s own laws.
That’s a Jamaica mess up thing.
I would imagine that the gate agent assumed it was a negative PCR because who in their right mind would attend the airport with a positive PCR? So this traveler clearly tried, and succeeded with gaming the system. She should pay the quarantine cost for all of those other passengers. As well as her partner, who clearly knew of the con. Why else would he bail? As judge Judy says…‘don’t pee on my leg and say it is raining’. Some excuses are believable, some are not. Make this traveler pay. She is 100 times worse than jet ski girl.
Talk to your Jamaican helpers how it’s done and they will tell you how it go.
Again, why the panic over this? They are in quarantine. Surely every flight has positives hence the 700 positive cases we had so far in 18 months. Calm down.
Positives emerge from TESTING after quarantine. This is a case of a person travelling when it is known she is positive, that is the difference. She penetrated weak defences.
As usual. Like they always do.
Did she have one of those fake CDC cards I’ve heard so much about?
🎯Every flight from Every country Cayman Airways flies to and from!!!!
(Not only Jamaica)
Money talks EVERYWHERE, bull$&!) walks EVERYWHERE!!
Jamaica is a joke.
People get positive results and are sent home to self-quarantine.
I am sure this woman knew she had a positive result but she figured she already bought her ticket so she was going anyway.
Ticket agents in Jamaica and all those who allowed her to pass through should be prosecuted.
Passenger needs to be in jail.
I agreed with Skylar Mack’s sentence for breaching quarantine and she had a negative test so this passenger MUST go to jail for putting all the other passengers and the country at risk.
Anon @ 6:24pm – I fully agree but wait til you hear that the Law doesn’t cover her alleged act because she wasn’t yet in quarantine! Perhaps there’s no penalty for hiding “that little secret” or faking documents! A friend buddy lawyer will get her off just like that! Morons write our laws!
Surprise us Justice system!
Relax. She appears in obvious breach of the Public Health Act.
Did you call for the prosecution of the young Caymanian man?
I agree. She knew she had it but was determined to come here anyway. Both she and her partner didn’t care about anyone else getting it once they got back to their haven. They both should be jailed, charged, fined and sent to prison. These people gets away with too much things here on this Island. All these things that are happening here with making things so easy for them to come here, work here, get business licenses here and remain here needs to stop. As a matter of fact not only them but they are the majority here now and that is not be the way it should be at all. Caymanians need to be the majority in their own country. Also the ones who are getting the majority of benefits. Not these people who just come here to better themselves and their own lives.
Great news from the US this evening – US authorities say that Pfizer will likely be available for 5-11 year olds by the end of October!
“U.S. health officials believe that Pfizer Inc’s Covid-19 vaccine could be authorised for children aged 5-11 years old by the end of October, two sources told Reuters.
The timeline is based on the expectation that Pfizer, which developed the shot with Germany’s BioNTech, will have enough data from clinical trials to seek emergency use authorization (EUA) for that age group from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) towards the end of this month, the sources said.
They anticipate the FDA could make a decision on whether the shot is safe and effective in younger children within three weeks of the EUA submission.”
The two words “POSITIVE and NEGATIVE” look nothing alike – what pray tell type of “checking” is going on?
Things are fast becoming a clown show now! No wonder so many people everywhere are protesting against further infringement on persons. The rules / protocols must be fairly applied across the board or people will no doubt not only become “relaxed” but will refuse to adhere to said rules and protocols.
Thank you to our CBC Officers.
Civil Service rocks!!
5.20pm They can certainly read, that’s “world class”.
I don’t know the wording on a positive test but my negative test did not use that word but said “Not Detected”. And my test was done in Florida not Jamaica, so who knows whether they use similar wording. Doesn’t alter the fact that two people independently got it wrong, which is clearly cause for concern.
Didn’t this happen with HIV results a few years ago…what’s going on with this country..
It is what has always been going on – incompetence.
This must have been deliberate. If the woman knew she was positive for the virus, she knew she won’t be allowed to board the plane. Maybe she just paid her way through. She and her companion should be prosecuted fully and everyone aboard that flight should sue!
3:34 Why are y’all blaming the woman, why not blame who is to blame.
And who would that be?
If I were any of the other people who were quarantined because of this, I would sue.
All the passengers need to bring a class action against Cayman Airways, who I am sure, will recover any damages from the agency in Jamaica. The flights there should stop until the Jamaican Govt guarantee the safety of all who fly from there. There has to be consequences for this breach it is simply unacceptable. Including consequences for the positive patient. The minute she comes out of quarantine she should be deported and banned from ever returning to Cayman.
Spot on. She knowingly boarded and flew placing countless people at risk. Take her and her passport to the airport after quarantine. Hats off to the Cayman airport staff that caught this blunder. One week off with pay and a lifetime A+ in reading for that person.
So now we should hold countries accountable for individuals? Was she employed here? If so, who’s her employer? What’s your stance on the East Ender who was enslaving a young Jamaican boy? Or is that to be swept under the rug?
Cayman Airways also broke the law. Any US Citizen on that flight can most likely all sue Cayman Airways in US courts.
Shiver me timbers!
Basically every time you travel there is someone who tests positive. It’s just the nature of the covid beast. Learn to live with it. So this woman slipped thru the cracks or couldn’t read or someone made a mistake. She was going to test positive once she hit quarantine anyhow and once quarantine goes, she will test positive and go into quarantine.
As for the panic buying, all that does is raise prices. Stop doing that. It is extremely unnecessary. 3 covid cases in the community. I am sure there probably were more and people wrote it off as a summer cold, sinus infection or allergies.
Vaccine. Masks. Social Distance. Hand washing. Same thing repeated every day. Fear and panic only causes stress so when if or when you get covid you will have a harder time fighting it off.
All paxs were put in quarantine but CAL crew were not because CAL crew were vaccinated. Were any of the paxs vaccinated and if so, why were they quarantined? Government seems to apply the rules in a way that is convenient to some people. On a separate but related matter, are all returning government officials and their families being quarantined? If not, why not? Over to Dr. Lee (not!). Is there any truth to the rumour that they are being given written exemptions? And if so, what exempts them from quarantine requirements?
Inequality is what will allow the courts to decide if we need to quarantine at all if vaccinated or not. Someone should challenge this behaviour soon before we’re all locked back down again.
It is a stupid inconsistent application of policy. None of it makes sense when applied selectively.
I think all of us CNS posters owe their staff a huge thank you for putting up with all of us. Maybe we can all just stop for a second and say “thank you”. Because I for one know I get too hot, and start posting too fast. Sorry CNS. We really do appreciate all you do.
This a test of the Cayman justice system. If she gets a minute less in prison than Skylar Mack, then the whole thing is a joke.
We only make examples out of white people/expats.
Where’s the lol icon when you need it.
Will CIG sue Cayman Airways?
That was Kenny first open up border for all flights. He put on extra to Ja. He need to stop flights to there . It going to cost Govt lot of money to quarantine all those passengers. They they not going to pay for it themselves.
That’s the only place he can go.
We all know that a lot of Jamaicans ( others as well but this is a Jamaican incident now) find it hard to obey the rules. That is why covid is like a runaway train over there. Didn’t this lady know she had a card showing that she was positive? Cayman airways really need to ensure that better checks and being made before bringing infected persons over here.
Did she know? Of course she knew! Who the hell wouldn’t read their results?
She MUST have known and her “partner” – she gave the evidence to CAL and to CBC reps…she was obvioulsy trying it on.
If WP holders land them with the bill for the costs of quarantine/airport closure etc. which they won’t pay of course (but its a signal) and no point sending them to Northward – kick them back to JA for ever….
If residents – put a lien on their assets…
They knew EXACTLY what they were doing…..
Same with locals who visit others in quarantine.
9.12pm They can’t resist a game of dominoes!.
How many breaches in Cayman? Those people knew, too. They weren’t all Jamaicans who traveled back and forth for a year.
It is not the woman to blame!
Yes it is. She should have taken her a–home and not tried to get on that plane.
ALL the passengers should have already had quarantine arrangements approved from Travel Time and would have been going into quarantine, at their own expense, for a minimum of 5 days anyway. That would only have applied to passengers with a verified vaccination certificate. All others would have to quarantine for 10-14 days, at their own expense. It would only cost Govt money if they are staying longer that originally approved by Travel Time and if they are quarantined at a Govt facility. However, the costs should be passed on to the handling agent in JA.
Kenny campaigning from now and needs the bredren dem for him, Mac and Saunders.
Quite outrageous. People need to be sacked for this. No fudging.
Whorms should resign.
Quite right. The CEO should be on every incoming flight with a temperature gun a listening to hear if anyone coughs.
No but he is responsible for the oversight of the whole operation.
Yes, that’s why we fire the Prison Director every time a prison officer sneaks drugs into the prison, and we fire the Chief of Police every time a policeman commits a crime, and the Deputy Governor every time a Civil Servant proves to be useless etc.
Give him a promotion, that’s what CIG and other govt. entities do isn’t it?
Or he will just disappear from his job with full pay for a few years whilst being allegedly under investigation.
The woman need to be jailed, she knew she was postive and still boarded the plane for Cayman, she needs to be given the max, fined 10,000 dollars and put in prison for 2 years. And then deported if she is not Caymanian . Skylark an Ramgee went to prison for a lot less than this.
The Minister needs to resign first
He can’t Whorm his way out of this one
is explosive diarrhea really and the effect of Covid, cause all I wanted was a six roll yesterday and couldn’t find any at the store but they were all gone…SMH
This is bullshit. The people who let this woman and her accomplice should be penalized. Fire them. This negligence has cost the country.
How are we even sure that this was a “mistake” made by the people who waved them through at the first two checks? How do we not know this was all planned?
Probably corruption vs negligence. They just waved her through.
A lot of it is incompetence. We give people jobs who don’t have the skills or intelligence to do those jobs because, well, the people need jobs. There are also many capable people in the public service, but a good portion of them move on because they can’t handle the sheer level of incompetence without accountability. Some stay and try to bear it because of the safety factor and benefits of the job. They know exactly what I am talking about.
It cost all those people on the plane. Ridiculous to quarantine the whole plane. They sit social distanced anyway. They are wearing masks. How many on the flight are vaccinated?
The next phase includes testing on arrival. Based on this, in the next phase if a passenger tests positive will the entire plane load of passengers be “placed” in government quarantine?
Was yesterdays decision to isolate all the passengers a possible scenario that was planned for or a knee jerk reaction?
All the vaccinated passengers should be allowed to follow their own quarantine plan. The exception to this being additionally tested on arrival, three days in, at 6 days and released. Additionally they should be issued the GPS wrist bands.
Because they were in the vicinity of a person who has tested positive, their rights should not be infringed upon.
Ok so we have community spread and everyone is panicking. What was the plan for oct 14? Did anyone actually believe opening to tourism would not result in community spread?
Look at what’s going on in Israel, one of the most vaccinated countries in the world. Outbreak is just as big as before.
Sadly outbreak in Israel is mostly unvaccinated adults and children under the age of 12 🙁
Thankfully there no reported cases on Mars yet
Community spread in cayman before the borders opened. No need to panic. The people with covid quarantine. Everyone else continues on with their day. For those running out to buy TP- unless you have the poops, that is insane.
The DG said at the beginning of the pandemic last year – that it would be a new norm with people working from home. Yet, a lot of workers were called back to work in e few months.
Let the workers who are accomplishing their work from home – continue to work from home. I understand there may be a few workers who don’t do so well with working from home – so let them be in the office.
There will always be new variants of covid – it is not going away.
Nah we love to sit in traffic all day burning fossil fuel, and then sit in our open plan offices so the a/c can spread the wirus even further. The new norm for govt is just same ole same ole. A huge amount of the population can work from home, but it makes way too much sense.
Sit 3 ft apart from each other. You will be good. Wear masks when you can’t be apart. All’s good. Relax.
Why sit 3 feet apart and masked when you can do the job at home unmasked and with indoor freedom and eliminate spread?
11:14. I agree. I only work in the Office 2 days a week.
My HOD supports the DG vision.
Release the persons name. The public has a right to know. And nothing short of a full independent investigation.
This whole thing smells worse than a dead skunk beaten with a rotten salmon!
Why not you just publish your name here? Never mind name the passenger.
I wouldn’t go that far! I am sure that Dr. lee and the team along with CBC will take care of the protocols. However I think she should be responsible for all incidentals and deported as well.
More importantly who is the CAL dufus that missed read this woman’s documents?
10.53am Excuse me, living in Cayman please explain how you know what a dead skunk being beaten with a dead salmon smells like?.
So my thing is this person and “COMPANION” are a REAL THREAT to all of us, as they must have known this person was positive for covid, yet still tried to, and successfully ‘sneaked’ on a flight, in a presumed crowded environment and alleged was continually asked to keep mask on the flight.
Goes without saying this is not only a serious human error, but also a form of blatant disrespect for these islands, our laws and people. No EXCUSES! We worked too hard to keep this country “SAFE” to allow others to destroy it!
I find it hard to believe that any individual would knowingly get on a plane with the knowledge that they tested positive. If there is not a law against it there should be and the penalty should be very steep. Not just a slap on the wrist. How about attempted negligent homicide. They could in fact cause a death by doing this.
I believe it…
She isn’t the only one. Plus, once she was busted, her traveling companion tried to pretend they weren’t together in hopes of avoiding quarantine. Deport them both after quarantine and put them on a do not return list!
Perhaps neither of them understands the written word!,
Then they’re too stupid to travel and best stay home.
Even if she could not read…aren’t individuals told by PCR Testers the result of their test? Or maybe she is deaf too?
It is not the woman to blame
Heads need to roll for this- here and over there.
heads never roll in our clown-show of a civil service.
They just get promoted to a level of incompetence.
…or …
* get put on indefinite “home leave” with full pay and benefits
or
* for the really “unlucky” ones… early retirement with a bumped up pension pot….
Some (too many) are square and don’t roll well! Usually they remain still and get lifted (promoted) or early retirement, with full benefits of course!
Sometimes there is an investigation, lasting several years, followed by a non-disclosure settlement and either re-instatement or early retirement…again with full benefits!
Now that Jamaica is on the UK red list, all passengers from Jamaica should be placed in a secure hotel quarantine on their arrival in the Cayman Islands – as they would be in the UK.
Better yet would be to stop flying there! That’s where most of the positive travelers are coming from.
Those flights are not for benefit of Caymanians anyway.
Where do you think the majority of your ass wipers come from then?
Philippines, and they don’t steal from you.
Meaning all Jamaican helpers steal? Maybe because you pay them slave wages?
The only wages that slaves knew (and not unique to the Americas’ period) was more punishment.
So stop it, please, Respect history.
Low wages are exempt from the 10 Commandments?
Jamaica isn’t on the red list!
Stop all flights from Jamaica!
Bet she wasn’t the only one that came here like this, it’s just that she got caught.
So the ground handling agents obviously messed up, but what type of person would go to the airport and board a flight knowing that they have received a positive test? So sad and so enfuriating.
the same type of people that send their child to school (not here) after the three of them tested positive for COVID 2 days earlier potentially exposing 80 other students, – this is our world nowadays
No, never there would a parent send a child sick to school. I mean, come on, how many times do kids say they are fine and then a few hours later spike a fever.
How many of you have gone to work feeling ok and then as the day went on felt miserable.
Not excusing the person on the plane, but I can see how you think you can make it thru the day, and just can’t a few hours later.
4:08 – I’m going to be as polite as I can. Before conjuring up 6 lines of font diarrhea, spend less than the equivalent time first with a search to see if the comment you’re responding to is credible or not, – no, I’m not going post the easily found links for you.
What kind of person would do that…? The description would be unprintable.
But only 4 letters (3 consonants and a vowel)!
Probably someone who hasn’t seen family in years, paid a lot of money for airfare and was not feeling sick.
Or someone who went for a Visa and wanted to get back home no matter what. Or someone who knew that they were sick but thought the chances of getting treatment in Cayman was better than at the overcrowded hospitals in Jamaica.
No excuses. None.
12:31 Stop trying to justify this disgusting behavior! There is NO valid reason for traveling when you’ve already tested positive.
So is this serious failing by CAL personnel that puts lives at risk grounds for termination or will it be ignored and the individuals who did this be back at their jobs potentially doing it all again today?
First Things First
This person knowingly jeopardized the health of everyone they came in contact with which should be a criminal act in my book.
The Jamaican authorities and the people who conducted the test dropped the ball big time. Once the person tested positive, the Jamaican Authorities should have contacted them with instructions on how to isolate / seek assistance and not allow them to move freely in the community
This person with a positive test in hand, still decided to board the flight and probably deceived the people at the airport to get on the flight. In Jamaica you must present a negative test to enter the airport and then the Cayman Airways agent checks that you also have the negative test so they all failed in this regards.
Travel time needs to revise some of their procedures for travel. One change should be that the PCR test status is entered during check in by an agent before a boarding pas is generated. This will force the agent to actually read the document and catch issues like these.
Locally they also need to come up with better quarantine requirements. Some people are allowed to quarantine at home and home for some is a tenement yard or a bedroom in someone else house. This is not smart to expect people to stay in 1 room for 14 days with no contact.
Is Government paying for all the passengers on that flight or who ?. The person that was tested postive before boarding the plane should have to pay for all, NOT THE CAYMAN PEOPLE
How do you know the positive pax knew they were positive? What does the Jamaican Authorities have to do with this? Have you ever made a mistake in your life (also goes for the others who demand a hanging for all involved) and would you want the same level of condemnation and crucifixion for your mistakes? I wish some of you read the Bible, then you would understand how ridiculous and hateful you all sound. People make mistakes, or they would not be people. Your fears are based on your ignorance. Wake up, before you start executing people because of the colour of their hair!
1. Because they had their test results which stated it was positive
2. Her companion obviously knew something because he tried to distance himself from her
Yes people make mistakes but this one is not acceptable and ignorance is not an excuse
1:04 pm, you are either family to the guilty woman and her pardner or just a plain idiot. People make mistakes, but this was no mistake, she had to know she was postive, this could cause a lot of people their lives.
bad yes, but they were all going into quarantine anyway right?
Yes but now with ADDED RISK of these persons contracting the virus from being in an enclosed environment with a CONFIRMED covid positive person! The fact that it is a imported CONFIRMED covid positive case from day 1, coming from a country which has just confirm the MU variant, will put everyone involved in this occasion at both airports, in this flight, ground crews, CBC at airport, Cayman medical staff involved, transport personel, cleaners and persons working at the quarantine facilities here! list can go on and on from that!
That doesn’t make it alright
Flying from Miami, there is a pre-check in line. A person was there, looked for your name on the manifest, then asked for the covid test. Which she LOOKED AT!
With a pencil she checked my name, passport number, PCR, time and date, and that it was negative.
At the check in counter she asked the clerk asked for it again, confirming the tick marks were correct.
For a start, the agents in Jamaica need to be immediatly suspended without pay, and if after investigation there is any proof of negligence, they should be fired, and if there was any evidence of corruption the ground services company needs to have the contract terminated.
This is shocking.
The two travellers are in Gov quarantine, they should be billed and if not Caymanians, deported after they paid the breach fine.
Govt employees cant be fired unfortunately.
Why
It just goes to show everyone has totally let their guard down with this killer.
Stupid mistake caused by rushing and not following rules.
I keep saying , the most dangerous thing about this killer virus is the people who catch or could catch it.
Bravo
Next the Mu soon slip threw
No need to have a cow about it.
I hear that your health insurers now will not insure you, i.e. pay your medical bills, if you require hospital treatment for covid if you are not vaccinated. So get vaccinated!
Shame that’s not true
That’s not true….
Not true! Stop spreading lies!
That is true In case your insurance policy has a force majure clause. Most insurers around the world have been looking at Covid being caught by this clause. CIG Health Insurance Commission needs to clarify the position.
Why our world Class Civil Service silent on this?
Can you imagine the looks on the faces at ORIA when they looked at that paperwork? It would have made a viral video with 1 million hits. LMOA
Except for the fact theres only 70k people in Cayman and on one else gives a sh1t.
Jamaica is currently grappling with COVID cases, hospital beds, the variant, low uptake in vaccines and low compliance with curfews and lock downs.
I think we need to stop travel to and from there temporarily until their situation improves.
9 55 am, agreed stop all flights from Jamaica until they have better control of the Virus
Prison, then repatriation. All CAL employees vaccinated? So? It has been reported that Jamaica has the MU variant that evades vaccination: https://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/lead-stories/20210909/mu-variant-covid-19-confirmed-jamaica
The seriousness of this breach cannot be over-emphasized.
That passenger’s positive case must have been really bad, it seems to have sent a countrywide, immediate viral case of explosive diarrhea….why else would all the TP be sold out this morning?!
Seriously peeps, get a grip of yourselves
Yes, why are people so stupid?!?
This is one time… I WANT TO KNOW THE NATIONALITY of these travellers…. because when I travel on CAL as a black Jamaican … they go through my documents three times …
But I have been at the check-in counter at NMIA MIA JFK and ORIA where “white Caymanians” or other “known persons of certain hues” are given red carpet treatment to check in once they know someone and conversations are held about “how yuh momma”
Not because the flight was coming from Kingston does not mean that the woman and her companion are Jamaican … we need to know the nationalities.
Ok she from mars.
What ever nationality, color, creed or gender, they are blatant threats to US ALL! The counter agent made a very terrible error that is of the utmost priority in this time to Verify, reverify and check again! THE PCR TEST RESULTS!!!!!! WE ARE IN A GLOBAL PANDEMIC!!!
This person knew they was positive, why even go in the public, let alone try to catch an international flight!
Those persons are just totally irresponsible and DANGEROUS!
Spoken like someone who has no family, has never been in need, in a strange country or simply in fear of their lives and health. Or just maybe, someone who is so selfish that they can not even contemplate compassion for their fellow human being. You are the one who should quarantine. Your ignorance and fear is dangerous to everyone.
