Local man dies at quarantine hotel

Holiday Inn

(CNS): Public health officials have confirmed that a local man has died at the government quarantine hotel, the Holiday Inn. Few details have been released by the Travel Cayman team, which is responsible for the health and well-being of those who are being held at the facility until they have served their ten or 14-day period. However, CNS understands through unofficial sources that the man had not tested positive for the virus. It is also understood he had travelled back home to Cayman following a visit to the United States that may have been health related.

Officials have said the man was found unresponsive at the facility on Sunday morning just before 10am, when emergency services were dispatched and the man taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Public Health said that the matter is now under investigation by the RCIPS, adding that there was no risk to Public Health.

I have taken the COVID vaccines, am worried I believe I deserve to know the truth. Now I have a Question : How many who died since January’21 received at least one COVID vaccine?,
How long did they live after the vaccine? What was the cause of death regardless of what underlying conditions they had,? heart failure? when that ticker stops we dead!!! we need to determine is what each person had in common before they died? What is the common denominator? I believe the best place to start is to determine how many had the vaccine, (this is just an experiment and they only way to know if it works is to report and analyze every complication or side effect, this includes blood clots and hear attacks. I need to know what to expect, knowledge is power and the life you save could be mine or your OWN

My condolences to the family. I am so sorry for your loss.

      My condolences as well.

We have not had information on cause of death, but I do think that solo quarantining is not the best situation for a person returning from medical treatment.

On the matter of transmission, the vaccine is not 100% effective; about 6% or so of vaccinated people can still contract the disease.

What is not yet know is how that 6% will fair — will they be largely asymptomatic but still be able to transit the virus? Is there a reduced degree of impact of the disease if some of those 6% get infected? There are still some unanswered questions, but some vaccinated people will definitely be able to get infected.

Panton and PACT are BRICKING it in case they open the borders and we get any kind of a spike or increase in deaths or transmission. They believe the island will crucify them but they are wrong. Sensible people know at some point we need to move forward. Alden and his mob did do a reasonably good job with the initial issues but we can’t stay locked up forever.

  4. Anonymous says:

Condolences to his family. May he RIP.

If he was indeed vaccinated, it is a known fact that people develop complications and even die suddenly within 1-3 weeks after the vaccination. That is why putting recently vaccinated people in a hotel room, alone, must not be happening.

Advanced medical alert systems that include fall detection are available and cheap.

Medical alert systems, also known as personal emergency response systems (PERS)must have been provided to all people who quarantine alone.

Can we all stop bitching about COVID and mourn the passing of Billy Bob. I have had the honour of knowing Bill. He had no enemies. He was my friend. Trisha, Erin, Monique, William, Aiden , stay strong, have faith. Bill is in a better place. Gone but will never be forgotten. Say hi to Mont and Scrounge. I will have an Amstel for you tomorrow. Sleep well my friend. Dan P

RIP Bill, deepest condolence to all family.

Sure him and pops having a drink

He was one of the first to get vaccinated so your 1-3 weeks conspiracy theory doesn’t apply..Try again..maybe his micro-chip wasn’t working properly..):

Stop with all the foolish conspiracy theories. Let’s learn from this situation going forward. His autopsy will determine his cause of death and I would bet $100 it has nothing to do with the vaccine.

He was fully vaccinated this need to have vaccinated people in quarantine is foolish.

Bill could’ve been with his family as he came back from his medical trip, but due to this stupid mandate of qurantine for vaccinated people he was unable to do so.

persons who travel away for medical reason and come back should not be left alone in isolation for so long and should be kept a close watch on.

    He will be truly missed.
    deepest condolences to the family.

Vaccinated people can not contract covid but the may still carry and spread it.

Coming back and testing negative upon landing is where the issue lays. Anyone testing negative should not have to go into quarantine

I’m with you 100% I was a long life friend of his and worked at airport with a PVT company and serviced Cayman Airways his employer. He should had been in hospital or home with his family and not in a hotel alone after returning from a medical checkup.
This is enough to PISS anybody Off. Rest in Peace Billy Bob

BVI has no quarantine for vaccinated visitors. Want to know what their new covid case numbers have been since this was implemented?…. ZERO! Get with it Cayman, the world is leaving you behind!

9:08 Is that the best you have… the same old run down “if you don’t like it, leave” stupidity? Come on, give some reason on why Cayman should remain an island prison while the rest of the world (including other British territories) implements science based reopening procedures that work. It’s clear that you are very likely the reason why the incompetence at the top continues. Fool!

Looking over our shoulders, back 6 months ago, we can all appreciate how careful we all were; the great care, and trepidation at unknown efficacy numbers before the dataset was fully known, but know humanity has it: the fully vaccinated are not vectors for the spread of Covid-19. Simple as that. The data from 2 Bln+ doses supports letting fully vaccinated expedite through with an arrival snapshot PCR, and maybe some follow-on rapid antigen tests for first few days to make absolutely sure. We need to read the data, understand it, choice one of the several vaccination blockchain apps, and let those of least/nil risk carry on their way. They are past the finish line and quarantining isn’t necessary for them. If someone has credible data that refutes this, let’s see it below. Thanks.

I am so sad for his family: and this is a tragic end. They could have had more time with him if not for the unnecessary quarantining of vaccinated persons forced upon them by a cowardly government.

    • Anonymous says:

Isn’t this the second person to die in quarantine? Terribly sad.If they didn’t have Covid, terribly needless especially if this gentleman was vaccinated.

    • Anonymous says:

6:07 oh shut up, if you can’t understand or appreciate the safety measures put in place because we haven’t reached herd immunity then gtfo.

  9. Anon says:

Mitigate the risk of this happening again
    By NOT quarantining vaccinated people
    ONLY quarantine unvaccinated people
What’s the point in getting vaccinated if you treat everyone the same ?

There have been over 1,200 deaths from the vaccines in the UK so far. Here’s the link, official government –

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions/coronavirus-vaccine-summary-of-yellow-card-reporting

*CNS: You should actually read what you are linking: “The nature of Yellow Card reporting means that reported events are not always proven side effects. Some events may have happened anyway, regardless of vaccination. This is particularly the case when millions of people are vaccinated, and especially when most vaccines are being given to the most elderly people and people who have underlying illness…. It is important to note that Yellow Card data cannot be used to derive side effect rates or compare the safety profile of COVID-19 vaccinations as many factors can influence ADR reporting.”

Some may say, yes but there’s XXX’s of deaths from Covid19. Well, there are not, there are XXX’s deaths with and from Covid19 and there is infact a cure – Ivermectin.

India are currently suing the World Health Organization for suppressing Ivermectin as a known cure and treatment.

*CNS: India Today – DGHS drops Ivermectin, Doxycycline from Covid-19 treatment. There’s a lot of interest in Ivermectin but like a lot of covid news, there’s a lot of misleading hype as well (as opposed to legitimate study). But it is a treatment not a prevention. India is desperately trying to vaccinate its population to get a grip on the covid numbers there.

Out of interest, when the SARS virus was being vaccinated against, they hit 25 deaths and stopped the program. Globally.

    • Anonymous says:

CNS – yes, you are correct and diligent. But it cuts both ways. All Covid deaths have been accepted/pushed as WITH rather than with/from by most media for 18 months as you know. So, if you’re going to jump straight onto an official Gov website and immediately point out the small print, you would do well to also have done so for the past 18 months on the with/from.

*CNS: No, it doesn’t cut both ways. I’m guessing you get most of your information from fringe far right media or Facebook and have not been following any actual reporting or what has been pointed out in this comment section. What I highlighted was not pointing out the small print but explaining the fundamental flaw in the point you were trying to make.

The figures we have been looking at are excess deaths and sudden unmanageable hospitalisations and overwhelmed mortuaries in many countries and locations within those countries where covid takes a hold. There is plenty of data from the various countries on this. The dismissals of covid as media hype is just tiring at this point.

And as to ivermectin, there IS a tonne of reporting but you’re not doing it. I’m no fan of Trump but the longer this goes on, the more it becomes apparent that he had his good moments and Hydroxy and Ivermectin were things he was screaming about.

*CNS: Yes, Trump was screaming about hydroxychloroquine and did great harm because he did so before there had been sufficient studies and without consulting his medical experts. The Lancet: “However, multiple high-quality studies subsequently showed no benefit of hydroxychloroquine use as post-exposure prophylaxis3
or as a COVID-19 treatment.” Meanwhile, people who actually needed it couldn’t get it because of something Trump read on Twitter.

Most of the reporting on Ivermectin has been highly suspect, but the overwhelming message (screaming, if you like) from doctors everywhere is to get vaccinated so you don’t get sick in the first place. If you are interested, this is what the EU’s Medical Agency says about it – EMA advises against use of ivermectin for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19 outside randomised clinical trials

And here is an interesting article – COVID-19: Why Does Ivermectin Continue To Be Popular?

I knew someone who had the second vaccine in the UK and was killed in a car crash 7 days later.

definitely a side effect of the virus.

      Beware people

I know someone who knows someone who got the vaccine in Canada and then their grandmother died four days later. Coincidence? I think not.

      • Anonymous says:

Yes – this is exactly what “died AFTER receiving the vaccine means”. Not “died, because they received the vaccine”.

There should without question be a daily wellness/health check by phone. First of all to check for covid symptoms but even more so to check and make sure the returning traveler is ok. Having stayed at the Holiday Inn I can confirm the only way they might know something was up would be if you didn’t pick up your meal. If you decide to cook your own food they would have no idea if you are ok on a daily basis.

    • Anonymous says:

So basically people are being imprisoned for 14 days with no one checking on their well-being, no emergency medical alert devices/system. You have to admit that real prisoners are being watched 24х7 and in case of emergency there’s always someone around to provide help.
      I think it is a major oversight/negligence.

    • Anonymous says:

Emergency medical alert devices must have been provided to each person and the system monitoring it must have been implemented BEFORE they started putting people in hotel rooms for 2 weeks. Frankly, what is happening in Cayman hotels is inhumane and unthinkable. A person alone in a hotel room having a heart attack or stroke or other medical emergency has no chances of survival.

    • Inmate says:

1.28pm I agree they never open your door and cleaning the room goes out the window except you don’t have one. However I suspect it was the person’s failure to answer their phone that led to the discovery.I was incarcerated there for 16 days.

You do realize the this gentleman was posting on facebook up to 7:30am the morning he passed. It was not that long after that they found him. From what I read in his posts, he was not unhappy, was busy feeding the birds that would visit him and chatting with other people in quarantine and I’m sure on the phone with his family.

To make up some foolishness now to justify your accusations you are saying that he was left alone and locked up like a criminal..He wasn’t and I know if he felt that way it would have come across in his posts.

A family has lost a loved one, let’s try to be respectful and not make up these stupid stories. is family deserves better than that.. He could have quarantined at home but did what he thought best for his family as he was coming back from a covid environment and knew that even with the vaccine he could have still spread the virus to his wife and children.

    • Anonymous says:

Agree someone should check on quarantined medical patients but can’t their families call them?

      • Anonymous says:

What if they have no family? Medical emergency means every passing minute counts.
Major oversight by whoever in charge.

        • Anonymous says:

He has lots of family and friends..stop listening to foolishness. He was not alone for 14 days. Look at his facebook page. He was very happy up until maybe even his last hour.

I had a health scare when I was in quarantine at Holiday Inn to be honest I was terrified – I called travel cayman who were great and said If I need medical they would arrange and they called back the next day to be honest its a terrible thing quarantine especially alone a very very tough situation but not fair when you have been vaccinated by HSA you should get out after 3 days and clear PCR if they are that worried that as a vaccinated person will fall within the 6 or 7 percent that may carry COVID after 2 doses – in fact I am going to put pen to paper now to our new Premier. This terrible situation for this poor gentlemen and his family so many emotions I did not know him but find-myself really upset and annoyed on a human level that this happened to him and we cannot blame travel Cayman they are following the law its the Government that needs to appreciate by not making any changes or decisions they are in effect making a decision for all of us which is a bit too rigid and I know they will say they are keeping Cayman safe but the position on vaccinated persons needs to change after-all is that not why they urged us to get the vaccine to get back to normal? RIP Mr. Billy Bob

Not sure what is meant by “responsible for the health and well-being”. Makes it sound like they have some responsibility beyond ensuring that travellers are quarantined in accordance with the law and test negative for Covid. If someone dies of natural causes during their quarantine from non-Covid related causes it is unfortunate but does not reflect negatively on Travel Cayman.
