This man was walking in front of me on the excursion, we chatted the whole way there. He told me he was 74. He was a very sweet man. The walk from tinder to diving boat was at least a mile walk. He was on vacation with his grandson, he told some others on boat, but he was on excursion alone. 🙁
My husband and I were on the excursion with him. Spoke with him a bit and he seemed like a wonderful man. He was having some difficulty walking from the terminal to the boat dock. From our uneducated vantage point it seemed like a cardiac issue. The crew and fellow snorkelers did everything they could. The harbor security arrived quickly and we could hear the ambulance arrive at the dock. My heart breaks for his family and friends.
This is just the most tragic news ever as l happened to know this gentleman personally… words cannot express my sadness to his wife and his entire family!
why does this always happen when they go snorkeling?
Because people who dont exercise exert themselves on vacation with a physical activity (and snorkeling can be more taxing that one thinks). Happens up north with sedentary people going on their annual ski trip.
This would not have happened if a pier was built. No snorkeling near a pier.
Not. Funny.
In all likelihood, it just would have happened somewhere else.
They need to have a defibrillator and spinal board. This Man would have been saved with those two things. Sad for the family. Bumping his head on the ladder not good. I am also surprised the police boat did not have a defibrillator.
he would have just died somewhere else you twit
What an awful story. Will there be lifeguards now monitoring the snorkeling tourists?
He/she didnt drown. It sounds like a cardiac event. Not much a lifeguard could do.
It was a cardiac event, I was there. They should at least have a board to put someone on, or some kind of emergency medical equipment. I had to hold the boats together while the slid him from our boat to the port authority boat We didn’t even see a first aid kit. The only good thing is at least he went out doing something he loved as he had his own equipment.
No.
What happened to Kenny’s lifeguard program?
On the shelf next to his master transportation plan.
Next to his portrait receiving his acting deputy premier’s diploma!
This is just the most tragic news ever as l happened to know this great gentleman personally… words cannot express my sadness to his wife and his entire family!!!😢
