70 new COVID cases reported in a single day
(CNS): After a drop in the number of new cases of COVID-19 being reported to the Public Health Department over the weekend, there was a leap in case numbers on Monday. According to the latest statistics, 70 new cases of the virus were reported yesterday, including one case in the Sister Islands.
Positive cases reported to Public Health during this period are currently as follows:
Sunday | 10/04/2022 | 23 |
Monday | 11/04/2022 | 70 |
The seven-day rolling average for today is 39 and the number of people locked down as a result of SARS-CoV-2 has increased again. There are now an estimated 637 official active cases, including three unvaccinated patients in the hospital.
As the number of cases continues to steadily increase, over 30% of the Cayman Islands population has now had COVID-19 since the coronavirus first arrived here in March 2020.

21 confirmed cases of meningococcal disease as Florida outbreak spreads.

Theyāre figuring this outā¦yet they arenāt looking for the one potential cause of the outbreak, which isā¦you probably guessed it right.
Beware!, we now have BA4 and BA5 to contend with, what will they bring?
If we are all healthy we do not need to worry about the virus. It will be with us until we understand what it want us to do.
Global COVID cases surpassed 500 million as the highly contagious BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron surges in many countries in Europe and Asia. – Reuters
A mild cold for some, no symptoms for many others, serious illness for an unlucky few, and an untimely death for 1 in 10,000 unfortunate souls.
I’ve said this before, any cruise ship permission to land here should be conditional on them reporting the number of positive cases on arrival AND the number of positive cases on completion of their cruise.
Iām covid negative when I land. Can I be ensured the locals are also covid negative? Who is giving covid to who?
That is a silly false equivalency. Once government makes a decision to allow cruise visitors to mingle with the local population, locals have little choice in going about our daily routine and making a living but to be exposed to whatever contagions the cruise ship tourists among us might bring. The cruise ship visitors have a choice of whether or not to mingle with locals. If they feel threatened, they can decline to go ashore and live a very plush and catered life–shop, dine, drink, play, party, chill–aboard their ship. It is sobering to note that the cruise ship industry is not being transparent about the numbers of Covid infections among passengers. However one story gives some insight into the situation: Reported earlier this month: “Nine of the 11 cruise ships due to arrive in Victoria this month currently have confirmed COVID-19 cases on board, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)”. Bottom line: if you are a cruise passenger, you pays your money and you takes your chances, but it is a chance you freely chose and paid to take when you booked your cruise.
Is it true that a large part of the population of Little Cayman has come down with Covid over the last 10 days or so?
The second booster has been given to millions in the US, UK, Canada, Israel, Bermuda and elsewhere to limit severe disease during the coming wave. Those countries have intelligent leadership. Here government is waiting until dozens of fully vaccinated people with decreased immunity become seriously ill or worse.
It seems you are prepared to take a booster every six months until eternity.
@5:30:
If twice-yearly jabs can reduce my chances of being hospitalised or dying, that works for me. That is only one more jab per year than the flu shot. I have family and many friends who take daily injections to keep themselves healthy.
70 is the number that self-reported. The real number is undoubtedly much higher.
Yeah but think of the cruise ship money lol
Why would it say 1 case on Little Cayman , sister island?. As of April 11 there are confirmed 20 positive cases!
20 !
The country should the healthy approach, going plant base will help. If the virus is contracted there will be little to no symptoms. Then we do not have to worry about the cruise people.
What an absurd statement. “The country should the healthy approach, going plant base will help.” And we wonder why some get elected by uneducated voters… and we wonder why some simply don’t get logic and science. Cayman, I cry for you, is this the best you can put forward?
Sadly, it is. If there is no enrichment for our leaders, they don’t want the job.
I’ll take horse medicine before I go plant based.

LOL! A good one
Diet, when done properly, may feed healthy gut bacteria and offer a shorter illness but that alone won’t necessarily shield anyone from infection or symptomatic illness. There are plenty of college kids that survive on beer and french fries for weeks at a time – technically plant based, but none of us would call that healthy. A diet of fake news and faulty assurances seems to be just as unhealthy these days.
they survive on beer because young bodies are resilient and detox system is strong…the older you get the less efficient your immune is…add certain kind of messengers introduced to it
on the other hand, many concentration camps survivors lived to 90-100…science can’t figure it out yet…WHAT DO WE REALLY KOW ABOUT LIFE?
As Gomer Pyle would say,”Surprise Surprise!”
Easter weekend camping coming up. Be extra careful everybody; don’t give anyone the opportunity to blame this traditional gathering for elevated levels.
Donāt care. Hospitalizations? Anything?
CDC confirms 3.5 million Americans died in 2021, making it the deadliest year in U.S. history. 416,000 people died of COVID-19, the 3rd leading cause of death.
In comparison, Influenza has caused between 12,000 to 52,000 deaths annually in the past decade. #CovidIsNotTheFlu
But, you do you.
Daily variations in these small numbers are meaningless. Your numbers from the US are also irrelevant. The drastic drop in the number of people commenting on covid here is more meaningful. We are moving on. Bye.
Old data and misleading data. Q1 2021 there was no vaccination protection for the vulnerable and none for the rest of the population until then end of Q2 at least. These were also cases almost exclusively of the alpha or delta variants which were much more dangerous than the much milder omicron variant that now dominates.
We are in 2022 when COViD is lethal dangerous the flu.

Get vaccinated and move on.
You’re the type of guy I need. Join me in Las Vegas.
2 unvaxxed in hospital.
Thanks to the downvotes for proving you anti vaxxers don’t follow facts. Also, it’s actually 3 unvaxxed in hospital so it’s even worse for you lot.
Please, can we not know is it Cayman Brac or Little Cayman.
They know, we want to know!
Living in the “Sister Islands” ,please tell, because according to rumors, Little Cayman has quite a number.
Little 20 cases.
“can we not know is it Cayman Brac or Little Cayman”.
Can you just try to use common language skills?
There are 20 active positive cases on Little cayman.
