CAL’s recovery flights disrupted by heavy rain
(CNS): As the airports re-opened Wednesday following the all-clear, Cayman Airways added multiple recovery and evacuation flights for domestic travel between Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands and between Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. But the weather has interrupted those efforts and forced the cancellation of the evacuation flights scheduled for today.
The airline said it had rescheduled those flights to resume its recovery efforts on Thursday, pending weather conditions. The airline is contacting affected customers directly and will accommodate them on Thursday’s flights. The regular Cayman Airways Express schedule was still expected to resume as of Thursday, 7 November, while the regular international jet schedule resumed today.
“Cayman Airways remains committed to the recovery efforts of our islands following the passage of Hurricane Rafael, and to ensuring that evacuees and other travellers reach their destinations safely.

Cuba.
More than 461 homes collapsed because of the hurricane. More than 283,000 people from across the country had been evacuated from their homes, 98,300 of which were in Havana.
Streets across the western swath of the country were riddled with utility poles, wires and trees.
Is JOCC going ti deliver humanitarian aid to Cubans?
Cuba is the Cayman Islands neighbor. Why is it so indifferent to its suffering and offers no assistance after natural disasters?
Seeing online flight tracking that there are several Twin Otter flights between CYB and LYB today (7 Nov). Also several Saab flights from CYB to GCM. Thanks CAL!
On a related note… has anyone heard when the 3rd Twin Otter for CAL Express will be arriving? It was announced in the summer that one had been acquired and would be arriving soon.
laughable stuff from cig and civil service…
‘evacuation flight’s…..zzzzz
You’re laughing because you are not one of the over 100 tourists trying to get out of Little Cayman…and shuttling bunches of them to the BRac from Little and hauling them over on the Saab is something you don’t have to be concerned about.
We here in the Brac managed well but Little Cayman is a mess and the last thing you need is tourists with no facilities.
So scoff all you want- arm chair quarterback. Luckily you have internet and roof over your head.
