(CNS): American financier Anthony Scaramucci, who famously served as White House Communications Director for just ten days in 2017 during Donald Trump’s administration, will be coming to the Cayman Islands next month. Scaramucci, who now supports Kamala Harris in her presidential bid, will deliver the keynote address at the Help For Children (HFC) Cayman Gala on Saturday, 2 November, at the Ritz‐Carlton, Grand Cayman.

Help For Children is a global charity that works in partnership with the alternative investment industry to raise funds to combat child maltreatment around the world. It scores 89% on the Charity Navigator website.

HFC has a presence in Asia, North America, the United Kingdom and the Cayman Islands. According to its website, funds raised in each HFC location are granted out locally within that community. “HFC events are the primary source of fundraising while providing marketing and networking opportunities for the Alternative Investment industry,” its website says.

HFC was founded in 1998 and has since invested more than US$62 million to fight child maltreatment, transforming the lives of more than 1.2 million individuals, the charity says about itself.

The cost of a single seat at the gala at the Ritz is CI$924, and a table for ten costs CI$9,240. The event organisers say that Scaramucci has waived his speaking fees for the fundraising gala.

We are absolutely thrilled to have him on board as the keynote this year,” said HFC Executive Director Sumudu Waas. “The charity supports effective prevention and treatment options to help children heal from the trauma of abuse; teach parents, guardians and caregivers how to better protect children; and train professionals to provide the most productive treatment available.”

The gala will include a live and silent auction for a new Audi from Car City, jewellery from Kirk Freeport, a collection of champagnes from Cayman Distributors, a staycation package from the Ritz‐Carlton and travel experiences.

The net proceeds of the HFC Cayman Gala will benefit eleven HFC grantee organizations whose programmes prevent and treat child abuse in the Cayman Islands. While the charity has not said which non-profits will benefit from this gala, previous grantees are listed here.

CNS: This article has been updated with the information that Anthony Scaramucci has waived his speaking fees for this event.

Its a fundraiser attended by local professionals working in the funds industry. This annual event has raised millions over the last 15 years for LOCAL charities assisting LOCAL kids. Last year alone I believe was over $400,000. Not bad for one evening?

A political lackey boy associated with a socialist, left leaning administration is exactly what the Cayman Islands needs.. not

Scaramucci should donate his speaking fee to charity.

Truly hope he doesn’t take advantage of his time speaking to bash former President Trump and try to interfere in an American election while he is standing on foreign soil.

As for the Charity Navigator score of only 89 -why such a low score?

Not really. The event is attended mainly by Cayman investment fund lawyers, accountants and directors, and Anthony is a hedge fund manager, so part of the industry. Anthony has long been involved in the New York chapter of HFC.

The purpose of the event is to raise money for numerous local charities that help children. Last year’s event raised $400 thousand, which is an incredible amount for one night (no other charitable event in Cayman comes close).

Anthony is an entertaining and very articulate speaker (he was in the same class as Barrack Obama at Harvard Law School).

Not in the same ‘class’ as Barack Obama. Neither are you if you cannot spell the name of the former President correctly, which was not Scaramahoochie.LOL

$400,000 is a decent amount. But if you got to pay $100,000 to this guy then 25% of your charity funds are already gone. He pockets $100,000 for a night – not a bad gig. Bring down some of the serious NYC chapter money that will get news coverage!!

      I disagree.

He’s the founder of SkyBridge Capital and a former Goldman Sachs investment banker. Considering this island is built on financial services and the largest portion of the wealth is in the hands of people who work in financial services, it’s a great choice.

If your goal is raising money, get people in the room who have lots of it and put them in a good mood. The “Mooch” probably has some good stories that these people want to hear.

And yet during his tenure Russia did not invade Ukraine, Hamas/Hezbollah was not in a war with Israel, Iran wasn’t gifted $6billion for hostages, America was much more energy independent, and the bully – who did not start any wars – he kept the sewer rat cowardly terrorist scum bag pieces of crap who clearly use civilian houses, churches and hospitals for cover – very quiet.
There were two genders when he was president and you didn’t have boys/men competing in girls/womens sports.
Do I like his rhetoric? No. His policies? Yes.

Turnover is in every administration. I do not think he will have a problem finding a replacement for anybody
