Opposition Leader Roy McTaggart delivers his 2023 Christmas message

(CNS) Opposition Leader Roy McTaggart urged optimism and unity in his Christmas message to the country this week, a sentiment echoed by many other MPs who have posted festive videos on CIGTV’s YouTube channel. Deputy Premier André Ebanks asked people to spread some joy while acknowledging those facing difficulties. Meanwhile, Sir Alden McLaughlin, in his new apolitical role as speaker, reminded everyone that Cayman Islands legislators met for the first time at Pedro St James in December almost 200 years ago.

See the messages from ministers and MPs who have posted videos on CIGTV here.

Didn’t these same MPs hurl personal attacks, and engineer a political coup to overthrow the standing government, to install a corrupt one?

This current government is 90% the same as the previous one. If it is corrupt, so too was the previous one.

More nothing messages. Can anyone say if anyone in an official capacity has made any mention of the dire situation happening again in Gaza? I have heard platitudes offered at times of tragedy for some places but have not heard any mention about the abhorrent situation in Gaza.
I would expect it meaningful for some mention from Cayman’s government and Christian society.

Based on the down votes, we can see just how “Christian” or “caring” those persons are. Over 10,000 children dead! Over 21,000 persons with many women and elderly dead. Practically all hospitals, schools, homes, refugee camps and places of worship bombed and completely destroyed. And on an official and Christian Leadership level, we don’t care? That’s very sad!

Why do these politicians believe they have to deliver a ‘Christmas message’? Just do your job for these islands, you are paid handsomely for it, not to preach to the ‘minions’.

What they need to do is unify & be kind to each other & fix this mess of a country. No good preaching to people if they aren’t following their own words!

Yes. I tried really hard to ‘spread joy’, but there was a hole in my joy bag, and it didn’t go nearly as far as I’d hoped.
