Anti-corruption cops under HR internal review

Governor Martyn Roper at the Commission Secretariat office

(CNS): The Commissions Secretariat, which has responsibility for the staff working for the Anti-Corruption Commission, has confirmed that some members of the investigation unit have been assigned to carry out their duties remotely while an internal HR matter is being reviewed. Officials denied that the officers had been suspended, but in line with civil service policy for dealing with personnel issues unrelated to the ACC’s investigations, the officers are working remotely.

“This arrangement will continue until the end of the internal review, and further to any resulting recommendations,” officials said in response to CNS inquiries. “For the avoidance of doubt, this matter does not relate to any ACC investigation, nor does it have any bearing on the quality and integrity of the work being done by the ACC. The work of the ACC and the Secretariat continues as usual.”

The commission said it was unable to provide specific details publicly but CNS has learned that this involves three officers and relates to allegations of bullying.

4:41am I concur . Several months ago I was told about these events by a political minion and at the time I thought it almost impossible for this to happen but never ever doubt or under estimate the extent of corruption. Let’s put in in context Cayman we have a HR review which is now crippling and anti corruption investigation unit investigating government and political corruption in Cayman for bullying WOW ! That by the way goes on every friggin day in the DG world class civil service ! You do the math Cayman something is seriously amiss here.

If three investigators are facing accusations of bullying, i would question why the managers are not also being investigated. Why did they not deal with the alleged situation and prevent it getting to this stage?

    Private Sector takes the cake😋🍰.
Those co-workers & managers micromanage the “hell out of you [pun intended]” & put their personal feelings into every stage of it.
The Private Sector Workplace is the biggest playground for many people with a lot of personal issues, harmful complexities, & lonely souls. It’s A RECIPE FOR DISASTER if you can’t find good (work) associates & engage with happily productive teams/departments with great communication skills.

The topic of corruption reminded me of a few questions that still need to be answered:

Is the postal service or some other entity available to deliver past due resignations to the Clerk of Parliament?

Is there still a giant lump under the carpet related to misplaced top soil?

Does Wayne, or anybody else, remember the issues underlying these questions?

I remember the Englishman who stole fill from his employer to put on his house lot.
The employer took him to court, he was found guilty, work permit revoked, had to leave Island with his Caymanian wife.
I guess the same law does not apply to well connected Caymanians.

  14. Tundi says:

Is anyone actually left in that office.

Having worked as a supervisor within a Gov entity if this is bullying which is dosen’t actually say there are
    normally three elements.

    1. The complainant is under qualified for the position and should never have got the job, but when has that mattered in Cayman.

    2. Because they were not qualified they are under performing and need to try and shift the blame.

    3. If the complainant is making allegations against fellow colleagues of the same grade they will need the support of a supervisor and therefore have some form of personal relationship with that person and can always rely on there support.

    Only my observations.

I have come to realize that some Caymanians in the workplace, take exception to being told what to do, or how to do it, as if they are being personally insulted.

That is not limited to Caymanians. Some from overseas who have the ears of their supervisor’s manager for reasons only known to them both (but rumored to be of a nefarious nature) act as if they are indispensable and ignore the Caymanian supervisor. Seems they are protected by some secret, since they get benefits that no Caymanian has received.
