Traveller tests positive for COVID-19
(CNS): Following Wednesday’s Miami flight, one person tested positive for COVID-19 in Thursday’s batch of 388 test results, which is not unexpected given the current situation in Florida with Spring break revellers making the most of the lack of restrictions against the spread of the virus now in the state. Despite this additional case, there has been a significant decrease in the number of people currently in isolation who have tested positive for the virus. There are just 19 active cases of COVID among the 867 people in isolation or quarantine, four of whom are suffering symptoms.
Meanwhile, just 357 additional people were vaccinated over the last day, with 44% of the estimated population having received at least one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and around 24% having completed the two-dose course.

Sounds exactly like the percentage that a certain moron ex-American president quoted. Keep drinking the kool-aid!
So no travellers from the UK are testing positive???
LOL
That was from the BA flight.
No it wasn’t it was from Miami
Big woop.
Is anyone checking these that are positive to see if they really took a PCR test and if there is a trend with a certain testing facility..
That would make too much sense!
Funny how so many of them had tested positive and no mass deaths. Generally no symptoms, maybe a cough and runny nose. Funny how that is.
Probably just indicative of the age and health of the majority of people flying in and out of here.
Maybe. But my weekly grocery outings would beg to differ. I am sure we can have them give us the positive results by age.
50% of people in cayman have egos so big they don’t want to admit that they were wrong. Covid has a 99.997% survival rate.
Dang straight.
I suggest you stop thinking less of covid because of how we’ve fared. Go work in an ICU somewhere with population and naysayers like you and I’m sure you’ll change your tune.
Survival is not the only issue. Many of those who were sick will be disabled for life or have permanent health issues that will be debilitating or lead to an early death down the line. I am happy that we have all had the chance to avoid these thanks to the strict enforcement. It is a blessing indeed to live in a covid free environment.
For example, this lady survived covid, so nothing to worry about right. The loss of all 4 of her arms and legs means she is not a covid death statistic therefore we can all catch covid and not worry about it because chances are high that we won’t die. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-54569346
Survival rate is not the only issue. Lockdown the island = go without work for some time. Catch covid and lose arms or legs = go without work forever.

How many no leg no arm people you know who had COVID?
The % of “long haulers” is similar to people we would consider to be Hypochondriacs. Suspicious.
Long haulers are not Hypochondriacs.
Once upon a time I was rolling my eyes hearing an advertisement on TV for restless leg syndrome and was sarcastic about chronic fatigue syndrome. Little did I know that in few years I would start having mysterious symptoms that doctors were classifying as “it is all in your head”.
I am grateful that a legit diagnosis was made in a few months in a Miami hospital. Interesting, that even after I was diagnosed, an expat doctor who used to work for CT hospital and now is in a private practice married to a Caymanian doctor, continued ‘treating” me as if I was faking it.
But back to 8:49 and your response. 8:49 is suffering from OCD caused by COVID anxiety. It (anxiety) is continuously fueled by mainstream media. What 8:49 doesn’t understand that many viral and bacterial infections can cause long term health consequences. That any surgery can cause death and long term health consequences, usually from anesthesia. That any medicine prescribed by a doctor can kill or cause long-term health consequences. That you can die in a dentist chair if you are allergic to lidocaine or other anesthetics.
Do we stop having surgeries, taking medicine or hide in a closet from viruses and bacterias? No. Then why some people are so terrified of COVID? They have developed Covid-Phobia.
One more thing: immune boosters. I don’t criticize anyone who got it. I simply don’t know, just like anybody else, if it is useful or useless in the long term.
But personally, I’d rather die naturally, from whatever it was meant for me to die, than boost my immune system that doesn’t need boosting-it is much smarter than man- made concoctions.

Our extraordinary good fortune (so far) should not be a circumstance to take for granted. Unfortunately, we’ll get our inbound hospital admissions soon enough, and cavalier attitudes about severity, or mortality risks will make those circumstances all the more serious. B117 variant is 60% more contagious, 60% more severe, and almost half of those symptomatic and hospitalised are under age 50.
Prove it.
Prove which? That you can’t use the internet, or can’t follow international news?

Not anymore. Try to keep up.
There is now a variant with a double mutation which makes it potentially very dangerous
